*waves irish flag sarcastically* Kinda surprised we got that much participation, I feel like the general feeling here is that every politician is either corrupt or lazy anyway so you're mostly just choosing the bastard you happen to like. But I guess a lot of people vote based on their family's loyalty (ie. my mam and dad always vote for O'Hannigan so I guess I should too) It said a lot to me that in our local elections (that happened at the same time as the EU ones) over 40% of votes were going to independent candidates. Most people wanted non traditional people voted in... but the 40% was scattered over so many different people, the independents only got about an equal number of seats to the next biggest 2 groups.

Yeah, I imagine there's some way to fix it, just pointing it out so you've got the heads up. I think varied text is the easiest way to add flavour without any new pictures. Also maybe if you make the comic digitally you could layer the panels so that you can swap characters for one another, or different props for each other and get multiple versions of a similar panel. (it may have become noticeable that I like tackling creative logic problems) If you do another make sure to plug it here somewhere, I'd like to see where else you go with it.

    Errki gets it.
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

    The same as my username.
  5. Thumb Fortress 2

I'm also SuperBiasedMan on there. Just added you SAM. (I like how close our username acronyms are)

I find it a little disappointing that these are the games that were different. I enjoyed both, but they still seemed entirely mired in the AAA ideas of other big releases. They were enjoyable and they added different flair but even if most AAA games followed suit I think I'd be left feeling lacking with my options.

Yeah, it is pretty much what you described. The text loads in a bunch down in the corner, I did a screenshot for you here: The also this was just me highlighting that the speech bubbles you click disappear and then it takes a moment for the new one to appear. The sharing of URLs could be particularly interesting for me as a way to link to a friend and ask them what choice they'd make in such a scenario. Or, if they'd already played a bit I could show them how my path went different to theirs. I think similar to how people enjoyed The Walking Dead's bits at the end where they say X% of people made this choice, focusing on the social idea of that and giving people a reason to interact about it would probably be a good way to go.

I liked the XMen movie overall. I liked the dumb comic book moments with the overall serious plot, it's kind of what I like to get out of a comic book movie. I just want there to be a decent collection of bits where I'll laugh, think something is cool and then the occasional "Oh nice, that's Bishop from that cartoon I watched!" It delivered on those alright. My main problem is that it barely mattered that it was a time travel movie, the future sections were relatively superfluous. Which was particularly annoying when it was shown as such a dramatic post apocalyptic place. Though I guess it'd be hard to do much if they wanted to still show Sentinels as unstoppable killing machines.

I never really got into normal arena mode because even though I've played a lot I'm not actually very good at getting them kills and I hate the long respawn. I have played randomiser mode on arena though, a mode where it picks you a random class and loadout each life. And the load out might not even be appropriate to your class, so you can be a scout with a Brass Beast, Charge n Targe and a spy's knife. It's pretty fun, especially since models don't render well and you usually can't tell what other people have.
  10. Feminism

Not hard to see why when so many pieces of media end with winning the female lead as a prize. It's such a literal sense of entitlement, it's disheartening. :/

I think this gen was pretty underwhelming because the leap in tech is pretty mild. From what I've heard only overhyped news sites really feel like there's news game that really show 'next-gen' tech in a major way. Most general players might enjoy the slightly higher fidelity, but there's nothing that has really been done to shift the way the games are played. It even seems like the gaming companies themselves didn't want to force the upgrade, given how long the last cycle lasted. I think to make a real paradigm shift it has to be about the experience changing. Something like the Wii U pad except that is actually used and not just an amalgamation of their previous 2 succesful consoles. Phone integration could be interesting but I feel like it would need to be a catch all, like having a PS5 hub app, that connects all your games through to the phone, allows you to perform some sort of play when away from your console (I know small elements of this have happened, but I mean something more ubiquitous). The XBONE's Kinect situation shows how difficult it is to get everyone behind something that you want to push into all/most of your games. I know it was already failed tech in people's eyes, but if that was the Occulus I don't think support would be much better (ie. You'd get a lot of cheap poorly made ports that underwhelm people). And people would still look at the forced price difference as a huge downside.

What if someone made an alternate timeline game in which such an alternate timeline game existed?
  13. Game Jams

That Raven game was awesome. I wish it branched a bit more (even though this is obviously a lot of work to do) but you certainly nailed the Mignolia style. Also not sure if this was an issue for anyone else and it may not be solvable even if it was an issue, but the experience was a bit roughened by the slow loading of the images that gave me placeholder graphics. It ruined the look of the page. I didn't explain that well so I can grab you a screenshot to show if you don't follow me.
  14. Thumb Fortress 2

I've played a bunch of the main game and though I liked MvM my friends didn't so much, particularly cause of the problems you mentioned. MvM is even more designed around team work really, and yet it seems harder to try be coherent with random players. Maybe just because of the smaller teams. I don't really have many spare items cause I tend to scrap them, but I have all the weapons so I could hand out new drops when they come up. Also what class/es do you tend to play? I mostly like the three offensive ones, Pyro, Scout and Soldier. Pretty much cause I like burning, I like running and jumping and I like exploding and explosive jumping.
  15. Thumb Fortress 2

Mann up thumbs, there was discussion in the latest podcast episode thread about playing TF2 together and I think this thread deserves to be revived anyway. But I am pretty biased, TF2 is my favourite and most played ever game. So who might up for gibbing some robots in Mann v Machine?
  16. I'm just a newbie to the forums but I'd be up for that. Most of the time I just play random valve servers either with a friend or two or going solo. I thought about try something different and dipped my toes in competitive but that just showed me that even as a pyro I need better aim.
  17. I joined these forums because I hoped it would be an extention of the tone the podcast itself has. This thread has proven me to be entirely correct. (this comment fails to deliver on the puns, so I apeologise for that)
  18. I wonder if anyone will ever read this? (apart from me)

  19. Visual Art!

Sweet cowboy. You say another, where can I find more of these here cowboy types? Also no, actually. I started in the SNES era, I was just going for a super limited palette (each object getting only two colours) and played around a bit with them to see what fit. Glad it hit the mark for you though.
  20. I Had A Random Thought...

I just finished watching Free to Play and I wonder is there a term for documentaries that are entirely edited as a feel good dramatic tale of real life people (see also Indie Game: The Movie). Also I wanna make a comparison to Zeus's story and Jarate from TF2 but I'm not sure how well that carries...
  21. List of things that must be in blah

I like how DirectX 10 needs it's fullest potential but full potential is fine for the later versions.
  22. If he has any intention of creating the event, maybe he could set up a donation drive where people donate either to order or chaos. Donates to order mean that the hats will be preserved and distributed to the community... donations to chaos will cause hats to be burned and everyone must watch as it happens. Also thank you Secret Asian Man, you saved me the effort of correcting the TF2 stuff. I'm up for Danielle being a more recurring guest, we all need more animal puns in our lives.
  23. I Had A Random Thought...

I don't know how these things go so fast, I was going to the first viewing of one place, and when I called the landlady to ask why she was late she was very apologetic about forgetting to message me saying it had been taken already.
  24. I Had A Random Thought...

Apartment hunting in Dublin is not fun, particularly when you can turn up to a viewing and be told "Oh, there's people signing a lease for the place right now. You can still take a look if you want I guess." "It's ok, just cross. You'll be perfectly safe..."
  25. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

I suppose local co-op seems extra alien to me as my desktop is in a cramped room and I don't even have a controller to use with it normally, I always go keyboard. I imagine people would usually ask their friends to bring over a controller or two for 4 player events.
