Yeah I played with a gamepad. Wasn't too difficult on Normal. Easier than Hyper Light Drifter at least.

I was scrolling through the youtube playlist and stumbled on someone doing a speedrun of my first game! Honestly, I didn't even know you could just roll ahead like that. That's not something I intended, and I haven't seen anyone else do it like that before now either. Very impressive!

Real life things you have done because of video games

The Long Dark got me to switch from drinking coffee in the evenings to drinking tea. Apparently tea boosts your sleeping-intensity so you're well rested in the morning and better prepared to fight wolves. It works! I mean, I haven't had to fight any wolves yet, but I'm pretty sure if I ever found myself in that situation all that evening-tea-drinking will have served me well. Whoa, impressive!- 17 replies

I finished RUINER. The gameplay is a lot like Hyper Light Drifter, though not quite as tight. The artstyle is gorgeously sleek and violent cyberpunk, but the mix of 3D world and 2D character portraits feel a bit incongruous at times, also the lack of voiced dialogue feels weird. At 5-6 hours it didn't overstay it's welcome though. It was alright!

^^^Same. Looks great, but I'm not feelin' the gameplay. But then again I'm not overly fond of arena shooters and bullet hell stuff. The one part of the gameplay I did like though was the "bouncing ball mode". That could be the basis for a cool and unique platformer.

Just played it. Very polished and nice gameplay. Are you gonna keep working on it and adding art and levels? This has potential!

Good stuff, pdotjpg! I really liked the treasure maps in RDR, so this was a treat.

Yeah this was great. Good work, Nappi! Only stumbling block I had was working out how to use the enhance command. Couldn't figure out why it wouldn't accept negative values, before I realized I had to use 0.X to scale down.

Celeste I was delighted to find not only an excellent platformer but also one with great character development. The story had me hooked until the end! Final stats: 1600-ish deaths and 48 strawberries. Undertale Started this probably 2 years ago and finally got around to finishing it this weekend. It's an utterly delightful game that I could barely be bothered to drag myself through. Train Valley It's about building railroads and directing the trains. You make money for each train that safely arrives at it's destination, you spend money on train tracks and annual taxes. Run out of money and it's game over. It's great. If you're into Flight Control, Freeways, Mini Metro, or similar traffic management games I can highly recommend it! I made a timelapse of this one. Some games are just crying out for a timelapse.

I'm on the fence with this one. I do like the idea of some turn based mech action, and I've enjoyed(though never finished) some of Harebrained Schemes previous games(SR Returns & Dragonfall). But I hear this is also pretty heavy on rage-inducing RNG, which is what eventually drove me away from XCOM 1 & 2.

Great looking stuff, as usual!

Probably the highest-quality video games podcast I've ever heard is A Life Well Wasted. They only made 7 episodes of it, between 2009-2013, but it's great stuff with fantastic production values. The episodes are like little documentaries, interviews with the people who make and play games. Well worth giving a listen.

Polygonman claims the swinging IS BETTER than in Spiderman 2. I haven't played Spiderman 2, so I have no stake in this.

Glad you're enjoying it. I liked the gameplay in Shadow Warrior a lot, and I remember getting more and more invested in the story as it gets closer to the end. I tried SW2 recently as well, in co-op. They've turned it into a Borderlands-esque grindy RPG thing where you have to sort through hundreds of guns to find the good one, and if your friends are higher level than you your bullets basically bounce off all the baddies. I hated it.

Look at this pretty thing!

I didn't like Witcher 1 & 2, but loved 3. So CD Project Red are only getting better and better in my estimates, and Cyberpunk 2077 looks amazing. Honestly tho, I'm most excited about that car. God, I hope I get to drive the car! The new From Software game has been revealed and while it isn't a new Tenchu game like I'd hoped, it sure as hell looks a lot like Tenchu! Or, a Souls game with a lot of stealth elements added. Sign me up! What else, what else... oh yeah. Hell on earth. O_______________O

Out of the trailers that's been released so far I'm most excited about Stormland. A nice-looking open world VR action game. Other stuff I'm hoping to see more of: Ghost of Tsushima - samurai-game by the developers of the Infamous series. Creed: Rise to Glory - VR boxing game by Survios, one of the best VR devs. From Software's Next Game - I'm all Souled-out, so I'm hoping for something different. Perhaps a new Tenchu game? Valkyria Chronicles 4 and Metroid Prime 4 - Because my Switch is gathering dust atm. and also TLOU2, Death Stranding, and Cyberpunk 2077, natch.

Oooh, another elegant-looking (and fun, I'm sure) game by Nappi. Looking forward to playing this!

In case you're looking for stuff to add to the list, you might wanna give RPS' newly-published 50 Best PC FPS list a scroll-thru. It's good for finding stuff you might've missed, even though I'd say it's way too broad. Alien Isolation, Prey, and Dishonored are great games tho I'd never describe them as FPSes. Shooting stuff or engaging in ranged combat is like 5% of what you do in those games. Also, including Shadow Warrior 2 instead of Shadow Warrior 1 is just wrong.

Nice, never heard that one!

1) that's awesome! 2) what's that Beastie Boys song in vid #2?

Those are some TASTY GIFS! Looking forward to trying this.

Yeah, I was not expecting to give a shit about a new Rage, but that looks like a really good time!
-
Speaking of dunkey, his latest is amazing.

That would make a lot of sense. I think there's a lot more people clamoring for an Avalanche-developed Mad Max 2 than a Rage 2.
