Overwatch - That time Blizzard made a non-Diablocraft game.
eRonin replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
I've been playing mostly ranked lately after being dumped in bronze this season and trying to claw my way back up to silver. I'm most successful when I play Mercy or Reinhardt, but when I need to play a high-damage character I just opt for Soldier 90% of the time (generally I lose when this has to happen); sometimes picking Genji. Genji and Lucio are my favourite heroes to play but I'm not actually any good with either of them. -

So did you learn how to reflect lasers during that fight, or did you beat the boss another way? I got pretty good at reflecting lasers by that point so I found the final boss a piece of cake, but I did wonder how someone who never learned how to reflect lasers would do that part. I wasn't sure if there was another way. I guess this is pretty spoilery, so maybe respond with spoilers unless you simply did just learn to reflect lasers in the fight. -

I beat the game on Sunday! Then I realised I was actually missing a memory so I went and found that, then beat the game again the following day just to get a bit more closure in my playthrough. I fully intend to keep going and finding all the shrines I haven't found though (30 of them) -
if you can't find the official one, the Mayflash brand gamecube controller adapter is just as good. Also if you have a 3DS lying around, you can use that as a controller (you need to download an app from the eshop that lets it connect to Smash Wii U); otherwise literally any control option works, really.

How are you finding Smash Bros? I'm a big fan of it, I've clocked hundreds of hours in all the games except the N64 one.

All the talk about JK2/JKA being the best sword-fighting usually refer to its multiplayer duels. I think I have this game installed still, so if you want to duel me, maybe add me on steam? I'm superhiero there if you're interested

I think I'm finally going to try to finish this game this weekend! I've played about 70-80 hours, done almost 90 shrines. I have two more memories to pick up, then I think it's straight to the castle I go. -

The entire surrounding area is designed to be a weird puzzle for this one mission. -
When I first played Outcast, I activated speed in the final boss and killed him in less than 5 seconds, then I reloaded and forced myself to play without speed because I felt like I robbed myself of the experience lol
-
I abuse force speed to blow up other light-saber users. Other force powers can be countered but there's nothing anyone can do about speed.

I basically only ever go to my following page, which is what I have bookmarked in my browser, not the home page.

Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Everything's on the eshop if you don't mind going digital...though with Nintendo's track record in that regard I dunno if I'd recommend it -
As a Smash player all your complaints about controls are puny and laughable mwahahaha *massages his wrists and gets up to stretch*

From what I've seen, the testfire will have 4 weapons and 2 maps. I had a go at Splatoon 2 back in January, and it feels more or less the same to me, with some tweaks to the weapons for some interesting improvements. The roller now accelerates and also can splash further when you jump, and the charger can save its charge for a little while. Splatoon updates can be found on their tumblr: http://splatoonus.tumblr.com/ (Japanese updates are done via twitter because twitter is really big in Japan from the looks of it, and tumblr not so much). They've been doing things like weapon highlights, short blurbs about the new music, and other miscellaneous stuff. As far as Splatoon tips I can give to new players go: 1) always keep moving. You want to continually cover new ground with your ink as well as keep yourself from being easy pickings. 2) get the hang of wall swimming. Painting walls doesn't give your team points, but you can use walls to maneuver for flanks and maps are often built with high ground advantages in mind. Ink is very strongly affected by gravity! 3) don't stare at the ground. The goal is to paint the ground, but your gun does shoot a decent distance. You generally want to keep your gun level to maximise ink coverage, and this way you can also stay aware of your surroundings. 4) if someone is rolling at you don't panic just shoot them 5) if you are rolling towards someone, don't just hold down the roller; splash them to get more range on your weapon -

I discovered a dude on top of a tower who will give you rupees based on how far you can glide away from the tower! My first attempt managed 463 metres, and I estimated that it is perhaps half the distance of the great plateau from one end to the other. From this I further estimate the whole land to be about 10-12km across, so about 100 square km in total. This makes it roughly the size of the world of Xenoblade X by dimensions, but XenoX's world was mostly ocean with 5 smaller zones, so in terms of meaningful area, Breath of the Wild is much much bigger. Pretty impressive! Does anyone know how that compares to something like Skyrim or The Witcher 3? Anyway, I finally freed all 4 divine beasts today, but I plan to hunt for all the memories in the game before I confront Hyrule Castle; and I'll try to hit as many shrines and koroks as I can along the way, but I don't think I'll necessarily go out of my way to look for those. -

Who's excited for the Splatoon 2 test-fire? I don't have a Switch myself so I won't be partaking, but gimme a holla if y'all want Splatoon tips -
Well the game that they're all talking about on the podcast is BotW? Which is what prompted the discussion about controller button positions; Nick having to look down and see which button is which on the controller. The whole B-->X to run and then jump is an entirely other issue though.

Glad you're enjoying the new force lightning pro-tip: you can put away your saber to use lighting with both hands at the same time! It creates a wider arc but I think (not 100% sure on this) it drains your force mana faster.
-
I'm talking specifically about Breath of the Wild. Just looked up W101 and Bayonetta 2 QTEs and they show the whole diamond too so not sure which Platinum game you're talking about.
-
Whenever they make you press a context button, it shows the ENTIRE diamond and the relative position of the button you're supposed to press, so.... ???

Actually, dual sabers and saberstaff have access to light stance and medium stance, respectively. You can choose to deactivate one blade if you like. I played enough of the multiplayer to sort of try-hard in duels, so I learned all the moves. I honestly think the use of heavy stance was simply because its hitboxes lasted longer and therefore is less susceptible to lag in the game taking away your hits.
