Eh, I doubt it's your fault, just shitty people. I had one girl just ignore me after a few dates. I got an apologetic text a few weeks later, acknowledging her immaturity, and like an absolute class act, I ignored it. It's such a cowardly move to just completely ignore someone, be glad you're not still dating someone who can be like that.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the extra deployments, they're incredibly useful. I'd like to change my answer. Build a FOB, then never go back online.

The waiting room is basically HR.

I want to get back into this. I fell off it after I had a long ass losing streak and other releases took me away from it. Is there now an easier way to reroll your gear, or do you still have to rely on RNG to get what you need?

Yup the mobile versions, both phone and tablet force you to listen to artists on shuffle. It's not even albums, it's entire catalogues. It's terrible, and I only use it now for working out, or if someone puts up a good sound track for a game I play over it. I actually really enjoyed listening to the drive club playlist while I messed around with the free version of that. Spotify has been recommended to me as a way to find new music, but all it does is play related artists, most of those I already know and either love, got bored of or discounted as not liking. My music tastes have changed as I've gotten older too. I listen to less of the angry guitar driven music I did as a teenager (although my favourites are still that) and find myself more attracted to synth based "instrumental" stuff, but have literally no idea who is worthwhile, which spotify doesn't help with. Growing up with nu-metal really fucked me. I want to capture that feeling, but damn, it's such awful music. If it doesn't have nostalgia attached to it, I inevitably hate it. The reasons I've mainly focussed on podcasts, is that I listen while I'm at work and while I'm cycling. Podcasts are quiet enough without losing quality that I can hear cars, and hear coworkers. Music tends to shut both of those out, to the point I turn into an antisocial asshole at work.

Yup. It's one of my favourite games of all time. Made my PS3 worth it.
-
Was it worth it? I've been tempted to buy it once I finish MGS3. The vita version, because it doesn't look like something I'd play for hours looking at the TV, but could easily be something I could play while watching TV.

Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))
Griddlelol replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
The worst thing about the Dark Souls 1 version, is that there are a bunch of good weapons, but you you don't get enough stuff to upgrade them to max. So you have to choose, or you're really gimping yourself. The lack of max level mats in bloodborne didn't bother me was because I only had 2 weapons I used a lot anyway. DS2 gives you mats out the ass. I had so many max level weapons by the end of my NG+ play through and I only ever used 3. I say it's the worst, but is it? Being constrained to one weapons is a good thing. It forces you to pick a play style for your character. -

Yeah, but the podcast has definitely felt much more down than the previous ones. The number of times I've heard "I don't like X" or "X is a bummer" I can count on one hand in the DS1 and DS2 seasons. I think the complaining surpassed both seasons combined in the very first Bloodborne cast. The reason I liked Bonfireside Chat was because they were speaking extremely highly of DS2, while so many people complain about it. That's fair, I disagree though. I don't feel like items and loot I get are the reward in souls games. Getting Havel's ring feels good, but only because I killed Havel. I tend to find a weapon I like that fits my build, then I stick with it throughout the whole game. Bloodborne fits that play style better. I'm rewarded for sticking with one weapon, because it's got a much larger moveset and can fulfil multiple niches. I'm rewarded for exploration, not with gear progression, but with seeing more cool enemies and more tough bosses. I play Souls games because I love exploring and fighting tough bosses, the lore is in 3rd place, but items don't really do anything for me. I like finding a new weapon or new armour, but 90% of the time, I don't even use it. -
I've mostly stopped listening to music in favour of podcasts. It kinda bums me out. I used to be really into a lot of different music genres and went to a lot of live music throughout high school and college. I just kind of ran out of new things. While I still occasionally listen to my favourites, not having new music to inspire me to listen just puts a downer on everything. I'm also the kind of person who loves albums. Music is shifting to this idea that an album is full on individual singles, so it's ok to shuffle it all. It's why I can't stand spotify. I don't want to pay to listen to an album in order. That should be standard. Just give me loads of ads. I dunno, most of my favourite albums don't have a lot of good singles, but as a whole they come together to make one great piece of cohesive music.

Don't get a FOB. It just means there's a chance if you accidentally go online, you'll have no resources. I was ready to defend the resource management in this game, until the 20K metal I had been saving up for my final 48K base development was nicked. How is that fun? Sure I can go try to steal it back, but the game is massively weighted against players invading, unless they invade someone like me who's only even been online twice - once to build the FOB, once accidentally. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take literal hours for me to gather the resource, and then literal hours for me to build the base.
-
The side missions with choppers you have to destroy are the worst. I never drop in with a rocket launcher, and I don't see any other way to take them down (other than machine guns but I don't bring those either). I also got invaded and someone took all my metal. Eurgh! That's why I never go online.

