I've been getting into houseplants lately because they're generally inexpensive, endlessly beneficial, and relatively easy to care for. I mentioned repotting my mass cane a few posts up, but I also recently got a dwarf umbrella plant and a money tree. Just today I decided to give into an impulse and buy one of these. I've always wanted a fly trap, but have never seen them for sale anywhere. This one is teeny tiny and cost like eight bucks. It'll be good for dealing with the fruit flies I sometimes get in the summer. Otherwise I can feed it bloodworms and distilled water.

I agree about the environment and puzzles. That Hotel area and especially the forest area both integrate the environment into both atmosphere and the design of the puzzles so well, and then most of the rest of the game is super generic rooms with switches that change gravity and stuff. Disappointing.
  4. A Super Fun Quiz for everyone!

I might be wrong about the track for 12, but I think I got the game right at least.
  5. Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

More info from Serebii: I bolded the part that I'm most interested in. Fuck yes, flight and abundant legendaries! Also, Adaptability is a nice get for Mega Beedrill. Not sure about No Guard on Mega Pidgeot though, since the only move that really takes advantage of it is Hurricane. Everything else Pidgeot learns is 90% accuracy or higher.
  6. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I don't think I'm willing to give anyone still using the hashtag the benefit of the doubt anymore. If they were genuinely concerned about "journalistic ethics," you'd think turn their attention to significantly more alarming conflicts of interest that go on in the world of game criticism, but none of them EVER bring that shit up because it doesn't involve a woman's sex life.
  7. A Super Fun Quiz for everyone!

Oh, is it Gimmick? Because that game is gorgeous.
  8. Nintendo 3DS

Wait wait wait, what? There's an Action-RPG where I can be a lumberjack?! fukken sold
  9. Social Justice

I actually think the best thing about this guy is his amazon page.
  10. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Oh man, now that The Escapist is supporting GG so hard and GG is supporting weev, does that make him some sort of Yahtzee Nazi?
  11. Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

Well, Sableye is based on the Hopkinsville Goblin, after all. The PokéNav is returning and getting some significant functionality changes. I just love that it's based on the GBA SP to match the classic GBA Pokédex.

Not gonna lie: this is going to have straight-up porn on it. I need to do a proper portfolio at some point for other jobs, but right now I've found a porn comic site hiring full-time creators and I want to have a portfolio of work available to show them. That's why I was looking to host it on its own and not on tumblr or something, but I can probably just do a tumblr if I use an appropriate theme, flag everything as NSFW, and get a nice domain name to redirect to it. I can do that, right? (disappointingly, the .xxx domain name that I wanted is already taken. My chosen pseudonym turns out to also be a large company that makes baby products. Whoops!) Gotta say, I'm kind of surprised at how nobody recommends Squarespace, considering how heavily it's been advertised on Thumbs and the Bombcast. I feel that I know or can relearn enough HTML, CSS, and Javascript to make something functional. I wish tumblr let you do more with HTML; I already have to pull out all the stops to get images to work correctly on Let's Talk About Comics (good thing I never update it).
  13. The only franchise I can think of where amiibos make perfect sense is Pokémon. Like, you can save your team to your Pokémon Trainer amiibo and put your data in your friend's Battle Maison, or instantly transfer them over to whatever Stadium/Colosseum/Battle Revolution equivalent comes out on the Wii U. Maybe an individual Pokémon's amiibo gives you an in-game version with an exclusive move. There's so much they could be doing with them in that one series, but they almost certainly won't. Know what this kind of reminds me of? Does anyone else remember before the Wii came out how Nintendo briefly touted that the Wiimote had 8MB of onboard storage? It was meant for transferring Miis and save data over to friends' systems. Only the Mii transfer feature was ever implemented, and nobody really used it. Now it's just a weird legacy thing that inexplicably still exists.
  14. Nintendo 3DS

I save my tickets because all I want are the console and food hats. I usually wear the Tanooki Suit, though at the moment I'm dressed in orange with the Jack O'Lantern hat.
  15. Social Justice

Only nineties kids will remember white supremacy! (the “Nite of Nickelodeon Nostalgic Nonsense!” mentioned in the article has since been cancelled specifically because of this guy)
  16. Nintendo 3DS

The New 3DS is out in Japan now, so there's some unboxing videos and the like showing up online. It looks good and everything runs way faster, expecially downloads. Keen!

I just repotted a palm that I've had for a few years. Back when I got it, it was actually one large palm and one short one; but during the brief period where I lived in a tiny basement apartment with no light, the big one lost most of its leaves and the little one lost all of them. I kept the little one just in case it ever grew any of its leaves back, but it never did. Just now while repotting, I pulled it out and... there were no roots. It was just a log. What the hell? (the big one has mostly spring back thanks to careful tending. It's regrown loads and loads of leaves, though they're all a little wilted)

Holy shiiiiit Broodhollow's book 2 finale is incredible.
  19. Seriously among my favourite jokes in Speed Racer.
  20. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Identifying as a GG supporter because you have issues with ethics in the games industry is at this point kind of like identifying as a Nazi in the fifties because you disagree with unearned income and debt-slavery. (I know, I know, Godwin's Law)
  21. The aesthetics of this game look like a really modern version of a third-party Gamecube game. Like that long lost middle tier between indie games and AAA games.
  22. Nintendo 3DS

Protip if you get Warrior's Way: the whole game scales to the size of your army, so while it seems like a good idea to amass a huge army and overwhelm your opponent through sheer numbers, it will just make the game more tedious in the long run. My final boss has an army of 250,000 units and a Streetpass from someone who doesn't have the game will only get you like 10 units.
