Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready
tabacco replied to SuperBiasedMan's topic in Idle Banter
Hey, I finally remembered to post something! We decided to do hot pot last night, which is I guess a debatable amount of cooking, but whatever. The overall spread: And a closeup of the veggies for the curious. There's potato, kabocha squash, bamboo shoot, lotus root (frozen, we had some left over from last time), enoki mushrooms, maitake mushrooms, fried tofu skins, and napa cabbage (not actually in this picture): And the condiment lineup. My personal mix is hoi sin sauce, soy sauce, garlic, sambal, and vinegar. The silver can is some sort of shrimp paste, which I can't eat. -
Ah, the source of a classic Conan bit:

Worth noting that it's only $40 if you don't care about skins and unlockable items in other Blizzard games. They try really hard to push the $60 edition though. -

I tried it out a little bit last night, but was running into some horrible network lag. I'll try again this weekend and hope it was just temporary transit troubles upstream somewhere. -
I'll do some digging, I think it's currently hardcoded into the forum software. Yeah good point. I've turned the option off (or on, depending on how you want to look at it). It's a holdover from long long ago, and doesn't really have much point now.

If we're talking ages, I was in high school when the first book was published, but I didn't read it immediately. I worked for a library all through high school, and I think our childrens' librarian at the time said I should check it out. I was probably around 18 at that point, so I actually read most of the books in college or shortly after. I didn't read a lot of YA before (or after), though, so I have almost no picture of what that scene was like.

Not acceptable. Please be respectful or go elsewhere. While not offensive, this is also not an acceptable way to hold a conservation. If you can't post constructively, don't.

Oh, in that case it's really not a long trip from Pier 39 (where the sea lions are) to Crissy Field. Basically just follow the coast. It's about an hour's walk, but is pretty scenic once you get out of the Fisherman's Wharf area: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/PIER+39,+San+Francisco,+CA/Crissy+Field,+1199+E+Beach,+San+Francisco,+CA+94129/@37.805538,-122.4457157,15z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x808580fc8bb3211d:0xbaf631600de6b39e!2m2!1d-122.409821!2d37.808673!1m5!1m1!1s0x808586dc8525b355:0x5b15912201aa3600!2m2!1d-122.4640618!2d37.8039069!3e2

It's not too far from Crissy Field Parking can be really bad, though, if you're driving. Speaking of which, if you're driving a rental car, make really really sure you don't leave anything you care about visible in the car. Car breakins are through the roof in that area because so many tourists leave electronics and things in rental cars.

Can you share the map? I'm curious

I do genuinely hate Snapchat's UI. It's genuinely horrible. -
Yeah, we know it's a problem. Options are being explored

It wasn't passive-aggressive, it was just aggressive. FYI. -

Rather than being hilariously condescending for a new poster, why not answer the question? So far something like half of your posts have accused other forum members of 'trolling' for disagreeing with you. If you can't carry on an actual discussion, I suggest you go find a forum that welcomes that kind of behavior. -

He notes in the comments: I'm not too up on my gluten-free products, but some good quality gluten-free breadcrumbs should work, or make your own by toasting gluten-free bread and running it through a food processor. -

I haven't tried it, but the source is reputable: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2014/03/the-best-black-bean-burger-recipe.html Also of course there's this list: http://bobs-burgers.wikia.com/wiki/Burger_of_the_Day -

Oh, yeah, looks like it doesn't assert that the episode slug matches the show slug. So you get the wrong template applied to the page. Will add that to my to-fix list. -
I'm starting to think there's even a chance that California might matter in the primaries (in June), which is just crazy.

Whenever Sean's not on the podcast, all the other hosts should be saying "Where's Sean?"

Oh man, I was just talking about making a shepherd's (Cottage, I suppose) pie this morning. I strongly endorse this recipe: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/member/views/shepherds-pie-from-cooks-illustrated-52903521 It's got the signature cooks illustrated insane-sounding-step in there, but it makes for super tender beef. -
Henroid, dial it down by about 500% please. If you can't, please just stay out of this thread.
-
This thread is now apparently just arguing about the purpose of this thread.

I started to buy tickets, but $20 was more than I wanted to pay for game demos.
