I went to get a sports massage a couple of times. It may have helped with some pains I was having in the back, or the pain just may have disappeared by itself, not sure. Anyway, it felt pretty good, but first time hurt like hell. Second time was not bad any more and I'll get another one tomorrow. Also, I've increased the amount of exercise I do (>10 hours a week), and since I started running with a lower pulse I've now managed to run 6K without a walking break a couple of times, although really slowly. Will probably attempt 8-10K lap soon. I'm noticing that if I run 3 times a week I get some painish feelings in the knees though.

I'm not sure what everyone is seeing in Snowpiercer. I saw it in January I think and to me it was an average sci-fi movie with a ridiculous premise.

I just heard this exists and is coming out in a month. Sadly the pirate theme seems to be dropped and it's back to more traditional Gothic/Risen fantasy stuff. My expectations are kind of torn: 1) Risen 2 was still really good, even as a fifth game for Piranha Bytes, maybe even their best, so I'm hoping this will be good! 2) Gothic 3 was the most ambitious but also the worst, and this is also numbered 3. Not to be confused with Half-Life 3. 3) Going back to generic fantasy seems boring. 4) Expecting it to be rather similar to all the previous games, which is also a bit boring -- each sequel (spiritual or not) has only added minor incremental improvements (if any) to how the game works.

Interesting that they never patched these, while for me it seemed obvious opportunity to do so on the PC: * Give sea shanties a separate volume control (I wanted them to be a lot louder than the awfully repetitive/boring/annoying music). This lessened my enjoyment of the game considerably as I didn't want to be going into menus to adjust volume each time I switched between ship/land. * Fix the god damn bug where fixing the ships in Kenway's Fleet's naval map didn't work (had to go to fleet tab and scroll to the right ship there)

Agreed, those were good! Also, I got 100% now, and trying to do the last "Challenges" but I think I'll drop those as the last ones are just too much work (discovering social chests, finding all locations in Kenway's Fleet).

Help me forget about Olly Moss and move on with my life
Erkki replied to melmer's topic in Idle Banter
Maybe you could assassinate or at least send death threats to Olly Murs to win some bonus points? -
One legitimate guy comes in, offers them something that is really simple and surely makes the project more likely to succeed, such as "multiplayer combined with deep story". Doesn't make any of it more likely to succeed IMHO, maybe a bit less likely a complete scam.

This seems like it will be big! I liked the original Divine Divinity (even worse a name!), but the sequels didn't seem interesting enough to play. They seem to have gone back to the roots and even improved on the original from what i've seen of Original Sin. But why I haven't gotten it so far is that from the videos I've seen it looks more like a game geared towards co-op than single player and I don't think I'll find anyone to play through the whole game with. Or is that a wrong impression and it's perfectly fine as single player?

That game was crazy, I saw the second half, but even then I saw more goals than I would have in most games.

True, and what I really like is how (relatively) little ludo-narrative dissonance there is in Black Flag -- the player's own created story and the narrated story are pretty much aligned, and some aspects of the final bits and ending brings that out even more.

Ok, I beat the game, at 99% (and maybe will redo the missions to get 100%). I think I made the right call before when I decided to quit. Everything after that was just not as exciting as the beginning. Perhaps the most exciting part was fighting the legendary ships, but it was also frustrating as some of them were doing impossible things (mainly the last man-o-war of the pair at the top-right corner of the map). Made me learn a few things (by reading FAQs) I had ignored before, though, such as how to fire heavy shots and that chain shots actually slow ships down. But the worst thing is, I did all of the side content first when I resumed playing and then I did ALL of the remaining main quest missions in one row. And it made me realize all the better how fucking stupidly awfully designed the missions are. MOST of the missions (at least after a certain point, which was somewhere after getting the diving bells) involve at least one section of tailing somebody, which are usually the worst kinds of missions in video games and no better here. Some OCD part of my brain kicked in and decided that I want to get 100%, but the secondary goals in missions are so frustrating in how they don't show you when you've failed them. Often I'll play through the mission only to discover that I didn't get the goal I thought I would surely get. But maybe playing it to the end was worth it because I actually really liked some of the final bits of the story and the ending. It felt somehow refreshing for a video game ending.

I used to climb various towers as a teenager, but not those narrow radio towers, and not that high. I also climbed a lot of pine trees and always tried to get to the very top so that I could stick my head out above the forest like Bilbo in the Hobbit or something. But still, somewhy most of the free-climbing videos make me a bit queasy, while the bike video makes me feel excited like I'd want to do that if it was a bit safer.

Looks great! Seems to play more like The Witcher 2 than I expected, but that's probably good as hopefully it means they can focus more on the content since the tech is in place. I hope hunting monsters like the Griffin will be a relatively larger part of the game than in The Witcher 2. Although after having read the books I'm not as convinced as before that being Geralt should be all about monster hunting and less about politics, I wouldn't mind if that aspect was more emphasized for the games.

Yeah, I was fascinated with this at first, and thought it was the best puzzle game ever, but then at one point it really did get too complicated -- the limited instruction set annoyance comparison fits perfectly.

Q: Wait, but what if I really really like STALKER, shouldn't I still back this? A: No.

I don't go to theatre that often, but usually if the movie just opened it's tough to get seats, and in some cases for really popular ones, but I haven't had a problem getting seats on the same day. Mostly my friend buys tickets though (he has some kind of thing going on which allows him to get them a lot cheaper) a couple of days in advance. But sometimes I just go see something on a whim and haven't had problems with seating, so yeah maybe it's the population to theatres ratio or something that is the problem.
-
I don't think we ever had non-assigned seating in Tallinn's cinemas. It's definitely not as big problem as you make it out to be -- or if it is from your experience then there must be other contributing factors than the assigned seating itself.

There is no official Loudest BandTM But nowadays I kind of wish I had listened to less Manowar in my teens so I would have more of my hearing preserved.
