That sounds fantastic. Random question, since I don't actually have a lot of experience with ebooks: how does this kind of thing hold up on phones? I assume the text-only stuff will be fine but how about the more magaziney-type stuff? I don't have a tablet and don't relish the idea of sitting at my computer to read them.

Basically what we need now is a Kinsey Scale but in 3D.

My mum is basically my rock. No matter what shit is going down with me she's the one consistent thing in my life I can always come back to. I have regular thoughts about how poorly I'm going to cope when (not any time soon, I hope) she passes. I always read "queer" as meaning anywhere from gay to pansexual (and maybe other things) and just not wishing to specify? But maybe I'm horribly wrong.

I finally beat the throne with Robot. Died almost instantly on the level after. Shit gets severely real once you loop.

Yeah, what everyone else said about Steins semicolon Gate. I watched the first movie and thought it was very bad. It was definitely weird though, in that jarring real-people-trying-to-be-all-anime kind of way!

Man, it took some farming for those fucking shells and feelers, but the Gore set is SO PRETTY OMG

FUCK. First time I managed to get to the end and I died instantly. Edit: This album makes a great companion to playing this game.

Damn. I would nab that bundle if I wasn't flat broke right now. I need to grab some of Boss Fight Books' stuff. Really looking forward to the MGS and Spelunky ones from the season 2 collection.

Heh, that's the article where I originally heard about the comic. I don't recall where I turned up Ana's one (I thought it might have been the comments) but yeah, I guess everyone was right that it's pretty flimsy in places. I don't think I was reading it critically so much as just enjoying watching a terrible thing be eviscerated.

Not sure how to feel about BHop's take on this E3. I usually find his view on things interesting even when I don't really agree with them. This time I kind of agree in principle, sort of, except I don't really agree with his conclusion as far as how the gaming public at large should approach these things, at least not in some cases. I'm not a games writer or journalist or whatever, but I do consider myself an enthusiast, and watching big dumb spectacle events like this is part of the reason why I find games enjoyable. Years ago I might have agreed that over-exposing myself to the hype machine tarnished my gaming experience, but I guess I'm just worn to it enough now that I can take it for what it is (mostly, it's not like I'm completely immune to hype). Anyway I guess this is a pretty personal take on something that was meant as a more general point, but I don't think I'm alone in this so his advice comes off a little condescending, even though I'm sure that's not how he intended it.

Reminder: this is the same group who gave a platform to Jack fucking Thompson.

Good to know Mark Kern is still a shit. http://www.zenofdesign.com/yes-some-devs-oppose-gamergate-on-principle/ Like, for real?

There's some shit going around about the Mad Max spin-off comic about Furiosa, for good reason. Man, it feels like it's been a while since I've read about a project so colossally fucking mishandled as this one. TW: everything. http://www.anamardoll.com/2015/06/film-corner-we-need-to-talk-about.html

Man, I'm running into the problem now that my favourite characters to play, by far, are Rebel and Rogue. Problem being they're basically the two most difficult. Compared to everyone else though, their early game is so much more interesting. The worst part of restarting a run, really, is how dull the desert levels are to start. Rebel gets her clones which you can spam to get free XP and zerg those levels in no time, and Rogue has the free mini assault rifle and airstrike. Except Rebel plays like you're constantly balancing on a knife's edge and Rogue has the surprise IDPD attacks... both of which are also what make them awesome characters, but it's like I'm choosing between having fun and actually progressing now, and I really wanna get to the throne just once. I just unlocked Horror though, and he's, uhh... neat?

Wasn't trying to make a big deal out of that specific detail, that was just an example that sprung to mind (which I guess I misremembered but there were definitely certain actions that required cumbersome key presses in 2/3, I remember Drew having a lot of trouble with a few things in Metal Gear Scanlon). Really my frustration with 3 was compounded by a lot of things, from the controls to the horrible camera (which I gather was fixed in the updated version) to all the arcane systems overlapping in weird obtuse ways, but ultimately I was probably playing it with the first game fresh in my mind since I skipped 2. MGS 1 had its oddities but the core of it was simple and immediate. Sneak about, stay out of the cones, snap some necks. Peace Walker, too, felt too laboured and precise when I tried it. Despite my issues with it, Ground Zeroes feels like a good compromise between that less "arcade" style stealth and actually feeling like you're in control of the action. I don't know if I could cope with turning off the vision cones in GZ, it's already hard enough for me to keep track of enemies sometimes. Maybe it'll make more sense in 5, with everything being more open. Like I said, GZ is so confined being spotted feels like game over to me.

3 controlled like a pile of garbage inside of a washing machine compared to 1. I think I got to the part where I figured out I had to hold in like 4 buttons to aim down the sights and fire and took the disc out. On the flipside, I'm kind of in two minds about GZ/5's controls. I feel like it'll fit the open world of V much better, but in GZ's confined environment it was almost like I had too much control. Being able to shoot accurately so easily, take as many hits as you could, and sprint everywhere at a moment's notice felt like cheating compared to the earlier games. Actually I think the thing that threw me off the most is that you don't flinch when you get hit any more, but the enemies flinch like crazy. It makes Snake feel like an indomitable killing machine, where before he felt vulnerable and human. It also takes some of the consequence out of the stealth, even if they do throw an insane amount of enemies at you it always felt surmountable. Guess I'll just have to jump the difficulty up in V.

Girlfriend's cat Ollie with my fluffy little thing Minky. She's extremely sweet and affectionate except she won't stop biting like all the goddamn time. And a stray that we picked up for rehoming, named him Fang. Most talkative cat I've ever seen. Also buff as heck, getting him into a cage is a serious mission.

Hey dibs, add me if you want and I'll totally hop in next time. I'm generally around at this sort of time. 3453-9810-3448. Edit: How do people go about combining armor from different sets? Browsing through each different category and comparing figures seems like such a pain in the ass. Is there a site which makes this easier?

I love that, among all the controversy surrounding her character design, they put Hush in a buddy menu populated with animal companions. Like hey, would you like [HORSE], [DOG], or [PRETTY LADY WITH BOUNCY TITTIES]. Game looks real real good, though.

The most affecting part of the trailer for me was right at the end when you see some feathers fall off the creature and thinking "oh fuck that's totally a thing isn't it, he's going to molt and die as the game progresses."

Anyone else still playing this? I pop in from time to time to see how it's been updated and take another crack at reaching the throne. Still haven't finished it even once. Got pretty close on today's daily, though! The UI and other polishy bits and bobs are really starting to shape up. I'd like to think they're approaching release some time soon but they're still tweaking some pretty major balance things from week to week so I guess we'll see.

Yeah, that was a pretty harsh read in retrospect. I'd just seen or read some stuff about Marc recently that probably coloured my view of what he had to say. Generally he's pretty self-aware and contrite about this stuff so I should've known better.

Surprised to hear nobody here talking about Daenerys' plotline!
