Twin Peaks Rewatch 51: The Return, Part 16
Kolzig replied to Jake's topic in Twin Peaks Rewatch Episodes
I have had a lot of issues with Twin Peaks, especially in the S3 first episodes, but it's all coming together so nicely. This was an extremely damn good episode. I was so close to shouting YES YES YES in that wrestling meme style when Dale Cooper said to Bushnell " I am the FBI". My dog thought I was nuts, and I almost woke up my wife and daughter when the clock was 5AM at that point. Also Jim Belushi's face when he was drinking that Bloody Mary, so awesome. -
Yeah, it should still work if you open in web browser steam://install/92 and you need to have Steam client open.

Thanks for A Dark Room endorsement. I noticed it's free again for Android for the next three days. Going to check it out. On iOS it seems to cost 2€ in Europe at least.

I've been reading about some people talking about Jurassic Park:Operation Genesis now that this Frontier game was announced. It's some old park building game apparently, I've never heard of it before. Anyone played it?

I have not really liked this season much at all. You can so clearly see that they are way past the books and just making up stuff on their own. There are some separate good scenes though.

Since I missed the rewatch when that occured, I'll just do some sort of overall writeup of some thoughts. I updated the doc SuperBiasedMan did in 2015. I put my and the world's opinions there. My top five is probably: 1. WALL-E 2. Up 3. Monsters Inc. 4. The Incredibles 5. Brave I just recently rewatched all Cars movies plus the third one. I don't have that big of a problem with Cars except the second one because it's horrible shit. The third one was more on the line with the first one, ok to watch once I suppose. It's a slight rehash of the first movie with some added changes. Lightning is now old, we get it. Inside Out was weird, it had so many good elements with it, but it felt like there was so much more in there that they could've shown us and processed. I got the feeling like it was a rushed job and that the team at Pixar quickly came to the ending just to finish it, so many things seemed to have been left out and only shown bits and pieces? Did it have a troubled development time? I know Brave suffered a lot about that, I remember reading about the problems they had while making Brave. Changing directors and all that. Monsters University I saw in Japan a few years ago, it felt like a hollow prequel to the original movie which was one of Pixar's greatest movies. Though I really liked the performances that John Goodman and Billy Crystal gave in the prequel. They are a fun duo in the Monsters movies and seems like a perfect match, I wonder how much search did Pixar have to do in order to find these two excellent guys to do the voices. But yeah, just like Problem Machine said earlier, Monsters U is still ok, but compared to many other Pixar movies it just is nothing special. The only Pixar movies I haven't seen yet are The Good Dinosaur and Finding Dory. The dinosaur movie I intend to see at some point, but Dory I don't care about much at all.

Ohh, I read somewhere a good suggestion for this kind of game. First it's like a normal park building game where you build the park and make it like a Disney world for tourists. Then when your park is up and running with park totally full of people you start to get the usual "technical issues" with the park and shit will start to hit the fan. Ultimately it transforms into a first person view where you as the park designer have to run in terror when the dinosaurs take over and ultimately your goal is to either die or escape the park. Then totally depending on what kind of park you made, the experience is based on that. So if you made a really loosely designed park, then all the dinosaurs are coming for you quickly. So it could be like Planet Coaster for the first half and like Alien Isolation for the second half.

I finally finished it today. I had a break for little bit over the week. Seems I had played it first to about half point in the game. Really liked so many things about Tacoma. Carl Lumbly was a fine choice for voice actor as Odin! The Thumbs guys really do get some amazing talent to do the voicework in their games. I really liked the story, but in some ways it lacked the punch that Gone Home had in it's story arch. The story was still really good. Way better than most modern scifi movies for example. And as a overall game experience I liked Tacoma a lot more than Gone Home. The whole AR recording is a game changer, that was incredible and so well done with rewinding and fastforwarding all working smoothly. Also interesting to see the pre-alpha videos in youtube now and compare that to the finished product. Many things changed, but many elements also stayed and just were perfected. If I would have to comment on something on the negative side, I perhaps would've wished to have more puzzles in various forms to interact more with the station.

Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)
Kolzig replied to dartmonkey's topic in Video Gaming
How much can adjust the screen brightness on Switch? Can you set it to be really low light so that gaming in dark is easy on the eyes? I dislike PS Vita because it's so damn bright even on the lowest brightness setting. I can never play with that in evenings. 3DS has good brightness settings. -
Important If True 13: "Veggie" Panino and the Nightmare Puzzler

One of my German colleagues at work has that sneezing that Chris was talking about. When it was cloudy he never was sneezing outside, but through all these years working together always when we are walking outside to lunch on sunny weather he somewhat hilariously (to me) starts uncontrollably sneezing. He also can't stop until we get back inside. -

Twin Peaks Rewatch 49: The Return, Part 14
Kolzig replied to Jake's topic in Twin Peaks Rewatch Episodes
Yes, it was exactly that. I was almost expecting Bob to appear from the pilot scene when James passed that one corner with the pipes. This was the best episode so far in this season. Excellent all the way. Was it really supposed to be Billy in the jail cell? -
I have got both, but can't say much about either yet. I have played the Zen Pinball 3D game just for 10 minutes or so. Can't form opinions about it yet, except that the 3D is nicely done. Little Acorns has got great reviews back when it was released, but that one I haven't even started to play.

