  1. Rorie is a treasure. It's true, his ability to ignore or power through awkwardness and just keep going and being genuine is something I really wish I had.
  2. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

Chapter 2 is definitely worth seeing (even if on youtube), and there is at least one mission that is very interesting from a mechanical point of view. I'd stick with it at least until the end of Chapter 1 (protip: if you're playing mostly nonlethal as I was, you might want to develop at least one high-level rocket launcher). If you decide to go for chapter 2 as well, you will not need to play every mission to get to the end of the story bits. However, the criteria for unlocking new missions become fuzzy at best and I think no one quite figured out what exactly needs to be done, so be warned it's a lot of "play a bunch of side missions and wait for the next story bit".
  3. Idle Streaming Community: Twitchy, Tasty

I was thinking about jumping back into Elite, and have other 3 people to fly around with me would be pretty good! I'm available evenings (GMT/CET) and weekends in general
  4. I think it was posted more as curiosity than as a knock on the game! My playthrough was roughly 8h as well, though I think I spent less than 1h on the builder. I'll go back and try to 100% it at some point, though that might involve playing a different game as well.
  5. Idle Streaming Community: Twitchy, Tasty

I've been testing streaming for a couple of days now, and might take the plunge, buy a decent webcam/mic and go for it. (might need some better lighting for streaming outside work hours as well) anyway, for very eventual streams you can go to twitch.tv/ratamero. There's a couple of Flotilla adventures and about half an hour of FFVI in the videos section already.
  6. Twitchy, Tasty: Twitch Team

A makeshift alternative for the time being would be to set up an "Idle Thumbs Community" twitch account that would only autohost people from around here. It's not quite the same as a twitch team, but it would kinda work, I think!
  7. GOTY.cx 2016

The Witness, Firewatch, No Man's Sky, Inside, QuadCow (in no particular order) are my top 5. Factorio, Rimworld and Sunless Sea's expansion are honourable mentions.
  8. The final (for now) version of this thing is now online! Go to https://itch.io/jam/wizard-jam-4/rate/100396 and let me know if you find any nasty bugs. Hello, Thumbs! I am 100% new to making games and I'll try to create one completely by myself in a tool that I barely understand. Welp. I have a very vague idea and a proof of concept for Signature Moves - A Nonviolent (Dynamical) Systems Game. It will involve cool chaotic dynamical systems and the ways of visualising them. My minimum idea for a deliverable is a nice interactive art generator/visualisation tool and anything over that will depend a lot on my free time and inspiration for possible gameplay mechanics. In preparation for the jam I have spent about 3h on Unity getting a ball to roll and a couple more hours getting it to render a simple chaotic attractor with a bunch of small spheres going around, something like the picture somewhere under this: I am very excited to actually get to work on something like that for the very first time and a bit apprehensive about what I can actually get done in two weeks. The diversifiers I am considering: Mainstream Thumbs, Game Ideas from the Cast, Learn By Doing, maybe Box Art if I find the time.
  9. Cool, thanks! I guess academia is such a big part of my life that's the first place I look for ideas when trying to do something creative.
  10. [Released] Explode Mode (Slight Return)

No worries! I finally got to play it and I really enjoyed it, it's gorgeous!
  11. [Released] Explode Mode (Slight Return)

Hopefully it's only me, but I'm getting a crash when starting the game. Digging a bit it seems to be something with an error message "SDL_mixer initialization failed". I reinstalled the C++ Redist stuff just in case, but it still won't work. :/
  12. [Release] The House on Holland Hill

I enjoyed this a lot and even went back and checked the other ending(s?). I totally did not expect that last scene. Well done!
  13. [Dev Log] The Bear's Black Heart

This is really good and I'm definitely gonna spend more time with it after my initial quick pass over all wizard jam games.
  14. [RELEASE] Baboo!

I am 100% on board the idea for this engine. Really enjoyed it! The game itself is perfect Wizard Jam: nice length, scope and humour.
  15. [Released] Most Memorable Maid

I'll echo most of the other people here and say that I really like the presentation and the basic idea for gameplay (not many games out there where you have to watch for thieves!). As mentioned by the other people, an easier start would probably be a good idea; I immediately understood how things worked, but had to watch 5-10 robots from the very beginning and didn't get anything right. Starting with 1-3 robots with a big visual diversity would be a good introduction to the idea/UI!
  16. [Dev Log] Historical Beef

This is full of Very Good jokes and lots of great details. I really really like it.
  17. [Released] A Good One

I love this! I'd play the shit out of an open-world cross-country skiing simulation. It looks great, it's super relaxing and fun. I'm looking forward to what you're still planning to add! (also I managed to jump over some mountains I was not supposed to. Oops.)
  18. Rockstar Games presents: Bully

I have started to play Bully (for the very first time!) on PS4 not a week ago and I'm puzzled by how the hell this would work on mobile.
  19. Huh, that is solved in the current build (for Windows, at least). Did you download the current version (1.1)? I'll triple-check. (edit: version 1.1 is now available for Mac and Linux as well!)
  20. Build 1.1 is up! Camera issues should be solved (it locks when cursor is unlocked) and a very special guest drifts in space now.
  21. That should be solved on my next build! My local copy is working this way already (locked camera when cursor is unlocked). I'm adding an important easter egg this weekend and generating a new build then.
  22. Thanks! I like the idea of thruster-based controls for the camera - maybe even add an actual small pod that you can look around and rig the dropdown/sliders to buttons to avoid the issue with having to lock/unlock the mouse cursor to deal with them.
  23. I think I have reached the "1.0" point I can achieve before the deadline. Bugs seem to have been squashed, there is sound, there are credits, there are help texts, everything looks more polished and beautiful than it did. There's even a screenshot button! I am still not super happy with the camera control (you need to press SPACE to lock/unlock the mouse cursor and change options), there are some other things I would have liked to implement (ANY gameplay, to be fair) and memory management is pretty bad at the moment, but I don't think I can feasibly get them done until tomorrow evening due to the fact that I should be writing my thesis. I still want to come back to this and add more stuff to it in the future!
  24. Alright, this is still a buggy mess, but I have decided to release it into the world and fix on the fly. There's still work to be done on writing some very basic help text on each attractor, adding sounds, making colours more dynamic and just bugfixing in general. Known bugs are mostly related to Hindmarsh and Quadratic Map attractors, so use those with parsimony and don't expect to be able to go back to some of the other ones from them. https://itch.io/jam/wizard-jam-4/rate/100396
