  1. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Pure comedy gold for the 0.0000001% of people that understand. haha
  2. Oculus rift

Well then I guess it's going higher in my priority list! hehe
  3. Oculus rift

Definitely on my list of things I NEED to have in my life, just as soon as they put out a "glasses friendly" version. Stupid eyeballs, so much trouble. Can't wait til I can beam the internet directly into my brain!
  4. Breaking Bad

Soon. So very very soon. Just finishing up a marathon of the whole thing on Netflix with my wife to get us back into the mood for more with everything fresh in our minds. Only problem will be waiting week to week. Spoiled by Netflix lately with everything releasing all at once. :/
  5. MO MONEY MO THUMBS - PAYDAY 2

I'd love to get in some Payday 2 heist action. Here's my steam account.
  6. PC Peripherals Question/s & (hopefully) Answers

My wife uses that mouse and swears by it. Of course, she also can't understand wtf I'd want so many damn buttons for on a Naga, so depends on the point of view. heh
  7. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

I think it's to the point now where it'll have to be made at least 7 or 8 more times before it's funny again, but we'll get there!
  8. Ouya! aaaaaawwww YISS!

  9. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

That's fair. It really depends on how you play games, and how you want to play games. Much like something like a Roku box for TV... you can pretty much do everything in other ways, it just adds in own spin on it, and separates it from the need for a PC or other hardware. The Ouya doesn't really do a lot that's fully unique, it just changes how you do it, and what you need to get in some gaming on a TV/Monitor without other hardware. Makes a good XBMC/etc box too. Whether an Ouya is useful or not for someone will depend a LOT on the sorts of games they like, and how they want to play them. Not a lot of great exclusives right now (with TowerFall and Polarity both coming to PC soon at least), so it's mostly about the form factor. Getting some ACTUALLY exclusive games would be a good way to get people to look harder at an Ouya for sure. Right now there's not much reason anyone NEEDS an Ouya, it's just an interesting gizmo that may or may not fit into someone's life in a useful way.
  10. eReaders - What is everyone's thoughts?

Tegan, I know how it actually works. "magic" is much shorter.
  11. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

So, now that's it's been out for the public for a bit more than a month, what are people thinking? There's definitely a ways to go imo until I'd call it a "success" or whatever, but I'm totally in love with the thing. Controller isn't amazing, and the store needs work, but serious potential and enough awesome games to keep my attention for the moment. For the price, it's a damn fine bit of (most indie focused) gaming. Almost sad that TowerFall is coming to PC now, since it could have been a nice draw for a while due to the fact that it's one of the best games in the last few years on any platform, but good that it'll get a much wider audience soon.
  12. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

Oh, well excellent then. I'll go bother people there!
  13. PC Peripherals Question/s & (hopefully) Answers

Don't play Dota or anything like that, occasionally jump into some MMO's, but mostly I find it useful for FPS games, or things with a lot of keyboard shortcuts that can be remapped like Civ 5, Arkham City (a mouse key for each gadget makes it SO much more fun/quick to use gadgets during combat). The thumb buttons do take some getting used to, but after a week or so I was totally up to speed and hitting what I wanted. The new layout looks like it make make it even easier, so I'd imagine that would be ok. Certainly not instant, but shouldn't take long to get used to it. I really liked my old naga, but with it dying I read up and it seemed to be pretty common to die after around a year (sometimes less), so I was sold on trying something new. Now I dunno. lol.
  14. PC Peripherals Question/s & (hopefully) Answers

I'm seriously considering the new version of the Razar Naga, I was using the old Naga for a couple years before about 2 weeks ago, and I was going to try something new, like a G600 or something, but then they go and made it even better... so conflicted.
  15. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It's got some pretty fun mechanics that I can foresee sparking some fun quips and convo from the Thumbs folk too.
  16. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

