  1. Xenoblade Chronicles X - good bye Earth

I think the chapter 7 and 8 bosses more or less are designed for if you don't have a skell, but 9-onwards definitely expects it of you. Chapter 10's boss especially is so large that I believe it is the only enemy whose lifeless body remains on the map after you defeat it, and it's impossible to target the higher-up appendages without flight. Anyway, after doing a couple of normal missions last night, it really strikes me as interesting how much xenophobia is addressed in this game. The responses of humans to the different xenoforms are very varied, ranging from working as partners in BLADE teams on the positive end, to barring them from shops and even several cases of murder on the opposite end of the spectrum. I really didn't expect the latter extreme going into this game, though I probably should have realised that humans being hunted to extinction by aliens would harbour some strong feelings towards aliens. Xenophobia from the other direction mostly exists in the whole "Ganglion trying to wipe out humanity no matter what" (I haven't finished the game so I don't actually know exactly why they want humans wiped out", but also in smaller examples like several xenoform species being dismissive of human emotions. Even then this small example alone exists in different ways, for example one Ma-non is interested in learning different emotions but goes about it in a rather offensive way, while others seem to belittle humans for being irrational. So yeah that's pretty cool I think.
  2. Splatoon is Ink-redible

This game has sold about 3 million copies (over 1 million in Japan alone), which is crazy because it means at least 25% of all Wii U owners (going by last reported numbers + estimate for the holidays, I'd say about 12 million Wii Us sold) own this game. I haven't played it in about a week but new map dropped today, so I'll definitely be on that. My NNID is eRonin if you want to add me (though maybe you already have)
  3. Super Mario Maker

Yeah when you select a level, you have a choice of either playing them (I assume they get downloaded to memory then deleted after the game is turned off) or downloading them to your system, I suppose so that you can play them later offline or if you want to tinker with it (tinkering with a map won't let you reupload it as a new map though, iirc)
  4. Xenoblade Chronicles is a great name for a game. Xenoblade Chronicles X is a godawful name for a game.
  5. Byun has been playing mostly in Olimoleague run by Olimoley/BaseTradeTV, which is a weekly tournament with monthly finals as well, that many Korean pros participate in, though it is open for everyone to enter. I just had a look on the Olimoleague wiki page and in 2015, Byun has won 6 weekly and 2 monthly Olimoleagues, mostly in the latter half of the year.

The ZL button when in flight is used to descend, while ZR is naturally used to ascend. Pressing both at the same time sends you into free-fall, which is useful since it you can still glide without using up fuel. I would definitely say that the flight theme ("Don't Worry") is one of the weaker songs in the soundtrack, but mostly I dislike it for interrupting the many world themes and replacing it with a single forgettable track. It sounds like you bought a lot of skells for yourself, so once your party members are level 30, you can register all your spare skells to them. I haven't gotten any heavy skells since I didn't actually have that much money at the time (I was buying a lot of ground gear since I wasn't finding good stuff), but now that Lin's max HP is approaching 5 digits, I think it'll be worth sticking her in a heavy Skell so she can continue to be an effective tank. I've recently reorganised my FrontierNav probes and now I'm making 85K revenue per tick, so I suppose I'm going to save up for a level 50 skell once I hit level 50. Apparently they require Sakuraba Industries AM to be at level 5, so investing in that one is highly recommended. They also cost over a million credits each sooo I'm probably gonna need to start saving now (I'm level 40 atm).

I finally got the ability to fly in my Skell yesterday, and annoyances with the music changing every time you jump aside, it is GLORIOUS. I took a few shots for your viewing pleasure: My only real concern with flying is that it completely removes the ability to jump normally. As soon as you touch that ZR button, you're off and away, and your fuel will start to get used up. Free-falling feels great though; flying high up and then diving to your target location looks and feels amazing. I've been led to believe that there is a large jump in difficulty starting chapters 9-12 (I had to use the feature to reduce boss level for the chapter 9 boss) so I might hold off on continuing to chapter 10. Finding rare skell weapons has been rather difficult. BTW don't neglect your ground gear once you do get a skell, or you might suddenly find yourself in an unwinnable fight should your skell get wrecked on the field.

