  1. Futurama

Anything past season 4 is kinda hit and miss though.
  2. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

Sorrow fight spoiler: Yeah pretty much. I had a reckless no-restart run, where I would accept my failings and tried to roll with it. This did end up with me mounting multiple AA guns and shooting everything till it stopped. Which was fun. I think. I must have gotten like 100+ kills by the time I got to the sorrow.
  3. anime

Yes! I hope you liked it. ;3

Guys, I really want to talk to someone about the first episode of School-Live. It's really powerful and really good, but the pay-off is literally in the last scene. I really don't want to say why it's so good, because like the Stanley parable, saying anything about it ruins it completely. so please, someone, watch this for me. Endure it, because it's worth it.
  5. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

So last night I completed MGS3, clocking in at just over 17 hours. Wow what a game. I really, really, really enjoyed this one. I think it's my favourite so far. The best boss fight for me was The End. at first I was frustrated, but then I really loved how every tool in Snake's arsenal could be used to track the sucker down. What a supendous fight. I feel the sorrow's boss fight would have been more impactful had I not already known about it. I killed 273 people, according to my final stat screen. That particular fight took about 10 minuets to get to the end. And then it took me a good 3 goes before I worked out how to finish him. I booted up MGS4 today. Again it's so damn different from the rest. I really love how the enemies just walk on past you if you're well hidden. Makes me feel like a badass. I just stopped, having gotten to the meetup in that abandoned building, and now I have to shoot my way down to the bottom. I didn't realise MGS4 would be such a clear cut of stealth and boring third person shooter. I died twice trying to get to the end, and I've stopped out of boredom. Which is a sad thing to say, really, as I love the game, and exploring this particular house highlights just how many ways I can go about things. Shame none of them are used, because it's just as easy shooting a lot of guys as they appear from the stairs than it is to crawl through some vents to get an advantage.
  6. Favorite Level in a video game

Sen's Fortress from Dark Souls. The real transition from 'oh I'm not wanted here' to 'oh Jesus I'm really not wanted here'. Other than that, the Damn level from Timesplitters 2 always sticks in my head as an amazing map. The scale is staggering, and the way it grows as you ramp up the difficulty is amazing. A really great, memorable level.
  7. I'm going to wait for the metacritic score to be at least above 85 before I even look at this game. I kid, I'm totally getting this when I get home
  8. The terrible wallet scourge of the Amiibo.

Guys, I've over-ordered pacman! If anyone wants a pacman, please PM me. I really don't want to give it to some scrub, or even worse, game, so they can sell it at 1.5x the price.
  9. Splatoon is Ink-redible

Oh wow that's amazing. I can't wait the level cap increase is really what's going to get me playing that game again. Here's hoping I can still upgrade my items before I hit 50 though. That'll be a real kicker for me.
  10. Ouran Boast Club - Planning an Anime Podcast

Just a reminder that the recording for The garden of words is this weekend! Register your interest here This was mostly an excuse to post this picture that I found on r/funny though:
  11. Life

I don't think that's so true. Sure, there's no definitive date, but you said earlier that you're planning on moving back down after the current job ends, which is in 6-9 months. So if you think of a tentative soft date for her coming back to be between 6-9 months (depending on how fast you find a job in London), it's not so bad?
  12. Nintendo 3DS

Bravely Default is excellent! I strongly recommend it! Also check out Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Shin Megami Tensei 4, Shovel Knight, Shantae: Risky's Revenge and apparently Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is now out in the US. Edit: I forgot Fire Emblem awakening! Also if you have a N3DS, get Xenoblade Chronicles 3D! It's really good!
  13. The terrible wallet scourge of the Amiibo.

So I don't know if this is the same as in the US, but there's been a steady and gradual flow of re-printed amiibo's. Even Rosalinas! If anyone wants me to get you some rare amiibo's, I'll gladly agree. Currently I'm waiting on a Pac-Man Reprint.
  14. Movie/TV recommendations

The one film critic that I know and love is Mark Kermode. He's pretty well known, I think. His knowledge is deep and he really appreciates the art form. He has a 6 music podcast with simon mayo, as well as his reviews get put on youtube. Idk. Give it a shot.
  15. Movie/TV recommendations

So I've never seen this movie bob guy before, but this review isn't that great. Mainly because he spent the first 6 or so minuets just saying how bad it was without actually explaining why it was bad. Just a string of expletives and metaphors describing how bad it was without explaining exactly why it was bad. And the high level of spite and vitriol made it uncomfortable instead of funny. He was clearly very offended by this film. When he eventually got to why it was bad, they were pretty good reasons. But he's also right. This film will make gang-busters, and there's nothing we can do about it. How depressing.
  16. Cartoons!

Oh boy oh boy Bojack Horseman Season 2 was released last night! I only checked out the first episode, but man it was excellent. I really like Bojack. His transformation over the first season was amazing, and where he's going to go in the second season can only get better.
  17. Life

That's rubbish. Sorry to hear that man. Long distance can work, especially if it's not a permanent thing. My friend's sister got married to a guy who she had a LDR with when she was teaching in Japan for a year.
  18. Life

Ugh that sucks so bad Griddle. Is there no way you could relocate to a place in the UK with a better job market? (I know that sounds a lot easier than it is in reality though. sorry if that sounded flippant.) That's awesome. What a lucky guy (I'm sure that my parents thought the same thing when I was young. I don't know, however, as I was a toddler then.)
  19. I Had A Random Thought...

The NumberWang Urban Dictionary entry is genius.
  20. Life

Do so, and you'll be that newphew's best Uncle!
  21. Life

Congrats on the Kid Undermind! Also, regarding birthdays, mine is maybe the worst - 29th December. Slap bang between Christmas and New Year's, two of the biggest yearly celebrations (in the UK). A lot of joint presents that do not amount to the same worth as having two separate presents. I know that sounds really selfish, but it does grate on me when an uncle is like 'oh have this slightly more expensive soap because it's both your birthday AND Christmas present!'. It also means that December is a bunch of celebrations, then a huge glut of 50 weeks till my next celebratory period.
  22. Splatoon is Ink-redible

Man I was all about team sleep. When I was up. When do you get the details on who won?
  23. New Forums! Post feedback, notes, etc here

Sorry to be a butt, but the mail notifications are down again.
  24. What's your stable of staples?

For me It's Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Dark souls, Splatoon and Touhou. Oh and also Resogun is taking up a lot of my time. That game is good.
  25. Movie/TV recommendations

So I don't know if we've discussed this on another thread, but I just saw the Suicide Squad trailer and it looks fucking abysmal. Oh look how kooky everyone is. Ohhh she's licking a dirty pole. How unappealing. Incase you missed it: Me and Lady Squirrel have also been watching loads of The League. It's really, really good. We have no interest in American Football, and yet it's really funny. We like it a lot. I'm probably really late to the game in regards to this show, but it's hilarious.
