Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))

Also, the game lighting seems a bit darker from what I've seen, meaning the additional light is helpful by itself.- 1284 replies

Looks like a new video card for me too, I'll probably pick up a new SSD as well.

Yeah I had Gamefly for about 6 months when I first got my X360. It took about that long to collect enough garbage from sales and such that I had a decent enough backlog to not need it anymore. Now, it's even easier to buy a bunch of games you don't need So far this year I have bought: Besiege Cities: Skylines Factorio Fractured Space Grow Home Guild Wars 2 Shadow of Mordor Season Pass Saint's Row 3 GOTY edition Samurai Gun Shadowrun Chronicles (actually kickstarted 2 years ago, but it just came out) Broken Age (the same) Star Trek Online (I throw FTP stuff on my list when I spend more than $20) Talos Principle Valkyria Chronicles FIFA 2015 Monster Hunter 4 Echochrome Tokyo Jungle King of Dragon Pass (iPad) Dragon Quest 8 (iPad)

After all the crazy 599 US DOLLARS crap that went around for the PS3 launch, is it weird that now I'd like to pay that much money for a console that doesn't hitch all the time and just plays games well?

Just tuned up my Linked-in profile to apply for a job at my wife's work. I doubt they're going to be paying the amount I want, but I figured it was worth taking a shot at it since the commute would be a dream. I hate resume work.
-
Many apartments will not let you even apply if your gross pay isn't at least three times the rent. For a while I scraped by at 2.5 times for one particularly lousy studio apartment (good location though.) These days I try to keep it around a quarter of my gross pay going to rent.

I would like a button that highlights hotspots on the screen, as my interpretation of visual language on the screen tends to be pretty lousy. I'm not a visual person really. I'd also like a three step hint system. First one is an extremely vague pointer, second is a fairly obvious nudge, third flat out tells you the answer. I have played adventure games with these systems in the past, and have found them a lot more pleasant. But what I really learned from playing this and The Wolf Among Us back to back, is that I don't think I'm a puzzle person, except in the very broad "whodunnit" sense. I still don't know how I managed to drag myself through 3 seasons of Sam and Max.

Oh hey, I forgot this even came out. I guess I could get it for my commute...

Adventure game logic question regarding the end of the game:
-
To be fair, there isn't anything immediately visible on that particular cloud behind the bird that makes it look standable. It looks like every other cloud in the screen two to the right with the tons of bird nests that you can't walk up to.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but this released last month. The career mode is much better balanced than the last time I played, and I've had a lot of fun so far. Just sent an unmanned probe across the Mun's bow. Now I just need to collect enough science to get some better boosters so I can actually make Mun orbit.

Just finished

Hmm, so I just got to the part in Act 2 where I've completed both Shay and Vella's individual stories are complete (at least where you have to get them both up to a certain point to progress and there's a meeting of sorts.) I managed to make it maybe half this far before finally checking a guide, which then quickly leads to checking a bunch more once the allure of doing it compltely guideless has gone. My generic complaints were: Things change state without giving you any hint that things have changed. The screens are big enough with enough hotspots that I'm not interested in retrying every single one every time I complete a small action hoping that one will act differently this time. As mentioned by others before, needing something from one person's area to help the other is all fine and dandy, but I wish that the things you needed were less obscure, and I wish there was a real story reason for that stuff to have transferred between characters. Specific sticking points: Anyway, I think I'm just going to spoiler-free walkthrough this to the end now. If there's anything Sam and Max taught me, it's that I don't have the adventure game mind. I always got stuck on them as a kid so I guess I never learned the weird logic and tricks. I enjoyed how the first one was fairly easy. I guess I should have spoken up more in the DF forums.

Directional thrusters are mapped to the hat switch on the throttle. Still learning and getting used to it, but so far no. I had to remap the heatsink button, but there's a few spare unmapped buttons. Also, I'm having a problem getting one of my buttons to register, I'm not sure if it's a problem with the stick, or software, or what. That made me switch headlook toggle and boost around since I don't use headlook anyway and there's a dedicated mode button for looking specifically at a side display.

Elite is pretty fun with an X52 pro

Hmm, I guess it doesn't have to make legal sense, because it's youtube law, not US law.
-
Yeah, I know, it's kinda the option we've got I guess. I'm thinking I'm going to start voting crazy fringe candidates in the next election. At least the way that primaries work in Washington, you aren't "throwing your vote away."
-
*sigh* My state (Washington) has been pretty much constantly dominated by the democratic party, but there are still so many ways that it feels like we're conservative.
-
Well, my Sidewinder is still sitting out there, but I guess I had a mental home base that I kept my mining operations around, not literally the first base I spawned at. *shrug* All I know is that there isn't a Carroll Dock in Siluror anymore.
-
Hmm, I think my "home" dock no longer exists. I have notes about Siluror - Carroll Dcok, but that dock doesn't exist as far as I can tell. If a station changes ownership, does it change name as well?

Twin Peaks Rewatch 28: The Path to the Black Lodge
Dewar replied to Chris's topic in Twin Peaks Rewatch Episodes
Yay, I've finally caught up. I stopped watching for some reason right before Maddy was murdered, and have spent the last week furiously watching Twin Peaks and listening to podcasts so I can be caught up in time for FWWM, which I purchased the first time I watched the show but never had the stomach to actually put it into my DVD player. In doing some digging about the Josie in the knob thing (this ties into this episode, I promise) I came across this link: http://twinpeaksarchive.blogspot.com/2011/07/between-two-worlds-josies-fate.html I had subtitles on, and this episode is the one where Pete is standing, looking above the fireplace, and seeing that he sees Josie's face. Such a bizarre throw away line to have at the start of the scene where Audrey wants Pete's truck. If I hadn't read that blog, I'd have no idea what was going on. -
I got a nice new X52 Pro joystick yesterday, sat down to install the the drivers, and the install froze half way through. This isn't particularly unusual because my Raid5 array occasionally does wierd things that can stop hard drive access for a few seconds, and not all programs can handle that gracefully. Unfortunately, I wasn't even able to force-quit the installer, and when I tried to shut the machine down, it froze at "shutting down" and I eventually had to kill it. Then it froze at "starting windows" and I thought maybe my machine had just self destructed. I eventually coaxed it into booting, and it had to run a full windows HDD check, as well as a full RAID verification before it would work normally again. So I didn't even get to play with my new toy last night, but at least everything seems to be operable this morning. I really need to get a new solution setup for this machine rather than this RAID array.

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
Dewar replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
To be fair, a lot of the characters were pretty boring at that stage. Worf in particular had no depth what-so-ever and look where he ended up, one of the longest running and deeper characters in Star Trek. -
I was working from home yesterday with fairly lousy signal, so I didn't get the text message from Twitter until 45 minutes into sales. I still got Monday passes, but I'm not sure if I'll even use them. This will be the first PAX Prime that I haven't attended all 3-4 days since the very start.