I should mention that the squad missions are accessible through the console at the back of the barracks. Griddle, I think I've got you added on Wii U already, so let's hit up a mission together sometime.
  9. Xenoblade Chronicles X - good bye Earth

Okay so here's the multiplayer low-down: when you start the game connected to the internet, the game always asks you to join either a lifehold squad (for people who want to ignore MP) or conquest squad (for people focused on MP), or join a friend's squad these squads are 32-person squads of people playing at the same time, but not together in the same world about once an hour, each squad is given 5 generic and random "squad tasks" with a 50 minute time limit, that are basically kill or collect X enemies/things, which is shared across all 32 players completing tasks gives you reward tickets which you can spend to get normal monster loot drops completing tasks also unlocks "squad missions", which are 4-player missions that are level-locked (if you are higher level, you will be scaled down), where you can team up with 3 other players from your squad to play together simultaneously; the more tasks are completed, the more missions are available squad missions put you into a small arena which is a subset of the map, where you are given a number of targets to kill or collect squad missions reward you with experience, money, loot drops, etc. some of which can only be found through squad missions there are also super-bosses named "Global Nemesis" that appear at certain intervals (don't require squad tasks to be completed), which respawns continually until it runs out of respawn points. The number of respawn points is shared across all players (not sure if it's separated between NTSC/PAL though) They're pretty fun, especially the higher level missions against strong enemies where you have to actually work together, though the low level missions are just pushovers. I haven't fought against a global nemesis yet, they kinda need at least a level 30 skell to fight against. Besides this, other players' characters will appear as NPCs in your single-player game, where you can talk to them to recruit them for 30 minutes. You can also use the BLADE scout console to search for players to scout. Experience they gain from being recruited is transferred to them at the end.
  10. Xenoblade Chronicles X - good bye Earth

One more week until I get back to Sydney and can start playing again, hurray. I'm so woefully underleveled compared to my friends now; our dreams of doing 4-player squad missions might go awry with the level differences. The level capping for those missions don't seem to matter when people in Skells with rare weapons can just wreck everything of any level anyway. So how's everyone doing in the game? Anyone beaten the final boss here? Speaking of bosses, if anyone doesn't mind, could you check the worldwide stats for Volkampf, the Pursuer for me? Just curious about those numbers since, being the only tyrant required to kill (and quite early too), it's somewhat indicative of how many players there are now.
  11. PC gaming in my earlier years (and hell even today) gave me the same frustrations. I became very reluctant to purchase PC games because I was 1) a poor child with no income and 2) never sure if my computer would be able to run the games. I only bought a dedicated graphics card for myself in 2011 after years of not knowing anything about computers and just buying Dell pre-mades (well it was my parents who purchased them). I remember back in the early 2000s watching my friend play Jedi Knight II (Dark Forces III anyone? haha) after school. He offered to lend the game to me but I declined, knowing my computer wouldn't be able to run the game. I did purchase Jedi Academy (Jedi Knight III?? Dark Forces IV???) on impulse when I found it for $10 in 2005 or 2006, having bought a newer computer in 2005 (still with onboard graphics though), and having a blast with it. It was the first time I played a game online too, so Jedi Academy holds a special spot for me. Of course later I returned to Jedi Knight II, which obviously has a better story. I tried playing Dark Forces last year and couldn't get into it though, maybe I'll just skip it and start playing Dark Forces II. I don't really have any Christmas stories to share since my family doesn't really celebrate it. Maybe it's because back in 1995 my sister and I came downstairs to find a (large!) basket of sweets, and asked my parents why they bought them, since they don't usually like us eating chocolate! They told us very half-heartedly that Santa brought them to us, but we didn't believe them. My sister and I dismissed the idea of Santa Claus immediately after hearing about him. I think we kept putting our plastic tree up for the next few years, but stopped putting lights on it a year or two before we abandoned the whole thing. I guess this counts as a Christmas story.
  12. When Australia suffered the amiibo shortages (which we no longer face, shops can't get rid of them fast enough, resorting to do crazy things like 10 amiibo for $100, etc.), shops were importing stock from Japan, so they are definitely not region locked. Please consider importing amiibo from Australia, we're drowning in amiibo. (AU$17 is about USD$12-13)
  13. Oh man I didn't even notice that was the order you set them in. I fail as a Smash Bros player
  14. Xenoblade Chronicles X - good bye Earth

The character you want to have a heart to heart with needs to NOT be in the party, which goes completely against how H2H's worked in Xenoblade Wii. I have Lin and Elma with me 90% of the time so I haven't done any of their H2H's. I randomly did one with Gwin while I was running around the hangar or just outside BLADE Tower. I know it's been said a million times but oh boy the way parties work in this game blows and could really use some tweaking. Also, are you sure you're getting a perfect? I think it needs to be perfect and not merely "good", otherwise it still eats up a ticket. I know you say you got the perfect but I don't know why else it would be doing that. I nailed a perfect and found my skell waiting for me in my barracks with 3 tickets remaining. I haven't been able to play the game for almost a week now, I'm subsisting on my friends discussing the game and this thread =P please upload any cool screenshots you happen to take =D
  15. Xenoblade Chronicles X - good bye Earth

