GG has convinced themselves that Aerannis, a game about a trans woman living under a government that stomps out those who speak out about inequality, is something that fits into their anti-feminist rhetoric and started promoting it among themselves without a trace of irony.

The director's cut of Aliens is terrible. The "assembly cut of Alien 3 saves the movie, though!

Idle Thumbs 184: Super Pools 'n' Ghosts

I fucking love that Ken Penders (on the comic cover in syntheticgerbil's post) is the ur-Deviantart Sonic fan. He is that fucking person, given creative control of a surprisingly long-lived branch of the franchise. He's tried (unsuccessfully) to wrestle the rights to his original characters, which include memorable roles like "Knuckles in a hat" and "Knuckles in a different hat," back from Archie Comics so that he could write his own sci-fi epic about members of an alien race called the Echyd’nya. -
It's bonkers. I've been using it for everything: Mario 3D World, Wind Waker, Mario Kart, virtual console, everything.

Some heartless jackass makes a fake Majora's Mask HD trailer because he hates me, specifically

Now that Majora's Mask 3D is a real thing, I feel that the thread title should be changed. I nominate "We Choose to go to the Moon: Majora's Mask 3D". -
I think the harshest, but most valuable lesson I've learned is not to take for granted that maturation comes with age.

The Pro Controller's battery is incredible. It lasted me from last November all the way to this September before I even charged it once.

Wake Me Up Before You IndieGoGo: A Crowdfunding Thread

This is a really neat-looking little game. Kind of a sidescrolling MGS-ish deal with a fascinating-sounding story. -
My favourite thing about these assholes is that their militaristic language and thinking that beating Dark Souls is an actual accomplishment worth bragging about. I feel like every one of them have fully bought into the bullshit marketing telling them how badass they are that's been going on for years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyTlxHwuPZY

I've been playing a bunch of this (y'all suckers didn't download the patch days ago like I did). I love the details like the coins being changed to Rupees in Hyrule, or the recharge strips in Mute City filling your coins. I also really like the way Link and his motorcycle handle.

I rewatched all of Sym-Bionic Titan earlier this week, and now I'm bummed that there's no more to watch. Anyone here ever see it? It was a one-season wonder from Genndy Tartakovsky that got cancelled because there were no toy tie-ins (seriously). It's like John Hughes and Leiji Matsumoto got together and decided to make a show about high school drama and giant robots.

Jake: the E3 trailer for Smash included Lincoln. (This was a matter of days before Codename S.T.E.A.M. was announced) -

Just a heads-up, there was a launch-era Wii U game called Pokémon Rumble U that was compatible with little Pokémon NFC toys. The game was released here, but the toys never were. EDIT: oh man, Chibi Robo! High-five, Jake! -
Hey peeps watching Parasyte: I haven't seen it yet. Does the anime still contain the part where the dude's arm turns into a dick?

My favourite bit of weird nerdy trivia is knowing that the guy who created Earthbound played the dad in My Neighbour Totoro.

I do a secret santa every year on another forum,* and here's a quick guide to how we run it. It seems to work pretty well. -everyone sends a PM to one user with their name, address, likes, dislikes, any important details like food allergies or digital/physical preferences, and whether they're willing to ship internationally. I've found that it helps to include Backloggery pages, amazon wishlists, etc. The names are sorted by RNG and the emails are then forwarded to their assigned Santa. -a few volunteers are assigned as emergency Santas. If someone doesn't or can't fulfill their secret santa obligations, the emergency Santas get gifts for those who would otherwise get left out. Anyone who doesn't send a gift without an adequate explanation is banned from participating next year. -If someone still can't figure out what to get their giftee or need more information, there's a dummy Santa account with a publicly-available password that anyone can use to PM their giftee any questions they might have. The giftee responds in a thread rather than by PM so that the Santa can see it without having to log in to the Santa account and sort through a bunch of unrelated PMs. -it's not a competition to see who gets the "best" gift, but everyone still shows off their shit when it arrives. 'Cause why not. *I got a spice set from Idle Videos' Johnny Driggs one year. True story.

OOT3D also benefitted from more plentiful and detailed textures that made areas look less samey and more significant. The Water Temple is the ideal example; having added details that let you easily see which switch corresponded to which water level and made corridors more distinct so you wouldn't get lost with no reason. They also let you assign the boots to a button, which is just the best.
