  1. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Gone Home a Myst clone. Ha. Haha. Mwahahahha! Isn't Gone Home more like Minerva's Den without the shooting than Myst without the puzzling? Besides both games being in first person and the story partly being told through scattered notes, I'm not sure the similarities amount too much? Especially since the scattered notes/audiologs storytelling device has its roots also in games like System Shock. I haven't played Gone Home yet, but I don't sense the legacy of Myst behind Gone Home, contrary to how I feel the legacy of Myst behind Ether One and The Witness.

Never had to use the teleporter to beat the final boss. I'm not sure I ever used it on that occassion. Maybe once? I tend to rely on the cloaking device instead.
  3. BioShock Infinite

Thanks for that! I guess I found myself a forum avatar...
  4. BioShock Infinite

Edit: I didn't realize aperson posted before me...
  5. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

For anyone who's curious: I made . Be warned, though: it's spoilerific!
  6. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

LPBB is the one I most desperatedly want to be turned into a full game, even though it's the most frustrating mess out of all the prototypes. Actually, the other three prototypes are very playable! LPBB has nice things to offer though, storywise, but gameplaywise it still has a looong way to go, as was to be expected...
  7. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

I catched a glimpse of the crazy stuff that starts happening in Little Pink Best Buds on the live stream. I tried to avoid the potatoes, but didn't manage it fully. Well, they promised there will be more crazy stuff happening in the prototype than was shown and mentioned. I'm looking forward to it!
  8. I Can't Go For That (Game Series)

Rayman 2 is my favorite Rayman game. Origins is only really good in coop. In single player it bores me.
  9. The Yawhg

A bit too late for me, but I'm ready to forgive. Gamezebo wrote a nice review about it.
  10. The Yawhg

I really wish this game had a German translation, since reading out loud in a language you're not comfortable speaking is awkward. Also, I hate it that pressing Esc immediately quits the game. That happened the first time I played it with two other people. Overall, it's a unique and funny game. The mechanics are very simple, and yet they never have been implemented like this before. I like how you own your decisions. The colors are intense, the outcome of situations often surprising. One person found it to be depressing, though.

According to 2PP, people who payed will "probably get some bonus vids". Doesn't sound very sure, but last year we got more than the documentation of the daily events, too.
  12. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

Well, Black Lake was a really vague pitch last year, too, and it turned out to be one of the best prototypes. Of course barely anything is nailed down at this stage yet. A game idea will have to become concrete when it's executed upon, when it faces the realities of game development.
  13. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

Even if you voted on all the pitches that made it through it seems like you have to vote on them all over again. Even the Pendleton Ward pitch has to be voted on again! I don't think this was made priorly clear at all. A case of bad communication, definitely...
  14. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

All the pitches I voted on made it through, yay!!
  15. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

Where did they say when the livestream was going to start? I missed that info, yet I would have had the time to watch the stream from the beginning. Ah well, it's still live at least..
  16. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

So I was curious and impatient and therefore started counting the votes made public in this very thread. I only counted votes if all three were made known and if the poster seemed sure about their choice. I may have miscounted, sorry if that's the case. Anyway, here it goes: Dear Leader: 9 Mnemonic: 5 Buried Metropolis: 5 Eras of Adventure: 4 ExtraTerrarium: 3 Steed: 3 Headlander: 3 The White Witch's Gnome War: 3 Gone Astray: 2 Project XIng: 2 (sorry tberton!) Jet Girl & Ghost Dog: 2 Derelict: 2 Ether: 2 Mega Rad Karate Troopers: 2 What Could Go Wrong: 2 Astro Helmet: 1 Breach: 1 Dum Sim: 1 Ether: 1 Parabolic: 1 Reentry: 1 Timagotchi: 1 Scavenger: 1 Little Pink Best Buds: 7 Cupid: 4 Damnit Jerry: 2 It may be of interest to compare these numbers with those counted in this NeoGAF thread. It seems very likely by now that Dear Leader and Little Pink Best Buds will win. But aside from that lots of room for speculation remains... @tberton: So you voted for Project XIng and Mnemonic, what was your third pick? Dear Leader or Buried Metropolis? Edit: Added vote for Buried Metropolis @vimes: Which Pendleton prototype did you decide on? Unrelated question: Why does pressing "Delete" in the reply form delete line(s) after the cursor, in a manner I don't seem to be able to foresee? That's odd behaviour and really annoying...never experienced that before! Edit: Updated to post #57.
  17. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

So far I voted for: 1) Dear Leader 2) What Could Go Wrong 3) ExtraTerrarium P) Damnit Jerry. The last two might change again. I have trouble deciding between Pendleton's "Damnit Jerry" and "Little Pink Best Buds". I think the former would make a better prototype, the latter a better fully fleshed out game. I do kinda want to have a playable and enjoyable prototype at the end, and I don't think LPBB would turn into one...hm...
  18. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

It's just the music from part 1.
  19. Night In The Woods

This made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Lovely!

The Vendigroth Wastes. Like most of Arcanum's soundtrack it's played by a string quartet. Oriental Spirit. This orchestral piece from Outcast reminds me of jewish folk tunes with its sad mournful melody. Considering that the citizens of the desert city in Outcast are oppressed just as the jews were for a long time of their history, I guess this is a good fit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YveZ6ZJEHzA Other World 1. Part of the soundtrack from the visual novel/adventure game hybrid YU-NO. The game was originally released for the NEC PC-98 line of computers, which was distributed almost exclusively in Japan. The soundtrack makes great use of the capabilities of the PC-98's FM Synthesis module, the Yamaha YM2608. There's so much to choose from the YU-NO soundtrack, it offers so many great catchy tunes and rhythms that go directly into your body...well, I guess this is as good a choice as any: http://www.youtu.be/hDAE61E0hJ8
