Just upgraded and refitted my small Zorgon Hauler to perform Rare Trade item runs. Elite:Dangerous - Euro Truck Simulator 3300! After I get enough to buy and outfit a Cobra MkIII I'm eager to explore combat missions.

Using Thrudd's Elite Dangerous trading tools you should be able to sort for rare commodities and find areas where they're concentrated. http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/ Simply Select "Rares" from the page and tell it what system you're in. Lists that system and all systems within a couple hundred light years of it that has known rare trading goods. Fill your hold with rares and select a target system ~150-160 light years away to maximize rare trading good value (rare goods increase in value the farther they are sold from the home system. They're essentially "Luxury Goods".) I usually choose another system with rare goods 160LY away and fly there. Perform Cartography scans as you jump, fuel scoop off of suns when you can, and watch your back for interdiction. Good luck! ProTip: When fuel scooping around red giant suns, watch out for those tiny white dwarf sun binary partners and don't run into them. New storyline in Sunless Sea done by the maker of 80 Days (iOS) - From the Sunless Sea Kickstarter Update: Here, an invisible tiger stalks and deadly roses grow. Unravel a tale of memory, cruelty and desire, with the King's Claw, the Lady of the Cages, and a mystery from Fallen London's past... A substantial story update to Sunless Sea in the form of a guest island written by Meg Jayanth. Meg Jayanth is a freelance writer and game-maker in London. Her recent work includes 80 Days - a decolonised, steampunk adaptation of Verne's adventure classic, for iOS - and Samsara, a rich historical fantasy of dream-walking and intrigue set in Eighteenth Century Bengal, which lives on our own StoryNexus.

Idle Thumbs 179: Shadow of Something
DocRandal replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Soundtrack (and protagonist) for your Shadow of ... the behatted Robots game. I regret that I don't have time to stick MSPaint Hats on them. -
The Wizard (and friends).

One more thing: To get updated content in Sunless Sea, Failbetter Games has you create an account with them. They put some content in Fallen London that gives you "meta-qualities" in Sunless Sea. For example, playing with the Parabolan Kitten (anyone want one? I have a box full) rarely gives you the ability to access it in Sunless Sea (likely as a mascot). There are a couple other events like this, and it generates options and/or extra story notes in the game.

The Sunless Sea Map is procedurally generated and will change with each game. My Mt. Palmerston ended up being in the north of the mid-map areas. If (who am I kidding, *when*) you die you are given the option of giving your heir your map which keeps everything where it was. I was a backer of the Sunless Sea Kickstarter (anyone want a Parabolan Kitten in Fallen London, just ask) and am pleased with the way it's been coming along. It is still unfinished in places. I've pretty much decided to wait until the game is finished before playing, but there's plenty of content out there now.

A DARPA-funded robotic cheetah has been released into the wild, so to speak. A new algorithm developed by MIT researchers now allows their quadruped to run and jump — while untethered — across a field of grass. http://io9.com/mits-robotic-cheetah-can-now-run-and-jump-while-untethe-1634799433

"Squishy Robots" Boston Dynamic robots, slurping through pipes in order to "interact" with humans.

Youtuber hinamitetu has engineered a squadron of robot gymnasts capable of executing flips, handsprings, and high-bar acrobatics. Now robots can look cool when they hurtle though the air like lethal projectiles.

Were the 5% of troops that mysteriously disappeared after drone pickups evac'd by Petman in Valkyrie gear carrying spears? With freshly synthesized blonde tresses? Just asking.

"Google’s first public venture into deep learning combined the efforts of some of its foremost scientists: Angrew Ng, Jeff Dean and Ray Kurzweil. Together with their research partners, the trio developed a computer network that simulated a brain’s neuronal network and set it upon images on the Internet. The inevitable result was that the system taught itself how to recognize pictures of cats." Like a child recognizing it's mother.

Hi! Been listening to the Idle Thumbs gaming podcast since last November but the Rise and Fall and Rise of Ragnar the Gardener finally spurred me to register for the forums. I'm afraid I'm not a professional game creator unless my past history of writing Shadowrun campaigns for gaming convenions (Gen Con) in the 90s counts. Mainly writing papers and grant proposals these days that keep me too busy which is why I love hearing everyone talk about video games in the podcast. I'm more than happy to talk about my limited gaming time when I can fit it in.
