  1. The Wolf Among Us

I hadn't read the comics either when I played this. I've since gone through the first two trades and am really enjoying it so far. Hmm, I went the Lawrences's place last on my play through, and I don't remember what you're talking about there. Reading a wiki Also, that's a good pointer to the fact there are things you can change about the story, as He was a well known murderer of wives in his fairy tale days, though no one has proved if he's done anything since the amnesty.
  2. I'm a bit rusty on this, but I think you can use a Bonfire Ascetic to reset the area you need to summon the NPC in. I'm pretty sure I did that a couple of times to finish off some story lines.
  3. The Wolf Among Us

Oh wow, yeah I had a very long discussion with Georgie and Vivian.
  4. Idle Food - Cooking!

Chicken Parmigiana sand witch with chicken, mozzarella, and spaghetti sauce?
  5. The Wolf Among Us

I think it's one of those details that can be very clear or very not clear depending on how... aggressive, you are in that scene and maybe even scenes in past episodes.
  6. The Wolf Among Us

I don't have much to say to most of that because I liked it a ton. Of course, I haven't played any of the other modern Telltale games so it was pretty fresh for me.
  7. Destiny

Hmm, all this talk of a regular leveling curve sounds pretty good. I'm thinking about maybe picking this up for the first time when Taken King comes out (XB1 unfortunately, so I won't be able to raid with people around here.) I wonder if there's going to be any solid improvements to the storyline when they re-record. I've heard them say the script isn't changing, but then I've heard in other places there will be additional cutscenes?
  8. My dagger broke just trying to get through the initial are of the forest of giants before you get the blacksmith's key. That leaves me with either using the broken sword, or a weapon I don't have the stats for. Plus, the broken sword sucks in hallways since you hit the wall all the time. No matter, I'll make my way through somehow. I'm the one who made the choice to start as a deprived.
  9. Idle Food - Cooking!

I used to love fresh tomato slices on my burgers when I was young, now I can't stand them. It feels like the flavor and texture changed significantly in the mid 90s, but I suppose it might have just been my taste buds maturing.
  10. I bought Chrono Cross on my PS3 last year with the intention to replay it, but still haven't gotten around to it.
  11. As someone who watches the international every year and has 60 wins under my belt (so not a newcomer, but not super knowledgeable either,) the thing that I still stumble over are the names of the items and the skills. That's what the newcomer stream was really great for, and I was willing to put up with some stuff that was way too basic for me to get more basic descriptions of what items and abilities are doing in the moment. This is also where I stress my general annoyance at how little advertising the newcomer stream got this year. It was front page on dota2.com/watch for one day, and then it just disappeared. I didn't find out until Friday it was still running on twitch, but none of the other available ways of watching.
  12. I liked it a lot. I finally started playing through again and I'm having a tough time at the moment simply because I can't repair any of my weapons yet.
  13. There's a ton of stuff going on in football too. My friend I used to watch games with could go on and on about the different formations, the different roles a the same player in the same position have at different times, even down to the names of the particular moves a defender might use to get past a blocker. Football doesn't seem as complicated because the sports casters have gone to great effort to make it understandable, not because it's less complicated than Dota2. On the subject of the ending to TI5, I got everything I wanted. If those guys had come out of the booth screaming and yelling and being sports-star like, I don't think I'd have enjoyed that as much. They were exhausted and stunned, and I loved it.
  14. General Video Game Deals Thread

As long as you aren't trying for all the stars, I enjoyed them quite a bit and they did a pretty good job of both slowly building in new mechanics and finding new ways to use old ones.
  15. I Had A Random Thought...

My wife has a linguistics degree and she gets a lot of value out of IPA as she works to better understand Japanese.
  16. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Not that I mind one way or the other, but there is a thread at least tangentially related to Cultural Appropriation. https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/10246-we-need-to-talk-about-race
  17. Wait so what fixed what now?
  18. Can you roll back the Win10 upgrade? You should be back on Win7 if you do that right?
  19. Job Hunting

For a state-run university, I would expect that a promotion would come with a whole new salary negotiation not directly related to the old negotiation.
  20. XCOM Enemy Unknown

The amount of Meld you get from containers is a rough guide of how well the aliens are doing resources-wise. If you see that number sharply increasing, you might be in trouble. It certainly recoverable, but it's a good warning sign. As for Dynamic war, last I played event missions and EXALT missions still occurred at the regular pace, even though soldier fatigue timers were doubled, creating a case where I had three missions in one month and ran out of available soldiers. If that's been fixed, it might be worth it, I dunno.
  21. Life

This is clever and I'm mad I didn't think of it first.
  22. Recently completed video games

I was really looking forward to that when it was near release, and then I thought about the amount of time it can take to beat a campaign in an RTS and shied away.
  23. Contradiction - The best of hammy actors

Once again comparing Her Story and Contradiction, and specifically the endings (spoilers for both)
  24. He strikes me as a guy who's been about the same size since he was 18, so I'd imagine he just gets clothes as gifts because his parents know that he wouldn't buy them otherwise.
  25. I suppose it depends on how much of your valuable time the "free" copy of Windows 10 is worth to you. It was mentioned earlier in this thread that you had to complete an upgrade install to get a license key. I did some research and the only way I'm aware of to get a license without doing the upgrade install first is to buy it for $120. I myself am considering whether the hassle is worth $120.
