Hey! My first child is due to be born on the 20th December! Let's see what I can come up with before I become a father! My game is Dunkin' Bronuts, a peanut throwing game for 2 players! Throw nuts into your stash, and catch your opponents nuts so they can't do the same. Most nuts wins! A feature complete but unpolished version is out on itch.io right now. https://gerbilsinspace.itch.io/dunkin-bronuts

[Released] (A Wish Upon) Some Kind of Star Drifter
gerbilsinspace replied to Nappi's topic in Wizard Jam 6 Archive
This looks gorgeous, and in the ultimate form of flattery, I really want to see if I am able to replicate this in some way. The controls look really intuitive, introducing a micro tutorial to the start screen is ingenious, and the colour scheme is gorgeous. Please keep this up! -
It's probably a fools hope, but I now plan to sleep. Turns out, Labour can be *hard*! I've added Released to the title name. Thanks everyone!

The style of this is through the roof! Well done! -
After 2 days and 4 hours of labour, my little lady is about to arrive! And with that I am calling this game released. 🍼

Playtesters needed! It's quite hard to test a 2 player game by yourself, so if you and a friend have a minute or two to spare, give the latest version of the game a try and give me feedback. So, we now have sound effects! We have a better throw feel! Any extra changes to the game that I want to do will probably take longer than I'd like, and may have to wait until after baby is born before I'm willing to take them on. If someone wants to help with more sprites, for jumping, and throwing states of the creatures, for example I'd be happy to code them in, but I don't have the time to do that work myself. I'd also like to make the arc of the throw slower, so players have more time to try and catch the nuts, but that would require me rewriting my (terrible) throwing code. I would prefer to ship this in it's current state with the hope of revisiting it at a later date. Any smaller feedback I receive will be worked on when resting from putting together baby beds and things.

I'm far too excited to see how this shapes out. I'm loving the style of what you have so far.

Another game engine recommendation: check out PICO-8 if you are looking into Love. The tight constraints of the engine may help keeping your work in scope.

[Released] Join and Undermine - Always support the Danger Layer

I'm very interested in this! placeholder graphics withstanding, I can see what you are aiming for. The movement looks fun. -
I've now updated the game so it tells you who wins. It also has music, and a splash screen. The game is feature complete, and if I had to release the game in it's latest form, I would be okay with it. That being said, I would love to give the game more polish. I would like to tune the difficulty of the game a little bit. Catching the opponents nuts is too difficult as the throw is too fast. I would like there to be more of an arc to the throw. I would like more animation on the characters, and I'd like to add some screen shake when a character scores. It would be good to add some sfx to actions, too.

I figured out how to export to a html file! I'll get something up onto itch.io now. Edit: link is in the first post

I will host the game on itch.io if I can, it is more that I don’t know how to turn a game made in the PICO-8 engine into a web game without hosting it on their forum.

Good catch. I'll change the link accordingly. I must have been super lazy near the end of that project.

For some thumbsian audio, I collated a reasonably large selection for my soundboard game, which can be found at https://github.com/gerbilsinspace/soundboard.cool/tree/gh-pages/audio

@root, I think I might just use this! Now, does anyone know how to deform a model based on user input, in the style of Mario 64 intro? I'm sure I'll find some use for this, in any case.

I've just completed Zelda today. I really enjoyed it, but I'm pretty sure I got through the game mostly by slamming my head against the systems, fudging my way through puzzles, and doing absolutely nothing as intended. There were a few times where I should have been solving a complex shrine only for me to freeze the floor switches, and run for the exit, skipping puzzles entirely. I'm sure I solved puzzles by slowly skirting around water puzzles that I was meant to turn off somehow. I never once took out a Hinox, Guardian, Rock Giant thing, Lynel, or Modest / Major test of strength. I ran past them like a ball of fear, not learning a thing about the fighting mechanics. It bit me pretty hard in the Phase 2 Ganon fight, I had no idea how to reflect lasers, or do any cool acrobatic attacks. I died 4 times unloading a ton of bomb arrows, doing no damage. I feel like I completed this game, knowing nothing. I love this game. -
Oh man, I've been thinking about making this step for many years, and keep bottling out, so I'm really excited to see you go for it! Whatever happens, keep us posted. I'm especially interested to see how you get along with train jam.

Idle Santa 2016! - giftees sent out! Please PM me if you didn't get one!

My secret Santa only left their real name, no username. As long as they know they hit my tastes pretty spot on, and I am grateful, I am cool keeping the Santa Secret. -

Man, I love my gifts, they are awesome! I received some Gebrannte Mandeln, which google translate tells me is burnt almonds, which are very tasty. they made their way to me from the Leipzig Christmas Market, which makes me very happy. There was also some framable double fine artwork which is pretty sweet, and it will go up in the bedroom with my artwork I received from Secret Santa last year. I also received a great fox magnet, which is grafitti in the secret santa's home town, Halle. Here it is with my growing collection of random magnets, including the pope which I got from the Vatican, and a dumb Venician cat that I love. I received One Bloody Thing After Another by Joey Comeau, which a fantastic comic artist that I read regularly. The book is a comedy / horror mashup, focusing on short stories. I also received a nice postcard which I taken a picture of. Finally, there is a homemade christmas star decoration, which is now hanging up in my kitchen window. I'd have put it up in the main window of the house, but there was nowhere to hang it on, and it is a nice thing to look at while I wash my dishes. One very good haul, all of which is to my taste. I enjoyed making the Christmas star, diy projects like these are why I gave dibs a raspberry pi. -
Mac version works great over here too! I love the collage facial generation. Will play more when I'm out of work.