So I was too skeptical about it actually turning into anything during the kickstarter and didn't end up backing it, but a few months later a friend of mine started working for them, and convinced me that it was actually turning out pretty interesting, so I ended up pre-ordering on Amazon. Ends up that might have been the quickest way to go since it didn't suffer from the backer delays, and got the final hardware for the controller, avoiding a lot of the issues some people were (and are) hitting with the dev-kit version. I'm pretty much in love with the damn thing at this point. It's right in my wheelhouse of indie/experimental stuff, and I love the whole dev process (actually learning some GameMaker and Unity stuff in prep for deciding on a tool to use for a game I'm pondering trying to make), so watching devs deal with this whole new platform, and seeing what some of them are coming up with (OMG U GUISE ), is pretty damn fun so far. Along with the stuff made for Ouya, there's emulators for just about everything, runs XBMC or Plex like a dream, and even side-loading Onlive works fairly well (I played Splintercell:Conviction the other day and it was great, though it still suffered from typical Onlive "not quite awesome, but close"ness. The only minor gripe with it in my mind so far is the controller. It isn't perfect by any means, but it's fine. For $50 a pop I'd have expected it to feel more solid and be a bit more comfortable to hold long-term. I'll probably wait for them to update it before getting more, especially since xbox 360 and ps3 controllers work perfectly fine with it and are more comfy for the moment. Not a deal breaker for me, but certainly understandable that people have been annoyed by them. Especially since some of been having issues with buttons sticking and such. Hasn't hit me personally, at least not yet, but understandably annoying. All in all I'm totally on board the Ouya train, for better or worse. Seems to be going in the right direction with every update so far, and big things are still coming, like platform-wide leaderboards and other online focused features, so I'm hoping it's a fun ride. At this point though, it could crash and burn tomorrow and I'd still be pretty happy with what it can do already. Best $99 of gaming money I've spent in years. Hell pre-ordering SimCity was almost that much and look what happened there. lol. Totally worth it in my books. I just hope I'm not so alone in that sentiment that it fizzles before people give it a chance to win them over.
  17. Shadowrun Kickstarter

I enjoyed the game quite a bit. A few minor issues (most of which I imagine is due to playing on launch day and not waiting for the inevitable first patch), and the story was a bit linear, but with so much room for new content from users (and the creators), I'm happy to have played it, and can't wait for more.
  18. Plug your shit

I host a weekly video game related netcast/podcast/hangout/thing (wtf do you call a thing NOT on itunes these days? hah) via G+ hangouts on Air, called Game Sammich. We just passed the 6 month mark, and while it hasn't taken off like a rocket or anything, we seem to be getting a bit of traction in the last little while in the chatroom during our live recording sessions and G+ community, and it's just too much fun to do to worry about things like "audience" and "profit". It's mostly just for shits 'n giggles. If it starts growing to the point where it's actually worth something other than laughs, awesome... if not, well, it's still a pile of laughs, so whatever. My job though, is doing customer support for shopify, so if you're looking to start an online store of some kind, we should chat
  19. New people: Read this, say hi.

Didn't back it, so I got it right on time from Amazon. The controller has given me only very minor issues of having to re-pair it a couple of times, everything else has been great.
  20. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I really need to get back at Borderlands 2, and apparently I "need" to finish Blood Dragon just to see the ending and have the final weapon, but I dunno if I want to bother...
  21. New people: Read this, say hi.

I'm pretty big into indie stuff, and "seeing behind the curtain" so to speak, of game design, and the Ouya is really well setup to feed into that, with a lot of the devs being very open about their process, and the low barrier to entry (relatively speaking at least) is opening up the doors for a lot of weird experimental things sometimes turn into awesomeness, such as "Get on Top". There's also a lot of room for just really damn fun games to find a market there as a proof of concept and then move onto other platforms if it makes sense, like TowerFall is doing now, being so massively popular (for good reason, it's AMAZING) that it's now being brought over to steam on the PC. There is a lot of junk too, again, lower barrier of entry doesn't filter for "good", just makes it easier to get on the platform, but they're starting to get the hang of things in the "game discovery" end of things, and hopefully that will start to solve itself once the rating system really gets used as a filter in the store. If you're looking for AAA massiveness, the Ouya won't do it (at least not until it gets official Onlive support, and even then, iffy), but if you like smaller more focused games and/or experimental stuff at all, it's pretty damn great. And really, at worst, if the platform doesn't really take off, it makes a pretty kickass XBMC, Netflix, and retro emulator box that takes up almost no space. So there's that. Definitely not for everyone, and it's got a ways to go before it's objectively awesome, but it's practically leaking potential out of every port. I have high hopes, but at the very least. even if it crashes, it's been worth it for me personally to go along for the ride.
  22. Idle Thumbs 117: Sir! Sir!

Can't wait to play Sir You Are Being Hunted. Looks like a damn lot of fun.
  23. Life

Life, for me, is pretty much coming together like a plan on the A-Team. It was sketchy there for a while, but somehow it all worked out amazingly, and now I'm totally riding high. Life is, in a word, grand. Awesome job, awesome wife (even a bit of a gamer, though not as much as me, her major thing is cooking, to the point that she started a blog about it, and that gets no complaints from me!), basically just awesome all around.
  24. eReaders - What is everyone's thoughts?

I have a Kindle (the one just previous to the "PaperWhite"), and LOOOOOOVE it. I've gone almost completely digital at this point for books. Between Audible on my phone and the Kindle, I tend to be carrying 30+ books with me at all times. The screen is great, the battery MUST work on some sort of magic to last as long as it does, and just generally find it awesome. Debating whether or not to upgrade to the paperwhite to get the built in screen light, which could come in handy.
  25. Spelunky!

Looks right up my alley. Why have I not been playing this? Clearly I must be a bad person. Gonna fix that right away!
