Thanks, our artists are a super talented group I'm lucky to work with. It's been a long complaint about the number displays, and it's been interesting to watch the people over at r/TapTitans try and dissect the formulas. I think it made sense to our designers to make the UI display the numbers after all the bonuses are applied, unfortunately it meant that when you unlock a +100% hero damage, you don't actually see the number go up 100%, because the 100% is being added onto an already existing bonus multiplier. Swipe input is a novel idea, I'll bring it up! That's a weird one. We'll look into it. Thanks for the feedback and thanks again for playing. I'm happy to answer any questions too.

The only way to save yourself is to keep playing and spend a lot of money on it! I'm one of the developers btw, thanks for playing our game.
  3. Wasn't it once posited that the reason for the "Congrats on beating chapter 4" type of achievement was a way of getting a metric on what percentage of player made it that far in the game. Was that ever proven or disproved?

Sucks about your situation Twig, it's one I unfortunately can really relate to.

  7. Amateur Game Making Night

So, I've been working on some procedural terrain. Unity engine. I had an example project I've been following to write my own code from, unfortunately said example is completely undocumented, so, it's kind of been an uphill battle. Here was an early step, Spenny's terrain with a completely random heightmap, ouch! Then I get perlin noise working, meaning proper slopey slopes. This is applying texture based on slope steepness. And in this screenshot the applied texture is binary, either you get the flat green texture or the sloped brown texture. The idea I'm working on is that my terrain should have different climates, for example desert and snow climates, each having their own texture sets based off steepness. I need to generate a climate map for my terrains. To show my climate map, I gave each climate a single texture, which gave me this: Hmmm, not really what I was looking for. So I cheated with some values to give me this: Now I have to investigate if my algorithms that made screenshot 3 are capable of doing what's seen in screenshot 4, and maybe its just a problem with my perlin noise sampling. I ideally want blending between climates, but I'm wondering if that's necessary. I ideally want large patches of a single climate right. Hopefully updates soon!

No way you to stage 37. That like my second best arcade game, and I get to nine at best. Also, I don't know anyone who died, so, lucky me?

In the past many years, I've made my mashed potatoes dirty, that is to say, leaving skins on, and then mashed them with a cake mixer. Am I a monster?
  10. Intoxicated:

uh o, I'm drunk again, tonight I had the pleasure of seeing someone i hadn't seen in like, 5 years maybe? And i say pleasure like, half sarcastically, half not. Life is weird.

Every month in the T-dizzle we have a game developer meet up, and man, sometimes it feels like everyone is doing something more interesting than you. I have gone to said meet up every month for over a year now, and I got some good friends there, it's always interesting, and I often get to bump shoulders with some cool video game dudes I respect a lot. K, it's weird making friends after college.

Tegan, that's beautiful! Like, a genuinely good fan art, I'd retweet it. Drew is like, stupid hot.

  14. The Hall of Game

I agree with this, to borrow a thought from , games are so large to consume, and so mutable in what it means to consume them, pretending anyone can really have a complete rounded understanding of all games is a fallacy. To this, trying to complete a fixed list of all the "best" games, you probably end with a worse experience than just playing stuff you like, and certainly a less unique experience. This is a real games are for fun type argument, but it's more of an appeal to entertain yourself with entertainment you find entertaining. There's probably better reasons to dive into gaming history. I feel like you can trace design DNA through a genre, and if a genre vibes with you it's probably worth a dive into, or if you're a designer it's probably worth it to note design decisions made over the genres development.

It took me like 20 times to get through the owl boss, but when I did it, oooooooh yeah. That game hurts me so good.
  16. Game Jams

Really cute graphics! The world motion plus player motion makes this a real challenge. Good stuff! I played this by myself, seems like an interesting little experience with yeah, potential for a lot of expansion. Good music choice too.
  17. The Great Debate: Legalization

We'd be going anecdote vs anecdote here, but I don't really feel like you can truly smoke yourself stupid, but if you have a tendency to be dumb, lazy, and bad at school then weed sure does enable those traits.
  18. The Great Debate: Legalization

I've really shaped my group of friends around people I like to get drunk with, and it feels weird when I think about it. I sometimes wonder do I only like these people because they'll put up with and forgive a shit faced Spenny? It's not true, we've had more than enough sober experiences and been friends long enough that it's friendship as true as I know. There are just weird thoughts that can hit you as you're paralyzed hungover in bed at 1pm on a Sunday.
