I'm @SpencerWinson I mostly post about games I'm working on, but apparently my first post is a video of me riding my bicycle.

The Bionicle line introduced a lot of possible impossible-to-separate combinations.

That's a good point Dino. I was looking at http://itch.io/jams to see what else is coming up that might be interesting. http://itch.io/jam/monster-mash seems like a fun theme.

Well I made a pretty mediocre game by the looks of it.

Idle Thumbs 162: Cavorting Amongst the Corpses
Spenny replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
That was quite an enjoyable excerpt, good post! In the cast when the Thumbs are talking about Star Citizen, there's an off hand mention that playing Star Citizen is a hobbyist activity. The "hobbyist activity" metaphor is a favourite of the F2P side of the game industry generally used to comfort those who have an issue with exploiting the heavy monetizers (or whales if you prefer). Model trains featured heavily in the slides of the GDC F2P summit. -

You know many definitions of acronym refer exclusively to being a new word formed from an abbreviation, meaning that there has to be a pronunciation of PNG (ping, pang, pong, pung). What you want is PNG to be exclusively an initialism.

I downloaded gifs of gifts of gin. I gingerly made a commit to Git. My fish Gillian has gills.

I published a standalone version, and that has much better support for full-screen. http://spennydubz.itch.io/six-shots-downloadable Edit; Haha, I just went 12-2 against a guy in your game Dino. Good stuff!

I use SourceTree for Git, GUIs are nice.

http://spennydubz.itch.io/six-shots Got it submitted. Not enough time to act on all the great feedback I got from you guys. Hopefully it is still enjoyable.

This is not really a bad thing though. I think the Hotline Miami and Jet Set Radio are examples of how the music can add to the tone and world of a game. I think a good set of radio stations with well selected music are no exception. Compare the radio stations of GTA IV, featuring New York hardcore and hip-hop, to say Sleeping Dogs' with Chinese music and Hong Kong hip-hop, both have music choices which add to their world building.

Thanks for the feedback Dino. I didn't even consider that clicking outside the window would be a problem, so thats why this is testing. I think fix #1 will be to add a fullscreen button. I appreciate you're feedback regarding the shot/reload mechanic. My girlfriend found a way to get her score all the way up to 400, but her technique was cheap, so yeah, the difficulty curve needs some balance. Thanks again. You know it -

Wow Clyde! A whole seven minutes of feedback is super valuable. The"pause for ray trace" is intended to be a nice little hit pause for you to check out your shot. After I posted I added some more stuff to try and make the hit a little more crunchy. Shooting hats and speech bubbles are great ideas. Thanks again. -

Here's version 0.1 of my Space Cowboy Game Jam entry. I'm planning on doing some more visual stuff and adding a few more sound assets (like music!). Give me some feedback on the play, tell me your high score. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4536789/SixShotsWebBuild_0_1/SixShotsWebBuild_0_1.html -
Speaking of cars and games with dogs in the title and driving like a maniac in open worlds, Sleeping Dogs is really great at getting you to drive without colliding into things, they time you how long you go without colliding and rank you against your friends.

You're totes correct about the play length Dewar. Our game wrapped up not too late due to a very effective traitor. If I can get 10 good plays out of the game, I'll be content. It's a very pretty game too, miniatures are awesome!

I played Shadows Over Camelot last weekend. One round, it's a fairly lengthy game. Initial impressions were basically "holy crap that's a poorly written rulebook". The flow of the game is pretty simple, your characters have a small handful of moves (usually one or two) they can make in a turn, and the turn itself is a very concise two phase affair. The rulebook instead wants to define all the victory and loss conditions before they get into this turn flow which makes it read as a front loaded mess. After the game my friends and I concluded we were happy to have played it once, because we'll have a lot more fun the next time.

I finished up Flower. I actually played through the last few levels passing the controller with some friends. Really enjoyed that game. The only flaws I think it had were that the environmental message was a bit heavy handed towards the end and occasionally the tilt controls are annoying. But oh boy, it is a pretty game.

Idle Thumbs 159: Wilson's Ghoulish Countenance
Spenny replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
That advice may sound harsh, but sometimes people stick around in toxic relationships for guilt based or historical reasons, and advice like that may be the reality check they need. Not saying it's necessarily true for you, but I wouldn't condemn the advice.
