My enjoyment of games has changed a lot, but mostly in who I'm playing them with. I now value a game that's going to let me play with my small group of friends and build things together much more than I play long single player experiences or online versus other player type games.

I guess I play Crusader Kings too much, because that sounds awesome to me. Edit: In a video game I mean.

His machine has an A drive? Is he playing games on some sort of dinosaur?

I want traits to not be random and there to be some genetics involved. In otherwords, I want to look at the character selection screen, see a guy with really good stats and exactly the skills I want, but also with color blindness, and be aware that choosing that character might mean I won't be seeing color for several generations.

That response was, in part, a joke, but we are seeing an awful lot of paid alphas and betas these days, some of which are better than others. Whether it's a positive or negative trend, Minecraft first showed that people would pay for early access.
-
Hmm, I still haven't looked at it since it lost almost a world's worth of progress.

Minecraft was the harbinger of PC doom. Now every game is a paid beta.

Machinarium was free on PS+ at some point, not sure if it's still on that list or not.

The initial turn-on surge of a vacuum pulls a lot of power. It sounds like it's causing a voltage drop that's big enough to cause the modem problems, but not long enough to completely reset it. I'd bet that either you have wiring problems, or that circuit is already close to over-loaded. Maybe move the cable modem to a different breaker (using an extension cord or something) and see if it still happens?

I buy the cheapest keyboard I can find, that way I can buy them in bulk and just replace it when it gets dirty.

I can't believe that I can't register my own account on my wife's 3DS so I can buy Zelda. *sigh*

Sounds like it could be as cool as the Spore space stages should have been, but it could quite possibly fall short and end up being as cool as the Spore space stages were in reality.

The DLC really teaches you how to dodge. Pretty much everything in there would break my block in one shot and usually finish me off shortly after. It was really fun for me as I started the game playing with lots of dodging, but somewhere in the middle I started to rely on my shield and gave up both parrying and dodging.

Valve originally said no NDAs.

I really loved using the Rapier group of weapons with my Dex sorcerer. Nice long range attacks and you don't have to worry about hitting the walls with your swing.

I'm thinking about starting a new game as a Strength/Faith bruiser using a two handed hammer or club of some sort.

I'd be afraid of whatever they'd serve you.

I would be suspicious as well. Maybe ask for more details about what they want to do?

Still playing Vanilla, or are you playing on a modded server? A friend of mine puts up a modded server every few months and I lose weeks to it every time.

Man, I'm started as a Suomenusko count in the small two county petty kingdom that's up there between Finland and Karelia. I made it all the way up to the point where I had all of Bjarmia and Karelia, as well as a smattering of other counties. The succession disaster hit. I had four sons, the first two of which were complete idiots and the second two had some of the best stats I've ever seen in my own children. Unfortuantely, I died early and my two dutchies were split, leaving my crappy heir (whom I'm now stuck wtih) with Karelia and one of my really great brothers with Bjarma. I immediately had two internal wars, resolved the first and lost the second, busting me down to two counties. I saved up for a while, had 75% of my liege's troops in my faction, then tried to take back over. I called in my two brothers, but both of them turned me down and joined the war on the other side. I was destroyed, even with the mercs I hired, and put in jail. Then my next door brother came knocking and reunited Bjarmia and Karelia, leaving me in jail with the two crappiest counties in the kingdom. I don't know if it's going to be possible to recover from this. Stupid gavelkind and stupid not being able to pick which of your heirs to play as.

To a certain extent, I'd say just play and have fun and don't worry about it too much. I think Dark Souls is at its best when you're exploring with no clue what's around the next corner, which of these pieces of equipment is the "best," and what secrets you're missing. If you're going Melee, the only real choice you need to make and stick to is whether you're going to be using str weapons or dex weapons, which you can seperate by looking at the letter grade a weapon shows under each stat picture on the advanced info screen.

It's rarely that simple. Higher gas prices effect the prices on pretty much everything, since almost everything needs to shipped in some form. Those subsidies to try and lower gas prices are basically trying to stimulate the economy, which might not be the way I'd go about doing it, but I wouldn't call it stupid. Furthermore, how much money would you propose we throw at fusion power before we've wasted enough? From a business standpoint, you're looking at playing a lot of money for a project that people aren't even sure will ever produce any useable results. Other scientific study that has actually produced usable tech has been defunded, why should fusion research keep its funding over those other projects? I'm not saying that I agree with how the government is being run either.

I thought most of Manus's attacks were a lot easier to dodge than the optional boss's, but I imagine that's going to be different for each person.

Yay! I was really feeling the Christmas spirit this year starting in about mid-November, but sickness and work have managed to pound it out of me. I just want this season to be over with.

Hmm, so I guess the either the lava or the jumping fireballs must hurt the ghost just a little?
