I think I'm ready to jump on the VR train in the next month or so. I think I'm leaning toward the Vive, but now I'm starting to wonder if we're anywhere near seeing new versions of the Vive or Rift. It sounds like there was a rumor that a new version of the Vive might come out "early 2017" but without an official announcement of anything, I'm not sure if it's worth worrying about. Thoughts? Advice? Reassurances?

Does anyone have experience using a Vive in a really small space? My apartment is pretty tiny and the space in front of my PC is about 5' x 8' which I think is about as small as you can go. I have a slightly larger space in my living room, but I could probably only set it up there part of the time. My space issues have me wondering if a Rift might be better for me since room scale stuff might only be a novelty I can play with sometimes. Does anyone have advice for people with tiny living spaces?

I've reached a point with it where I don't think I want to do any more side content as it all seems to be relatively uninteresting. I still am into the characters and the world, but I don't know if I want to do every hunt or find every batch of frogs that a random NPC wants me to find. If I want to give up on all of that stuff and just follow the main story, will I be OK from what you say in your play through?

If the credits of this game don't roll over a montage of all of the photos you save during the game, I'm going to be super disappointed.

I've been thinking about that too. Mostly, I realized that the emptiness of the open world and the fixed-track nature of the driving seem closely connected, at least for me. The world is a pretty background, but is mostly empty space between points of interest. Realizing that let me get comfortable letting the AI characters drive, and just zoning out while watching the landscape. Sometimes I'll stop the car if I pass a treasure or quest I missed, but there's something relaxing about ceding control and just enjoying the view.

So this is a game that is out already. I picked a copy up because I could really use some nostalgic escapism in my life right now for a number of reasons. So far I've been driving around with my anime-bros, hunting fantasy creatures, playing the Gold Saucer theme on repeat, and cooking french fries for dinner every night. Would recommend.

Who knew that and Dishonored 2 would take on and actually pull off the same concept in one of their levels a few weeks apart?

It sounds like PC performance is a bit hit and miss with some people saying it runs fine and others suggesting that it runs pretty terribly. Has anyone here tried it on a 970? I don't really care if I can run it on max settings, but I'd feel better about picking it up if I knew it was going to run somewhat smoothly.

Ugh. The unlocks are so good. I was ready to be done playing and then I hit Mastery level 7.

Ahh. But there's no list I can just select it from so I don't need to remember how to type it out manually. Anyway.

First impressions of the level are that it's a pretty good one. I found it pretty tough at first, but once I got a hold of my first disguise, it was pretty easy to start moving things forward. I'd write more, but I don't know how to add spoiler tags since the look of the forums changed.

That was one of my favorite things about the Wii U. I use Steam streaming and PS4 Remote play for the same thing. I wonder if it will have broader streaming capabilities, or if it will just let you play your Switch stuff.

With the Wii U particularly there seemed to be a wave of cross-gen ports (Arkham, AC3) and then nothing after the fact. Looking at this, I could see the same kind of thing happening again. I don't know what to make of this. The whole pitch seems to be "take your games everywhere," but I rarely play games (aside from mobile time-waster things) outside of my house. I get the sense that this is the case for a bunch of people. I generally pick up Nintendo consoles since they offer things you can't get on PC or other consoles, but I don't know if I'm onboard.

Seems like a neat idea, but procedural generation seems a bit at odds with a lot of the stuff I like about immersive sims. The levels I love in Deus Ex or Thief games tend to be meticulously designed with lots of hidden paths and secrets to find. I don't know if you can get that same effect from an algorithm. But I'll still probably give it a look.

So I've been playing a bunch of Destiny in the last few days because I've had a bunch of free time. For some reason it didn't totally click for me the first time I played it. Now I'm feeling it get its hooks in pretty deep. Are there any lower level people in Crota Today? I'm 32 at this point and am just playing through story missions/patrols/bounties but would like to team up with some fellow thumbs and run strikes/other group stuff.

I hit level 9 on my first time through. I thought it must be some kind of mistake.

Same. I wasn't going to watch at all (because, really, what good can come of it?) until a friend invited a bunch of people over to watch together. It seems to scary/depressing to watch at home alone.

I've found it really interesting to listen to FatT and TAZ in parallel since I know that Griffin and Austin both listen to each other's shows and it feels like you can seem them influencing each other from time to time. Specifically, I think the last couple episodes of the latest TAZ arc feel like FatT scenarios. Also Griffin has picked up Austin's tic of describing a terrible situation the characters have found themselves in, followed with, "What do you do?"

It's been running fine for me with the exception of the occasional framerate dip when there's a lot going on (usually it just feels like the game pauses for about a second and then catches up). My CPU an i5-6600K, so maybe that's what's making my experience a bit smoother than yours. I haven't gotten to a point when I can join a club, but I'd be up for it when I do. Stupidly the Microsoft account that I used for my Windows install is different than the one from my 360, so rather than "PrettyUnsmart" my gamertag is some gibberish randomly generated thing (I looked it up, it's FootsoreCrib394...what?).

I hadn't read much about the game before I played it, other than the fact that it was a Twin Peaks inspired narrative game. But a few minutes in, I could already feel the Blendo vibe to it. While the ending didn't fully work for me, I'm still glad I played it. The wordless storytelling is really effective, but it just doesn't seem to stick the landing (at least for me).

So I did a bad and bought the ultimate edition of this mostly because my wife is going to be out of town for the weekend and I wanted a big stupid video game to distract myself with. Seems really cool so far and it's running well on my good not great PC (i5, 970). It hasn't quite lived up to the promise of The Verge's review that said it was the Fast and Furious video game I've always wanted, but that could just be because I'm in the first few hours.

Yeah, I'm not too sure what to make of it. On the one hand, I almost certainly buy products made by businesses run by people whose politics are super different from my own all the time. On the other than, this isn't just Luckey coming out and saying, "I support the Republican candidate for president because I would like a lower tax rate," he seems to be actively involved in propagating online hate speech and harassment while working with people who have a long track record of doing the same. All that is to say that I probably wasn't going to buy an Oculus any time soon for simple financial reasons, but if I have the opportunity, I'd probably pass.

So apparently Palmer Luckey has been funding a pro-Trump organization focused around anti-Hillary memes and has been working with a bunch of scary alt-right people to do it?

My sense of The Sprawl is that it is much less about mecha-anime than Friends at the Table's game ended up being. Since they started in MechNoire and transitioned into The Sprawl, the giant robots and anime themes carried over. I think it's mostly a cyberpunk game at its most basic level. EDIT: If you all end up putting a game of The Sprawl together online and need an alternate, I'd be interested. You probably have enough people already, but I've been in a (very slow moving) PbP game for a while now. More than anything it makes me want to try out more tabletop stuff.
