  1. I'm aware of that! I find it much less confusing and much more transparent than what seems to be their new-player-onboarding "just play" path.
  2. They came back for 3D Land and World though.
  3. The discussion is pretty brief so you will probably be disappointed! None of us are playing it but many of our significant others are being swallowed up by it.
  4. That's good clarification about the fan screening and does seem more accurate to what I'm sure happened! Also that is kind of reassuring to hear (?) about Engels because it tracks to what I would have expected from his work on Peaks. Thanks as always for posting this stuff.
  5. Twin Peaks Discussion

I hate it. I talked about my dislike of it plenty in this week's podcast episode but oh man.
  6. I love that FilmCritHulk piece of Lynch and I think, like LostInTheMovies says, there is truth in everything FilmCritHulk says but also you have to keep in mind that Lynch does operate on an intuitive level at the same time. I tried to say as much in this week's episode but didn't manage to explain myself any better than I'm doing here. I worry (maybe unnecesarilly) that focusing too much on Lynch being driven by intuition and the subconscious runs the risk of losing sight of how deliberate he is, and how consistent. So I'm glad that Hulk's article goes in very strong on the deliberate nature and solidity and consistency of Lynch's work.
  7. Splatoon is Ink-redible

I feel that I need this game. My Twitter feed is covered with it. Painted with it even.
  8. Splatoon

go here for combined Splatooh discussion!
  9. Idle Thumbs 205: LPBs and HPBs Imagine your dream LAN. Sit back and really picture it. If your dream LAN is one where the snacks are artisanal, the soda water is gently flavored, and the wifi's always free, you may be a dad, but who cares with a ping this low? Things Discussed: Captain Forever Remix, Pacapong, Dota 2, Alien vs. Predator, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Psychonauts Listen on the Episode Page Listen on Soundcloud Listen in iTunes Subscribe to the RSS Feed
  10. I also made my own dancing monkey gifs! They were misaligned and had a little shift at the end to get them back in the start position. It helped identify when it got ripped off later on. I also made a 3d spinning mockup of what the Curse of Monkey Island box might look like, which I remmeber people were really excited about. 3D rotating gifs!!
  11. I figured that he had a dream involving seeing himself on the camera and seeing Bowie walk by do he went to test it and it happened? I don't know if that's too simple. I have also been assuming that the Cooper after image relates in some way to there being another out-of-time Cooper in the red room, who we were seeing when Bowie popped up. But I don't have any concrete reasoning behind that.
  12. I get the feeling that they paved over this by having Cooper show up where Desmond disappears. Presumably he is assigned Banks from that point on? Desmond disappearing seems to tie entirely into the way Bowie appears and disappears. Presumably people on the "blue rose" cases tend to have this sort of ridiculousness happen to them on the regular?
  13. Please write in to twinpeaks@idlethumbs.net and I will do my best!
  14. episode's up! Also as said at the end of the episode, next week is a mix of discussing FWWM-related listener mail, and discussing Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces. So if you have the Complete Mystery Blu-Ray be sure to watch The Missing Pieces for next week. Otherwise, please send in your thoughts on Fire Walk With Me! The week after next is likely our last episode until the new season starts up (Crazy!!!), which will be mostly focused on reader mail and closing thoughts on what will be the Complete Twin Peaks until next year.

  16. Twin Peaks Discussion

Haha my first thought was honestly "Oh my god so much more podcasting than I was expecting." This will be interesting.

In a time when anyone with an idea can seemingly throw entire economies into turmoil, maybe it's our turn. Join us as we put on our Unusual Financial Prognosticator hats and dig into the recent paid mods kerfuffle, receive a shocking update on the Team Fortress economy, and follow the trails of intrigue back to their only possible source. 18. Man I didn't read Ben as being dead. Wonder why? I was paying super close attention too because I was shocked at what was happening.
  19. I had thought some of the subtitles were deliberately baked in, notably in the bar scene, similarly to the subtitles in the Red Room in the TV series. Is that not a deliberate choice, and just something that shows up in some editions of the film? I had always thought the subtitles-over-barely-perceptible-English in those scenes was making a deliberate connection!
  20. The podcast episode is up. Thanks everyone for watching and listening along with us! Also my favorite simple summary of the Mad Men finale is probably this tweet from Devin Faraci: "Holy fuck the final bit of MAD MEN is a punchline AND a summation AND an amazing question left for you to answer."
  21. The End of Mad Men 6: The Milk and Honey Route After a string of expansive omnibus episodes, Mad Men's focus tightens this week for a pointed dive into the depths of Don, Betty, and Pete. Join us in discussing Mad Men's penultimate episode, "The Milk and Honey Route." Listen on the Episode Page Listen on Soundcloud Subscribe to the RSS Feed Subscribe in iTunes
  22. I like how little Lucy seems to think of the Miss Twin Peaks proceedings.
  23. Idle Thumbs 207: Bublé Bloodborne Bloodbeef This week everybody gets a window into Sean and Danielle's Bloodborne-consumed lives, everybody is convinced by Spaff to play Westerado, and while only Danielle played "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture," everybody else was quite taken with her description of the experience. Things Discussed: Bloodborne, Splatoon, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Team Fortress 2, Westerado Double Barrelled, Dream Phone, Guitar Hero Live, Duet, Escape, Xbox Avatar Editor Listen on the Episode Page Listen on Soundcloud Listen in iTunes Subscribe to the RSS Feed
