How would you guys categorize Saints Row 3 (In relation to the satire/parody discussion)? -
About a hour early, but I'm here already enjoying my first pint. Any good places to eat around here?

According to twitter it's Mike Tobey Watson

Dear Ben X, I will be in London during the weekend of 8 and 9 September. Before that I will be in Brighton. But I will be in London during the weekend of 8 and 9 September. I would love to meet up with London area Thumbs people! And since I also like to meet Shacknews people (AKA shackers) I thought it would be nice to do both at the same time. Hence my link to http://www.shackmeets.com/ in my opening post and me asking who is up for meeting me and a bunch of other internet people this upcoming weekend We're going to play cards against humanity which is rad! You should come too! Love, ysbreker

Yeah, dConstruct. I'm available both evenings anyways

JCVD is incredibly good. both story wise and acting wise. Go see this movie if you can!

empika: I'm going to be at a conference all day that friday and I'll probably have some kind of party afterwards. So meeting up that day might be a bit tricky. But I'll bet we can manage something that evening

Because of the alien force field, obviously.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm going to be in London Saturday September 8th and Sunday the 9th!

From the 5th of september till Saturaday morning. Gonna spend most of friday in the Brighton Dome. The rest is still pretty much open. Sadly I can't be there for the grand opening of the Brighton Digital Festival. But if you get a chance go see pixelpyros! It's made by a super awesome dude and his shows are the best!

Don't forget the fact that the hyper advanced aliens who can fly faster than light get defeated by a floating museum piece. Which somehow has a working engine, working guns and enough fuel and ammo to take them on. I do like the fact that the bombs used by the aliens are shaped like the little pins you use in the game Battleship. And the scene where they are calling out grid numbers and shout out 'HIT' and 'MISS' without any trace of sarcasm or any kind of undertone. [edi]t And that 7 11 burrito scene is (roughly) a frame by frame remake of this viral video:

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

until you realize they used some kind of cheap motion capture tech to make all the animations and didn't clean it up. Straight from mocap into SFM! -
We're having an informal Idle Thumbs meet up in London on friday October the 30th. Anyone is welcome to join, though note that this whole thing is totally ad hoc / crowdsourced so no guarantees of any logistics being well taken care of. The meetup is the same day as Eurogamer Expo, which is a gaming event that's open to anyone to attend (if you buy a ticket at 6 pounds anyway). The meetup will not be at the expo itself so you can also just show up for the thumbs. Basically we're just going to have a few drinks and talk about video games presumably. Date: October 30th 2009 Place: TBD -- somewhere near Eurogamer Expo (which in turn is near London Bridge) Time: 7pm-ish (the Eurogamer Expo ends at 8pm) (edit by Marek) Since this thing seems to be happening I decided to create a separate thread for this meet up of thumbs. As far as I can gather the following dates would work for most people: - Friday 9 Oct. - Saturday 10 Oct. - Sunday 11 Oct. I don't know any cool places in London so the exact place and time is up to you lot.

Yeah, it would have been nice to meet up :/

I make HTML5 Javascript experiments that are pretty alright
ysbreker replied to rwcohn's topic in Idle Banter
Canvas is 100% JS driven and has no DOM. You draw pixels to it. Not dom elements. If you want to have a dom to manipulate you could take a look at SVG, though. Sadly, I don't know of any good tutorial links yet, but you might want to take a look at http://creativejs.com/ Spotpilgrim: I really like the song on Goodbye! Did you use some kind of JS framework?- 15 replies

Yeah all that needs to happen to that line is lay down the tracks and add the furnishings like in the tunnel from spanwtree to central station. There is still a tunnel planned into the direction of the auto farm and other projects west. There is also space for a tunnel furter north, but since we don't have that many projects out that way that one is last on the list. We could also extend the tunnel from spawntree to the station further south and connect it to the projects down there. -
The last TF2 team member has been introduced. Meet the pyro! Glorious! Valve also introduced Source filmmaker which promises even more awesome fan made videos. I guess it's a question of time till we get a full length movie made entirely in source.

You can take the tram line to the Pit, it's above ground and shows a tiny part of the buildings we've got. The subway to the nether fortress is just long & boring. and the subway line to the pit isn't finished yet. Don't forget the snowy dome next to the automated farm. Also worth taking a look is the sitting robot in the jungle. And waay down west south west is an amazing tree fortress. [edit] Oh and don't forget to show off our nether XP farm! -