Sorry, I don't really understand what you're trying to say. Can you explain why you find "someone who's not not Caucasian" to be unpleasingly simple?
-
Are those Quiet costumes?
-
Welp, I finished it. Now I have to do all the side ops, do all the mission tasks and s rank every mission. Fucking love this game.
-
Oh shit! I just understood something. End game spoilers (episode 46).

I've been playing through MGS3 concurrently with MSG5. It's the best I've played so far. The story is kinda interesting, I'm not normally one to like magical super heroes, but it's done so tongue in cheek that I can totally get behind it. The aiming still sucks, but what can you do? Everything else controls just fine. I've just beaten The Pain, which was a really fun boss fight. It's strange to consider how good the boss fights are in this game compared to MGS5. Things have totally flipped. The standard stealth is pretty awkward, compared to 5, where the stealth is amazing, and the boss fights are bland. I do really like the camo system. I head complaints about "constantly switching" which are completely untrue. You can optimise it fairly often but I think it works well.

I don't remember her racist stuff. What happens? I hope it's a case of not having played ME for 10 years, rather than me being completely deaf to racist comments as a 16 year old. -

Griddlelol replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
Their biggest complaint is that "the bosses aren't anyone" meaning they're not important lore characters. I love the Bloodborne bosses because they're all so aggressive, and the lack of lore with some of the bosses seems a shitty complaint. They also hate the lack of weapons/builds. I can understand that, but I don't agree. I only ever play melee builds in souls. I think magic trivialises everything and I find it boring. Then there's the fact that all those different weapons in ds2 have the same move sets with slightly different stats. Each one of bloodborne's weapons feels entirely different from every other weapon. There's no overlap. They also hate frenzy, but yeah, fuck frenzy. -

Well the newness thing might not be important to me any more, but as a 16/17 year old, who's only exposure to scifi was Star Wars, Mass Effect's galaxy and lore kicked me down a rabbit hole I didn't know I ever wanted to go down. I also agree...the main story of ME2 (and 3) wasn't as good as 1. I should play ME1 again, I just don't have the heart in case I ruin it for myself. -

I don't disagree that it's a fantastic game. My main problems come from sequelitis. What I loved about 1 was discovering everything. Learning about this whole galaxy and political system from a fish out of water perspective. Humanity is pretty new to this stuff, therefore it makes sense the player is new also. It just gave me a feeling I only get from the best narrative driven games or movies. ME2 I played the shit out of, but never got that feeling. The character arcs were great, I completely agree. I just...didn't feel like I was being thrown into the deep end of something new. It was incremental understanding of minor aspects, rather than feeling like I was introduced to a new world, and in that new world there were both huge systems to understand, and tiny little facts hidden away. Then there were the enemies. ME2 enemies didn't seem interesting to me. Big bad world ending robots. Mass Effect introduces the robots as some cool mythical space thing, but in ME2 they are real and tangible. They're less creepy, they're more gamey. I got chills when I heard about the reapers in ME, but in ME2 they were just another bad guy I had to kill. Tl;dr version: ME2 didn't feel new like ME did. -
Hmmm...I'll probably check it out, but I'm not one for competitive multiplayer any more. I'm just too...competitive and lose my temper way too easily. So yeah, I agree, horde or co-op would be more appealing to me.

Oh, I just did that one last night. Crawling is incredibly over powered on that level. Plus it's raining so you can sprint with gusto if the guards don't have line of sight to you. I wish it was possible to select no weapons/items but you have to take a primary and a secondary in. I know I can limit myself...but it's just not the same. It is possible to select no reflex mode though. Once I've S-ranked everything and all that's left is doing the mission perimeters, I'll definitely turn that off.

I look back on Mass Effect 1 as one of my all time favourite games. I don't think I should ever play it again though, I'm sure I'd just shrug and find it dull. The ME series suffers from the problem of 1 being the best, but 2 having the cleanest user experience and mechanics, which tricks people into thinking it's better, when in reality, the RPG/narrative aspect of it aren't interesting at all. Then 3, my god the backlash at the ending. How did people think it was going to end? How do you end a series about exploration and discovering new aliens and secrets? It's always going to go out with a whimper. -
Optional? They're so good. The Extreme aren't but sub/total stealth are fantastic.
