Just got a call from one of the places I dropped off a resume at. I have an interview in two hours. Terrified as fuck, unprepared, and not expecting to get the job.

The only really bright spots in Steamboy are the incredible mechanical designs and the goddamn amazing soundtrack by American composer Steve Jablonksy, who has a history of contributing spectacular music to arguably crappy projects (eg: the Michael Bay Transformers movies).

Some of the recent Zelda games have had statues in your starting location that would play hint videos forp your next objective if you interacted with them, and the recent Marios have all had some variant of an Invincibility Suit that only shows up if you've died a bunch.

There was a bit where the cutscene they were in did nothing to compensate for the lighting (so when they did shot-reverse-shot, the guy they were talking to was so saturated with orange light that he was practically invisible), and that fucking horse eventually started whinnying, but otherwise it seemed fine for a console port.

Giant Bomb livestreamed some of this a few hours ago. The Witcher 3 seems like a quality product.

There's also Archie vs Predator and the upcoming Archie vs Sharknado, which are just all kinds of weird.

There's also something to be said about how other reboots of eighties cartoons like the Transformers and GI Joe movies have been very gung-ho "fuck yeah, these guys are awesome," while the first one of these based on a show explicitly meant for girls seems to be more "being famous will stress you out and make people hate you." It's not that that's an inherently terrible hook, but the difference there is pretty difficult to ignore and I'm not expecting the director of the Justin Bieber movie to make the next Black Swan. Though I would totally be okay with the "realistic" route if the Misfits are replaced with the actual real life Misfits.
