  1. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

http://www.starwars.com/news/the-official-title-for-star-wars-episode-viii-revealed The Last Jedi I saw Rogue One around Christmas, ok action movie, way better than the trainwreck Ep7. Human cgi characters were dumb and ugly, especially Tarkin.
  2. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Shame that Nintendo didn't use this Zelda weeks concept as a chance to promote again the Four Swords Anniversary edition that was only available for a limited time on 3DS years ago before I had a 3DS...
  3. The Big FPS Playthrough MISSION COMPLETE

Hijacking this thread to mention that SWAT 4 is out now finally for purchase digitally. I'm too lazy to make separate thread for this classic Irrational Games tactical shootie shooter. The great Irrational game has just been finally released on gog.com as worldwide digital exclusive. For a very long time I was thinking why SWAT 4 is not found anywhere for purchase. https://www.gog.com/news/release_swat_4_gold_edition https://www.gog.com/news/swat_4_devs_talk_storytelling_authenticity_and_creating_a_legend
  4. anyone else excited about Resident Evil 7?

I wonder have they fixed the demo already on PC for older machines? Or the full game? I had to uninstall the demo since it crashed always after the intro video. Also I found it hilarious that Capcom made almost launch DLC for the game and announced it before the game was even out yet. Good old Capcom, never changing it's ways.
  5. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Just put in an order for Breath of the Wild on Wii U. Crazy, it's just 39 days away from release. Soon it's Link time!
  6. A Decade Ago: The Games of 2007 Thread

Crush got rereleased on 3DS later in 2012. It looks quite different and the console's 3D slider was made useful in it. I've never played the original PSP version myself, but the 3DS version was fun.
  7. General Video Game Deals Thread

Amazon's website exists in only few European countries. Now they have in Amazon Germany free shipping to Finland which is cool, but I don't think I can get Prime from there as I think the Prime there is meant for Germany and Austria.
  8. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

This was a pretty much great Direct from start to finish. So many games, so many Fire Emblems. So Fire Emblem Echoes aka Fire Emblem Gaiden remake coming for 3DS now in May 2017 and two Amiibos as well, Fire Emblem Warriors coming for Switch and New 3DS autumn 2017. Also Fire Emblem main series new entry coming to Switch in 2018. And then also we get the first look at the Android & iOS FE game Fire Emblem Heroes. Game is coming in two weeks to Android first, which took me completely by surprise as I had thought Nintendo sold their soul to Tim Cook. Voting for the heroes is open, you can vote once per day during two weeks starting today. You have to link your My Nintendo account and it will show apparently your voting history. You will also get once 200 platinum points to My Nintendo when voting. http://www.fire-emblem-heroes.com E: Super Mario Run has been confirmed to launch in March for Android. So four months was the exclusivity period for iOS.
  9. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Also what that link I posted says to be interesting is that the pro controller would have analog triggers. That's what would enable the rumoured Gamecube Virtual Console support in Switch.
  10. General Video Game Deals Thread

Anybody have any idea where in Europe would be cheapest pre-order price for Breath of the Wild for Wii U? I've seen Finnish shops have it for 59.90€.
  11. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

https://mynintendonews.com/2017/01/16/syrenne-mcnulty-a-nintendo-switch-developer-shares-further-details/ Here's apparently some details regarding the joy-cons and other details. The size of Switch looks to me to be thinner and lighter than Wii U gamepad, screen about the same size, but overall physical size is a tiny bit smaller than Wii U.
  12. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Seriously, what games are even coming out for the 3DS anymore? Dragon Quest 8 is this week and it's majestic and marvellous, but other than that I know only Boxboy 3 and Dragon Quest 11 that are upcoming. Finnish Switch price was announced today. 379.90€. They can just fuck off with that price. I just knew Nintendo and retailers would mess this up just like Wii U pricing.
  13. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

I heard from the internet, which never lies, that indie devs are getting excited over the idea of the Switch. At least some of the quality devs that made awesome games for 3DS and Wii U are already confirmed working on new stuff for Switch like the Icelandic Steamworld guys and also the German wonderkids at Shin'en with Fast RMX. Finland also is represented at launch with Has Been Heroes coming from Frozenbyte. Kirby has 25th anniversary this year so I'm 100% sure latest at E3 we will hear about a Kirby game coming for Switch during this year. I feel that EA, 2k and Bethesda are just trying the ice with a stick if it will break or not. EA has committed so far just FIFA and that might not be FIFA18, they are saying it's "FIFA" and Peter Moore already quoted as saying it's a custom build for Switch. 2k's NBA seems to be the real 2k18 with most likely some Switch special features like 2k13 was on Wii U. I have to say I really like the name. Nintendo Switch is really damn great name for their console, also the return to red and white coloring is good and nostalgic. Game packages seem to look nice and have that PSP feel and I just can't say anything bad about the game cards because those are slightly bigger than 3DS cards and still tiny, don't take a lot of space and just as long as they get a lot of games for the console, shops can have tons of games on display and don't need a huge space to do that. I will standby the fact forever that Wii U is a great console plagued by a horrible name.
  14. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

http://venturebeat.com/2017/01/15/heres-a-closer-look-at-nintendo-switchs-game-cards/ Isn't Steep already out on other platforms? Kind of weird if it isn't coming out in the launch window. Ubisoft doing a classic EA move there?
  15. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Well, DS wasn't supposed to replace Gameboy line, but it did exactly that and not be the third pillar that Nintendo originally said. 3DS doesn't have really many upcoming games anymore except Dragon Quest 11 which looks just excellent. The 2D/3D game world is really unique idea that looks really cool and I'm surprised nobody thought of that before the DQ guys.
  16. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