I got my Skell, but I'm still not level 30 so I can't buy a new one yet. Also I went away for holiday and didn't bring my Wii U, so I can't play for a couple of weeks ;-; ;-; ;-; I found this orange-coded sword that I equipped immediately, and it does a crazy amount of damage with its art. It's the first time I've seen anything do 5 digit damage, and it does area damage in a wide arc in front of me too, so it's craaaazy. Binding is neat, but that pilot mode thing...uhhh I still have no idea what it actually does. I read that it's supposed to reset your cooldowns, but it seems that during the shot inside the cockpit, I can't actually use any arts.
  16. FAST Racing Neo

That 640x720 resolution is particularly apparent to me when they're doing the stage introductions, but after that it all ceases to matter. The game has pretty impressive effects that look great and mask any sort of technical shortcomings. I'm on holiday at the moment and didn't bring my Wii U, so unfortunately I won't be able to play this game for a few weeks =( I struggled with Titanium cup on subsonic; this is definitely a pretty hard game. I wanted to play online but the game struggled finding more than 3 other players to match me up with =/ Hoping I can add some of you to my friend list so we can play together after I come back from my holiday? NNID is eRonin
  17. https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAAYUKlLqsgn_Q He tried so hard ;-;
  18. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I played the original Crysis in 2013 and the final two levels were still broken as hell 6 years after release, so maybe if they actually fixed it, they would have way more supporters??? I know I can't recommend Crysis to people, unless I want to tell them "get it cheap and just play the first half of the game". It's such a shame too; I'm usually not a fan of FPS games but Crysis('s first half) was so exciting for me.
  19. Xenoblade Chronicles X - good bye Earth

Yep! There's still an affinity chart, and talking to different NPCs and doing quests will unlock more quests. There are also way more possible team members; I still haven't met all of them 35 hours into the game.
  20. Corrin from Fire Emblem Fates was announced for the game!! Also... BAYONETTA!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH
  21. FAST Racing Neo

I bought this game a couple of days ago, and so far I've just finished the first two cups on subsonic. You're definitely right about the rubber-banding! However, whereas in Mario Kart, any given race will have 2-3 "good" AIs that rotate around the top 3 spots and you're essentially competing with only them, this game seems to randomly choose which AIs will take which spots in a race. The points distribution is pretty similar to how it works in Mario Kart, so this means that the points spread between the AI racers throughout the cup stays relatively low, such that me coming 1st once, 2nd a couple of times and something awful like 8th in the last race put me solidly ahead of the rest of the pack with something like 10 points separating me and the 2nd place AI. I've yet to play online, but I think once I beat the rest of the subsonic cups so I familiarise myself with more tracks, I'll give it a go.

When you change the resource points (data probes), there are two main types: one that will increase miranium production, and one that will increase your money income. There are a bunch of others but those are the main ones. You can see on the gamepad that your miranium/income production gets changed when you select the probe type you want to use. Miranium is used to invest into manufacturers so that they stock better gear, and are also required for some quests. I like that you kind of have to use stealth in this game. The game encourages you to try to find pathways around cliffs and stuff, so in addtion, you also have to find safe pathways around high-level monsters. Alternatively, I guess you can do what other people have done and use the stealth art that Elma has, but that art requires TP to activate, and you might not necessarily be the right class or have Elma in your party anyway.
  23. Xenoblade Chronicles X - good bye Earth

Which mission is it, and what level are you? I found that the affinity quests' required level indicator is spot-on most, if not all, of the time. Is it just because you have to carry a 4th character who hasn't been leveled? This game kinda blows in that regard.
  24. Screenshots. Shots of your screen.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is pretty damn fine when you're out and about It's definitely a little rough around the edges, especially in your home city and the lack of any sort of AF hurts, but the skybox is beautiful and the textures in the distance maintain high fidelity (besides at steep angles).
  25. Xenoblade Chronicles X - good bye Earth

Finding those prerequisite missions can be a nightmare, but fortunately most of them can be viewed on the gamepad map. Just browse around the different NLA maps and check on all the hexagonal segments that have something in them; they usually are either where a party member is commonly found, or an affinity quest location (with the name, party members required, etc.). So that solves both your issues (but I do agree it's very silly).
