  1. The Big FPS Playthrough MISSION COMPLETE

I played a TON of Jedi Academy back in the day. It was my first foray into a multiplayer game online, and I played through the single player about 4 or 5 times. I almost always picked the dual light-sabers, but surprisingly, the single light-saber on heavy stance is the most commonly picked in online duels, from my experience. Force lightning grows in power as you put points into it, to the point where you can basically delete entire rooms of enemies by just looking at them. Also, dark jedi enemies can deflect shots from a blaster, so force powers are particularly useful against them. I think Jedi Outcast had a better single player campaign overall, but I liked the diversity in mission types in Jedi Academy.
  2. Well this is exciting. I should go back and watch that GDC presentation in its entirety before I check this out as well. ALSO: Making my way up Death Mountain; the frame-rate on Wii U was just atrocious with an entire second of frames skipping in some cases. Then the volcano erupted and the Wii U just couldn't handle all the particles and actually hard-locked, lol. The framerate has been fine for me inside the divine beasts though! I've been enjoying all of them; though the Death Mountain one wasn't as exciting. As @BigJKO said in my chat; this is truly the Wii U's swan song, because my Wii U will melt by the time I finish the game.
  3. The one saving grace of the desert is that it never rains there ALSO! It's hot in the day and cold at night, which is nice. I think people forget that about deserts.
  4. Man Iron Fist doesn't sound like a good time but I really wanna see it for Colleen Wing and Misty Knight and I hope they can carry the show.
  5. this segment hurt my inside. Doesn't help that we've already been exposed to this story already at length!
  6. Idle Streaming Community: Twitchy, Tasty

Thumbs_readers is the one more people use, but most folks just stream to other bigger communities with more viewership anyway. I originally made idle_thumbs but decided I didn't want to make it seem like it was affiliated with the actual Idle Thumbs folks, so I made thumbs_readers, and there doesn't seem to be a way to delete a community right now. In general the communities feature seems half-baked. In other twitch news though; they did finally add playlists to stream archives, so that's nice.
  7. YoThatLimp, those spoilers are related to shrine quests, I believe. Not sure if they have other roles.
  8. Idle Thumbs Streams

I'm not too familiar with Kerbal Space Program, but Nick clearly wants to do it, so that's cool too. I'm actually least interested in Bloodborne, like afasthorse, so I'd happily watch any of KSP/Zelda/FC2 Janel of the Wild or Jake of the Wild would be good too!
  9. Idle Streaming Community: Twitchy, Tasty

I've streamed almost my entire playthrough of Zelda: Breath of the Wild so far. This game is so fun to watch as well; I've watched half a dozen other streamers play through the opening zone and I see new things every time.

  11. The game has very unforgiving combat but also gives you the tools you need to avoid combat when necessary, which is great because the hard combat could definitely turn people away from it, kinda like Dark Souls does for some people.
  12. The maximum is 9 characters so if I find a white horse you can bet I'm calling it Shadowfax! Anyway since you asked what I liked about the game... -The game's quest system mostly comprises paying attention to an NPC as they describe a location or direction; and sometimes even something cryptic, which gives you enough context to finish it without ever relying on a quest marker -The combat keeps you on your toes at all times because even the weakest enemy can use their environment to their advantage to pin you down/surround you/hit you with an explosive barrel or even your own bombs, as you've seen -horses are actually good, heck that noise -the world constantly rewards you for poking around in every nook and cranny -navigating the world relies on you identifying the topology of the land rather than most other games letting you simply take a straight line to your next destination -even the basic NPCs have interesting things to say that often give you more context into something you may have been pondering about the world -the shrine trials are amazing and the freedom you have with your rune abilities means you can often cheese them in hilarious ways -your rune abilities, especially stasis and magnesis, just own in general -sneaking up on enemy camps and stealing all their weapons without them waking up is 10/10
  13. My first horse was Named Reggie, and my second is NickBrckn. Reggie passed away in a fight with horse riding bokoblins, :'( but I picked up one of the horses that carried a bokoblin that seemed to be instantly maximum bonded, which I named C. Hitman. My fourth horse, I named Ganondors, for....reasons.
  14. I thought perhaps he was talking about this one specifically, which isn't wholly accurate but does show how different sections connect to one another: As seen on: http://www.tettix.net/lordran/lordran.html
  15. I've been streaming my whole playthrough so far and I've had some pretty cool moments with the physics. Slight spoilers for some of the Shrines present in the game: fire: https://clips.twitch.tv/DullPatientToadTheTarFu gravity: https://clips.twitch.tv/EvilCrackyAsteriskLitFam
  16. I got excited at the notion that Link can get a dog as a pet in this game lol but I have definitely seen a dog in my playthrough so far...Didn't have a chance to interact with it just yet! Also regarding Wii U/Switch versions: not gonna lie I'm constantly disappointed in the relative weakness of Nintendo's hardware and definitely feel like they're handicapping themselves. Zelda looks beautiful regardless and I lose myself so easily in this game, but the framedrops and some of the janky textures definitely take me out of those moments.
  17. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

People who aren't calling it a portable need to see for themselves how small it is.
  18. In my circle of friends I'm definitely the one who is most critical of Nintendo. This is because I even know what Nintendo is up to these days...most of them are pretty ignorant because Nintendo doesn't do the best job at communicating things to people who aren't already subscribed to them. I bought Zelda on the Wii U because I don't think the Switch is currently good value, nor do I agree with a whole slew of things that they are doing. Having said that I don't agree with lots of things other companies do. In the end I like games and I like playing them so I can't just boycott every platform I disagree with (depending on severity of course I will refuse to give certain companies my money). Anyway so like Zelda is really good I played it for 7 hours and I want to play more but now I have a headdache and I should probably cool it a bit.
  19. Wii U is region locked, yes, but not the Switch! You just need to make separate accounts for the different regions
  20. I'm currently downloading the game on my Wii U! It is past 1AM here though so I can't really play it until morning because I really need to sleep, otherwise I wouldn't fully appreciate the game's opening hours. But man oh man it's really finally here.
  21. Reviews have been released. So far, perfect scores from: Edge, Famitsu, IGN, Polygon, Giantbomb, Vooks, Destructoid, USGamer, and Gamespot. That's what I've seen so far! My excitement for this game no longer has an upper bound.
  22. Nope, touch-screen doesn't do anything. You have to pause to open the inventory, but when it comes to weapons, that's handled on the d-pad and you can swap them out on the fly.
  23. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Snipperclips is US$20 I think so it's not a full-price game. I'm definitely picking it up when I get my Switch. I wrote up my own thoughts a few pages back but I really really enjoyed how much freedom the game gives you to do the puzzles. I was kinda worried it being a nintendo game would mean the solutions are kind of pushed at you. (I realise it is an indie game that was shown off a few years ago and now found a home on the Switch)
