  1. Sean talked me into buying it the other night, and he's 100% correct that it's a great game. Like, super good.
  2. Too bad for you, then? So, you're happy to ignore social issues and think journalists should be robots? Reviewers don't review objectively, that's the whole point of reviewing media. How do you review a game, film, or TV show objectively?
  3. I would hope nobody would be so rude as to demand something like that. I'm pretty sure nobody on these forums would.
  4. These just went out about an hour ago, so hopefully you've received one! If not, hit up support@idlethumbs.net.
  5. Sports!

  6. April Fool's Roundup

It's not really an april fools day thing specifically, but http://www.homestarrunner.com posted their first update in 4 years today. And it comes with sweet Windows 98 themes.
  7. Twitter :)

    Shockingly, @tabacco
  8. BioShock Infinite

    LET IT GO.
  9. BioShock Infinite

aperson, Zeus, you both need to let it go. Ignore each other if that's what it takes, the forum supports that.
  10. Reading about Games

It's pretty rare that we step in and lock threads that get out of control, because threads rarely seem to get out of control. Remember: If you don't like someone's opinion, you're welcome to respond and disagree, but there's no call to be either dismissive or insulting while doing so. If that's all you've got, it's probably better to just accept that you don't agree with someone and let it go.
  11. Idle Thumbs GDC Meetup 2014 - 3/20 9pm at Dear Mom

You probably already found this out, but the Castro is always general admission. I don't think the seats are even numbered.
  12. Wii number exchange

Cutting this thread loose from the top. It's been replaced by the NNID thread that someone else already made.
  13. Fun fact! In the US, you can rent and stay in old disused fire lookout towers: http://www.recreation.gov/ For example, here's one in California: http://www.recreation.gov/camping/black-mountain-lookout/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=72306 It's like the world's most distributed hotel.
  14. Other podcasts

Perhaps you'd also like: Jordan Jesse Go, The Bugle, The Thrilling Adventure Hour, The Dead Author's Podcast, International Waters, and You Look Nice Today The last one's a dead podcast, but it has a decent archive to get through. A Gamble: Comedy Bang Bang, Doug Loves Movies Also, if you like This American Life, check out The Memory Palace. It's maybe also something you'd like.
  15. New Forums! Post feedback, notes, etc here

That's unrelated, I'm afraid. Maybe an issue with a local cdn node? Can you give more detail, like what the weird filename was or what the server error you got was?
  16. Thanks for bearing through the maintenance downtime tonight. The site's actually running on new 'hardware' (actually a new vm) now, so please let me know asap if you see anything not working correctly. Nothing's really changed (I hope), except that we've moved to a newer OS release and a 64-bit kernel. Oh, and some future-proofing of old.idlethumbs.net against future php releases.
  17. Anyone here own a fancy keyboard?

I wish companies that make these expensive artisanal keyboards would at least offer mac keycaps. Even if they just offered them in a plastic bag for $5 so you could swap them yourself.
  18. Fun fact: for podcasts, iTunes hosts nothing. They provide a directory for third party rss feeds and that's about it.
  19. Anyone here own a fancy keyboard?

For my normal computer I use a Das Keyboard (with Mac keycaps) and for my gaming PC I use an old Apple wired keyboard (the thin one with the numeric keypad). It's still my favorite keyboard for games. I'm firmly anti-decorative-light on computers and peripherals.
  20. New Forums! Post feedback, notes, etc here

Whoops! Fixed. Should be reflected on the homepage within a few minutes.
  21. Yeah I remember being in Yosemite on vacation and having to frantically call the guys doing the cat6 install at Telltale's new office because they weren't on track to finish by the time the whole company was moving in. And going over to the new office in the evenings to run cable up to the ceiling in conference rooms for projector mounts before the drywall went in (also, installing projector mounts). And IT wasn't ever technically my job the entire time I was there. Thankfully they finally hired someone to help out with IT part-time not long before I left.
  22. Any baseball fans out there?

Yeah, that's why I picked it up. I'd buy mlb.tv in a second if I didn't have to deal with blackout restrictions to watch Giants or A's games. I know you can work around it with a vpn, but it's a lot of money to pay for a thing that's also a hassle to use. Honestly I sort of prefer the radio anyway, so it works out in the end.
  23. Any baseball fans out there?

Spring Training is upon us, even. Got my Gameday Audio subscription yesterday, so I'm ready for one of the Giants-A's game today (split-squad games today, so that's always fun). By the way, if anyone's interested, I picked this up and read it a few weeks ago: http://www.amazon.com/Baseball-Field-Guide-In-Depth-Illustrated/dp/0306816539/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393612214&sr=8-1&tag=idlthu-20 Even though I know the rules of the game, it was still an interesting read, since it gets into some weird corner cases that you don't often see (all the kinds of balks, uncaught third strikes, etc.).
