The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

Now I regret not picking up Stranger's Wrath in the Steam Sale. -
Grim Fandango being remastered for PS4 and Vita
SuperBiasedMan replied to Thrik's topic in Video Gaming
I like how in the article that announces it coming to PC, they still plug it as a console exclusive. -

I was going to ask whether Bioshock 2 would work for me if I got tired early of Bioshock 1 but then I realised I already own it. #SteamSaleFugueState

That's for a 20"x14". To be 50"x32" (slightly larger than Jake's 50"x30") it'd be $230 for the print and shipping.

I got the link to the site and it'll be $70 for the print + shipping, plus another $35 to change it from being flat to a little mounted canvas. This is the place if anyone's curious: http://www.canvaspop.com/ I can organise it if people are cool with that, but if someone who's been here longer than a month would be trusted I'd totally understand.

This discussion reminds me of a relatively recent conversation with my girlfriend about the depressing nature of my extended jobseeking period. She said I put too much value into it and worry about it too much. I responded that it wasn't just the not having a job part but that it was like I'd failed at being a person because I wasn't able to do this thing that's a basic requirement. When she pointed out that's just an abstracted and indirect concept of the male need to be a breadwinner it took me a bit to realise how true it was because I had to cut through the programming of thinking 'this is just how people operate though, isn't it?'.

I messaged Shammack to see about asking subbes how the originals were done cause I figured it'd be better to have them all match.

This is crazy. I had just sent Blambo a PM asking if maybe the community could organise a portrait for Danielle and then Blambo just started working on it. I am all for making a real print of it.

Thus game is great, I am kind of disappointed that it wasn't secretly exploiting players to optimise real life assembly productions.

So Much Ireland (Help me plan my trip!)
SuperBiasedMan replied to syntheticgerbil's topic in Idle Banter
We just hate everyone else so we export those people. Also I realised on the topic of historical irish things, definitely look up Newgrange. It's a super old temple (or something like that, there's debate over what) that predates stonehenge and was basically built specifically so that on the Winter equinox the sun would fill the chamber with light at an exact time of day. It's a pretty cool place and an example of very early advanced architecture. Plus it involves druids, and they're cool. -
It's less that I need a plot I guess and more that without a thread on development it didn't take many episodes before I felt like I had gotten all I would out of it.

Since the comparison has been raised I need to ask, does Fallen London feel directionless too or does it seem as if there's at least a hint of a plot it's leading you along as you go?

Is there a way to delete trading cards on Steam?
SuperBiasedMan replied to Ozzie's topic in Video Gaming
Don't blow this for me and I'll cut you in. -
I don't even like books that expect to read paragraphs extolling lore. Make it naturally woven in or make it totally optional because I'm not going out of my way for it. (or make it optionally woven in, like Bioshock Infinite's audio reels).

I can't wait to see how Mr. Bay explores these philosophical questions about transformium. -
Is there a way to delete trading cards on Steam?
SuperBiasedMan replied to Ozzie's topic in Video Gaming
I think someone on this very forum recently mentioned something about a trashbot on steam that automatically accepts any trades you send it, so you can just dump junk in there. -
Idle Thumbs 165: KeLo. Is. Here.
SuperBiasedMan replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
This makes me wonder how the crazy uncanny dissonance of cartooniness can work for people... unless it's part of the point!? I was also both happy and disappointed with the extremely brief Dirk Gently cameo. -
Whichever country you are of Ireland/Scotland/Wales, just take over the other 2 first and try save some money for mercenaries and you can kinda crush them if you attack when England's already at war elsewhere.

I played the Web version and enjoyed the tone and style a lot, but pretty soon the actual game play choices were rote clicking rather than a set of interesting decisions that I needed to match to my circumstances. Did anyone else feel like this or think this new release does a better job of staving it off? I was dubious when the kickstarter was basically promising more levels but no game refinement.

Oh, I might actually bite on Starseed Pilgrim since I have some trading card money lieing around. The only other thing I'd spend it on is some dumb TF2 in game purchase or something...

I like how most of the suggestions being offered involve abilities I haven't got yet or a system I can't use til later (I'm pretty sure passives haven't been brought in anyway). But really I know I'm being a bit of a baby, I'll just experiment around with abilities like I'm supposed to and figure out alternative strategies. In general I heavily favour maneuverability in games so even a quicker paced mouse control character would annoy me a little for the indirect control of it, so when it's tactically relevant it's more problematic for me.
