  1. DOTA 2

Just played my first multiplayer game and we didn't lose! Sure I had a negative K/D ratio, but it wasn't nearly as horrible as I thought it would be
  2. BioShock Infinite

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/08/09/recreating-rapture-in-bioshock-infinite First half of Burial at sea will not feature combat says man named Ken.
  3. Just started playing. Even with all the podcasts and youtube videos I've heard and seen I'm completely lost
  4. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

The director of Brothers is the brain behind this wonderful piece of Swedish cinema history:
  5. Left 4 Thumbs - The Homethumbing 2

Is anyone still playing this and if so what game modes? I just picked up L4D2 in the summer sale but haven't had any chance to actually play it yet.
  6. Other podcasts

Was just coming here to post the same thing! Immediately start listening to the wonderful, dark and municipally approved voice of Cecil of Night Vale Community Radio. Listen to him relay the towns latest news, events and stories about and from the lovely citizens of Night Vale (some more lovely, and perfect, than others). Listen and maybe, ,just maybe, the hooded figures will stay their hand.
  7. Books, books, books...

Yes, I would say that it is quite representative in that regard. Most of Murakami's books have characters who are deeply invested in classical music and literature in some way or another. The biggest difference with Kafka on the shore is that it is the most explicitly supernatural of his books(Followed by the Wind-up bird chronicle), the rest mostly have odd occurrences and characters. As for the ending... Yeah. As far as I've understood it is a common thing with Japanese novelists (at least according to my sister and the books she's read). They seem not to subscribe to the Western three act structure. I find it challenging and interesting to read something like that, but I can clearly see how it wouldn't work for a lot of people.
  8. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Does Shadowrun have cloud-saving? If not I guess I'm quitting it Going back from my vacation and I'm not going to play all that again.
  9. Non-video games

So. I bought the Game of Thrones boardgame.
  10. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

    This is amazing! This too!!
  11. Books, books, books...

It's good isn't it? Just finished Sputnik Darling by Murakami and as with all the books I've read by him I've really enjoyed his writing. However, as with the other books, it left me slightly confused as to what exactly was going on or what the message of it all was. I'm thinking I might have to give all his books another go to just to see if I pick up something the second time around.
  12. Non-video games

Yeah, it would be nice to have a shorter, lighter game to play with my workmates. All other board games we play soak up at least two hours of time which, while fun, sometimes feels a bit much. It having such a dominant strategy in it sounds kind of bad though :/ Yeah, that's sort of the best part of Drakbork-bork-borken as well. You are basically entering a dragon's castle, trying to get to the treasure chamber and grab as much loot as you can before the sun sets upon which everyone still in the castle dies. Combine that with the fact that the layout of the castle is randomly generated, full of traps and hilariously hard monsters and you've got a game where just surviving is a feat.
  13. Non-video games

Based on the article on Polygon it would appear not to be a quick cash-in at least. Work has been ongoing on it for some time. Company behind it seem to be fairly well-liked as well. Doesn't necessarily mean that it actually is fun though! I was looking at Android Infiltration the other day. I like how it seems to be slightly reminiscent of Drakborgen (Dungeonquest for those of you who have not had the pleasure of playing the original Swedish version). On the other hand, it doesn't have the highest of scores on BGG. Has anyone here had the chance to try it out?
  14. Wasn't LSD: Dream sim basically just the creators dreams in game form?
  15. Shadowrun Kickstarter

It really is good. Love the setting and I am quite happy with the story so far. It does make me long for an Arcanum sequel though.
  16. Looks cool, not sure if I want to spend more money on Kickstarters though
  17. Haha, I loved the moment when Nick freaked out over Ragnars daughter being named Ragnarsdottir
  18. Thumbs impacting my job

    I AM SPARTACLAIRE!
  19. Games giveaway

I've got a copy of Frozen Synapse to give away. Let me know if you're interested.
  20. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

Sounds like an old* Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six game. I approve. *Old as in the more "realistic" almost sim-like direction the old games had Btw I believe this is the comic you were looking for? http://www.screencuisine.net/hlcomic/index.php?date=2005-08-17
  21. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

Cool. Hope I'll be able to play some games with you fancy peoples.
  22. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

Bought Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and Left for Dead 2 so far. Hey, do we have some sort of Idle thumbs gaming group thing going on? Regarding Anno 2070. Looked forward to it a great deal and ended up buying it during the winter sale. Played it for maybe a couple of hours. It just didn't connect with me for whatever reason.
  23. R.I.P. Ryan Davis

Was just looking through Olly Moss's Tumblr page when I came upon some photos from a exhibition he had done. Ryans face stood out from the crowd instantly and I was instantly a bit sad.
  24. Life

Seems like most don't take their Kickstarter failing as a sign that people may not want their game or not. The only thing changes is whether the devs will eat noodles for six months or not.
  25. Life

Dr. McNinja is great. Or was great at least, haven't read it in years. But anything that features Irish ninjas riding velociraptors is good in my book!