In the UI pics that I've seen, there's at least your account's Mii character there. So Miis are not completely gone yet. Streetpass is a really shame to lose. Miiverse was cool for certain purposes, but it's not mandatory for future. Though it is interesting that they use time and resources to build a whole social network ecosystem and then just destroy it after one generation. The Switch itself looks really cool, it's just the decisions surrounding it that bother me. I'm playing Zelda on Wii U as it's last big game and will be looking at Switch in 2018 if my backlog has gotten any better and hopefully there's a pricecut for the machine by then. Anyway if I buy it, I'll get it during a yearly vacation to Japan since currently it's going to be ¥30000 = 250€ compared minimum 350€ in Europe. So happy that Iwata's promise was kept and Nintendo returned to region free systems.
  17. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

I liked pretty much all the software that was shown and all the other software that we have only seen tiny bits of like Fast RMX. There was also some UbiArt engine Rayman game shown in the software reel. I wonder when will Ubisoft announce their games for Switch. The problems however were the price, I was hoping for 249€ because the current situation is that Europe is pretty much fucked since prices like 349€ have already popped up for the preorders which is just fucking insanity like Wii U situation was. Europe is lost already for Nintendo. There's nothing Satoru Shibata can do to save it. I know for sure that stupid shops in Finland will again put some insane prices like 379€ for Switch like they did with Wii U and then wonder why is nobody buying Switch when you can get in current prices PS4 or Xbox 1 for 249€. Also 32gb is such a incredibly dumb internal memory space when the OS will most likely take something like 6-7gb of that space. It was too small in 2012 for Wii U and it's just too damn small for Switch in 2017. SD cards have ok price upto 200gb. I hope in the near future the 512gb to 1tb sd cards will appear and price drop fast. Paid online is a shame since that locks out MK8D and Splatoon 2. I hope 3rd parties will arrive, but I don't know what will happen. EA and 2k support looks right now exactly like Wii U launch.
  18. Inside

Just finished the game yesterday evening. Went through finding the missing achievements today. Oh wow what a game. Limbo really struck me years ago as being an amazing experience. Inside does the same with even higher production values. The use of light, sound, animation and ambient background music was really just perfect. The tension in the game was really high all the time and the dystopia world was really well done. I think this might be the best animated game I've ever seen. Year 2016 was excellent for video games when we got super diamonds like Inside and Firewatch. Both Unity games also. That game engine has taken the world by storm. I clocked in a little less than 4 hours and to me that was just perfect length for Inside. Both endings left me thinking for a long time after the game ended.
  19. Full Throttle Remastered

New article. This time at PS Blog. https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2017/01/13/how-double-fine-is-tuning-up-full-throttle-remastered-for-ps4/ I wonder are they aiming at the February window to get Full Throttle finished like with the DotT and GF remasters.
  20. A Decade Ago: The Games of 2007 Thread

I love Knytt Stories. It's really great like pretty much everything Nifflas has put out. It's been years since I last visited it, but it's such a short game that it's worth a revisit. Samorost is another short one with the same feeling.
  21. Moirai: Fast Farm Fun

I played this yesterday. Didn't even know it existed until Chris recommended it. Quite a cool little game. Strange year so far. Not even two weeks into it yet and I've completed three games already, though two of those were really short. Usually I finish like 3-4 games per year.
  22. Quantum Break coming to PC

Oh well. Scalebound has been cancelled so it's not coming to any machine. I wonder what is Kamiya going to do now? Already working on some Switch project perhaps? http://www.polygon.com/2017/1/9/14216246/scalebound-canceled-xbox-one-pc-platinum-microsoft
  23. A Decade Ago: The Games of 2007 Thread

I think Orange Box was the first so during 2007 it happened.
  24. Recently completed video games

Just completed No One Lives Forever. It's been 17 years since I last played through it, oh how time flies. I absolutely loved revisiting this old classic. the game engine looks pretty rough these days, but the humour was still great and I enjoyed greatly adventuring as Cate Archer again. So strange, but I remembered the beginning levels from the first playthrough and the final scenes of the game before starting, but everything else I had forgotten so it felt almost like playing a brand new game. I was really surprised about many levels in the game, so much variety in scenery etc. I was surprised to notice that the game is quite long, there's like around 50 levels in the game. Next on the list is No One Lives Forever 2, a game that I have never played. What I can see is that history has not made that game look old, because the Lithtech game engine is way modern than in the first game.