Well, Craig said he wouldn't do it, but when you slap enough money on the table, that makes heads turn.

For me Indy 4 had one good scene in the whole movie, the rest is forgettable and bad. The scene at Indy's house I liked, it was somewhere close to the beginning part of the movie. I've tried to forget most of this movie, but that scene has stayed in my memory.

The only thing that interests me about this project is that it's developed by Brad Muir. But since it's a card game, I'm not interested in the game itself.

Second season is coming soon, I will be in Japan when it's released in October and won't be seeing Stranger Things before December most likely unless I keep the subscription open and watch it with my tablet instead of looking it properly from tv. I think I will just wait.

Lego Movie had some fun bits for me, but overall it was a mediocre mashup of a lot of ip and Lego mixed together in a weakish plot. Lego Batman movie was also having some fun bits, but I got also the feeling that the end side of it was quite messy and did not flow so well. But the first half of the movie was awesome.

HBO Nordic works these days quite well. I've been taking every year usually one month with a free month subscription as they seem to "reset" or really reset your account if you don't use it for a year or so. I started really subscribing it for a longer time especially now that Twin Peaks 3rd season began. It's always a crazy Monday when I get to watch Twin Peaks and Game of Thrones at the same time as the episodes come out. HBO has a lot of great tv content, but the movie content sucks. They clearly seem to not be interested at all in doing anything tv related and leave that completely for Netflix, Viaplay and other competitors. What I really like is that they seem to now have the complete HBO tv catalog for the viewers to watch. Originally for example stuff like Spawn animated series and Oz was missing. What I'm wondering is that I seem to remember reading HBO having a long tv movie history, but I don't see many HBO made movies in the movie section? The service only has the Nordic subtitles in four languages or then you can choose to not have any subtitles. It's a bit annoying that there is no english subtitles option. I don't know what is the reason behind that? The app is a bit pain to use, because I especially dislike the recently watched bit that keeps having all the stuff that you have watched, I would like an option to remove stuff from that watched list so that I could keep an easier follow up of actual shows that I'm in the middle of watching right now. Also, I really dislike that they are still using Flash in the website for all the video content and not html5. I really hate that I can't use the website with Firefox. They should get on with the program and get rid of Flash.

Looks like this might happen now that Snyder and his wife have stepped out. They look to be cancelling out Snyder's stuff as Joss Whedon is now handling Justice League to the finish line. They reportedly threw all the dialogue scenes away and are going film again all the non-action scenes with a new script now. With a moustached Henry Cavill as Superman, and they will digitally apparently remove the moustache. That must look so weird as possible. I saw Wonder Woman finally some time ago, it was quite ok movie. I liked the twists, but They should just reboot the whole shit, just cancel Justice League and destroy all existing physical and digital copies of Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman. Wonder Woman they can keep as a starting point. They can even keep all the actors and actresses since those are so far ok.

I don't like JJ Abrams or the movies he directs. Strangely I've for some reason seen everything he has directed except Super 8. Seems as producer he seems to do better. Cloverfield was ok, though I lost interest after the cause of everything was unveiled and after that the movie was just not that great. I saw 10 Cloverfield Lane a few months ago and I liked that quite a lot more, John Goodman was great!

Saw Spectre like a year ago, the opening scene was amazing! Like brilliantly shot and executed. The whole movie then again was a mess. I hated the whole plot. Adding in Blofeld was good, but they way they changed Bond's whole history is dumb. Casino Royale was great, Quantum of Solace was a boring movie and the only thing I remember about it is James Bond's wonderful jacket from the ending scene. That's a jacket I would like to own, but it costs a fortune like all product placements in Bond movies. Skyfall had some good scenes, but ultimately it was way too long and also started to introduce dumb history bits to Bond legacy that were just really bad.

Looking at this post over ten years later makes me feel so sad. They really did ruin that fourth movie, damn.

Excellent news, this is really great. He gets to work on the sequel to Ori and the first Ori was amazing. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-08-07-creator-of-canned-metroid-fan-project-am2r-hired-to-work-on-ori-sequel

Twin Peaks Rewatch 48: The Return, Part 13
Kolzig replied to Jake's topic in Twin Peaks Rewatch Episodes
I thought the double header meant killing the warden and then going to Vegas to possibly kill Dougie. They did the first one so they are going to Vegas now.
