  1. Had a great time with this! Just the right amount of time to spend smashing through waves of robots. I almost died to poop, but managed to get through it. Loved the techno soundtrack too, just the right blend for the action. I did want a bit more feedback when my bullets hit the robot things, but that's a juice issue, so not a huge deal. You can watch me slightly panicking and giving way less feedback than I wanted to (because I was concentrating too hard!) over here:
  2. [Dev Log] That Mechanical Meat

Hey! Don't be so hard on yourself! I really liked the concept of the mini-games + clicker economy combination, and I would definitely have kept playing it if you had expanded those concepts. As it stands it's exactly what a gamejam game should be, in my opinion. It tries something interesting to see how it works! And I think this really would work if you had a bit more time to balance, etc. Anyway, you can see me playing it here: Thanks for the game and congrats on finishing the jam!
  3. [RELEASE] Idle Thumbs Simulator 2000

This was great to muck around with! Loved the idea (sort of Countdown-ish, or Letters & Numbers as we call it in Aus) and it got me wanting to try and see how many followers I could get! You can see me enjoying it at my stream from earlier today, I wasn't very good at it, but I really liked the concept.
  4. [RELEASE] Explode Mode

The controls were a bit to get around, but I managed to shoot through to the end. As everyone else has said it's freakin' gorgeous, and amazingly well designed, let alone well designed for a jam game. You can watch me fumbling-ish through (and falling through the level a little bit) at my stream for earlier today,
  5. [RELEASE] Dot Gobbler

What can I say but I believe in Dot Gobbler? Nightmare fuel turned into a surreal, chilled out experience. <3 DG. Also I streamed my gobbling over here:
  6. [Release] Computer Processing Unit

This was definitely my favourite of the games I played this afternoon. Really neat! I got stuck on the symbols-subbed-for-lines puzzle, but the rest of them I managed to get through in a nice progression. And the couching of it in the room with the laptop animations was great. I streamed my enjoyment as well, so if you want to hear me gush over your game, head over to Thanks for making the game and congrats!
  7. Like everyone else, I had a blast playing this and reminiscing about playing hours and hours of Tony Hawk's back on the N64. The car physics were arcadey and fun to mess around with and the sound effects were so damn perfect. Nothing but good things to say! Also, like every man and his dog I streamed this as part of my effort to play every WJ2016 game. So here's the stream: Congratulations on a successful jam!
  8. [Release] In Search Of Paradise

I had a really sweet time playing this! The car physics were fun, and the journey (while incomplete for me) was very calming for a Sunday afternoon spent inside. I can't believe you got all this done in 2 weeks! Mental. I really hope I get a chance to return and find Paradise sometime soon. I also streamed me playing this! You can find it over at Congrats on making an ace game.
  9. [RELEASE] I'm Blown Away

Hey there! This was actually really fun, although I was severely hampered by a sticky left-arrow (thanks to my fiancee spilling green tea on my keyboard last week ). But it was amazing how much I wanted to get to the top of that damn mountain! Never did make it, but I'm definitely going to try. I streamed my playing your game, and you can find it at Congratulations for your successful first game!
  10. [Release] Life as a Dung Beetle

This is the best compliment I've ever received. They were just one of the basic brushes from Photoshop CS2 (since it's free and I love it). From memory something like dry media? But yeah, just one of the preloaded ones.
  11. [Release] Life as a Dung Beetle

Alright, just uploaded a new version that should fix the control issues and also got rid of the redundant buttons. Should be a slightly smoother experience now. Thanks heaps for the feedback guys. Before the stream I'd love to get some sounds done so that the guys aren't playing in silence, so I'm going to work on that next. But given I don't have any musical skill, it's likely going to be me beatboxing to weird dung-related lyrics.
  12. [Release] Life as a Dung Beetle

Bugger! Well, thanks for having a go anyway I'll clear that out tonight.
  13. [Release] Life as a Dung Beetle

I am going to work on a Ben_X version of the game this week, as you're completely right. The J and K buttons were left in there from an earlier idea I had relating to being able to 'throw' dung balls and steal them from other beetles. They don't serve a great purpose at the moment. Also I want to put in a tutorial level/s to really illustrate the way the systems work together. Thanks heaps for playing it and giving that feedback, makes total sense. Thanks! This was my first game completed as a solo dev, so it really opened my eyes to the benefits of keeping code tidy (I didn't) and reducing scope multiple times. Oh, really? Shit. By any chance did you have a controller connected? I think I may have left some fragments of code that read controller presses. I'll have to go back and clean that out. Sorry about that
  14. [Release] I'll Kill The Last Alien

Hey! My partner and I had a go at this and it was a fun little ditty! Eventually my character did get stuck in a wall, but we had a laugh. Congrats on the game, and keep making them! If you ever need help with GM:S let me know, I've got a couple of years experience working with it.
  15. That's a cool system! I think I wasn't thinking big enough: I only had a couple of buildings really close together, which was probably why I failed pretty hard pretty quick. Gotta go fast big!
  16. [Release] World of Blanks

This is a super cool mechanic! At first I thought it was a little bit lame because I figured you could just avoid the dudes and hit the buttons, but then the fact that you have to wait around at the button makes it into a really neat puzzle shooter. I'm seriously blown away by how cool the mechanics that people have put together are. Love the 'okay have fun with a machine gun' bit at the end too. Great work!
  17. [RELEASE] Mad Skills

As promised, played this with my partner and we did OK! Sort of! She was better at the audio part than me, though I was better at communicating (I think maybe because I've played a lot of eSports-like games with VOIP, etc.). Hats off to you mate, this is a great concept to have come up with and delivered on in the time period. Really inspiring stuff!
  18. This was so fun to play with! I loved all the little people running around, though I was pretty sucky at coaxing them out to my paddocks. They seemed weirdly interested in my excavators, though I think that was just building placement on my part (I'm bad at sim games). This is incredibly for 2 weeks' worth of work, fantastic accomplishment!
  19. I actually laughed way too much using this. My (non-idle-thumbs-listening) partner was sitting next to me and I kept giving her 'you know it's that line from that episode? eh? EH?' looks. Freakin' great work.
  20. Just played through almost all of this one, I really found it quite charming (like atte, when the '20 years later' came up I grinned like an idiot). It felt strange, but quite calming sucking up all the bits and pieces. And I really like how you designed around the problem of physics, that's a pain in the arse in GameMaker. Well done on the release!
  21. [Release] Life as a Dung Beetle

Thanks, I can't believe I didn't think to just paste the link. :S Cheers! Also my apologies but I referred to you as zeroonefifty in my video. I was a bit tired, sorry. But thanks again for organising this and being such an enthusiastic supporter of everyone doing it!
  22. [Release] Life as a Dung Beetle

It's done! Download the game over here if you want to. Also here's a video of me sounding tired and slightly out of it explaining the premise of the game. I don't know how to embed YouTube clips or I'd do that. Thanks Ben for letting me know how to do that! Thanks for the challenge all, I learned a lot as a relatively inexperienced game maker person.
  23. [RELEASE] Mad Skills

This is so damn creative and interesting. I really want to play this with my partner and see how far we get. Great job!
  24. [Release] Life as a Dung Beetle

Quick image to show the new sprite style. My partner had stuff on, so I've had a go. Main thing left to do is a little bit more on the cannon mechanic (and some sprites) and the AI. I have a feeling I'm under-estimating the latter a little, but we'll see how we go. Woo!
