Finished Wolfenstein: The Old Blood after grabbing it during the Steam Sale. I was momentarily tricked, because I forgot it was about zombies. Outside of DayZ and L4D, I really dislike zombies in video games. Thankfully, it also has new cool-style BJ Blazkowicz who is somehow a real and interesting character and interacts with other people in the world in very human way. I thought the actual gunplay was better than New Order, possibly because it was just a shorter experience so I got the schockhammer faster. I did not like the last boss fight, but other than that it was really good. The zombies are even tolerable. Worth the $10 I paid, and short enough that I finished it in two evenings (which I think is a plus).

It sounds like Sony really blew the doors off this thing last night, albeit with shit I almost entirely don't care about?

I'm not saying I'm personally flipping out over Dogmeat. I am trying to get into a Dogmeat fan's head and suggest reasons why people might do that for Fallout as opposed to Call of Duty.

I liked the DLC quite a bit. Doud had slightly different movement and abilities, and he was treated as a character whose eyes you were seeing the world through as opposed to a silent protagonist you were shaping. They are worth playing as companions to the base game.

I think there are two major differences- 1) Dogpanion is a controllable NPC in an unscripted world who you can choose to be your buddy rather than having the game be about a dog. 2) Dogmeat has been in all the numbered Fallout games and thus is almost 20 years old, inspiring nostalgia and happiness.

Me, for trusting The Verge about anything ever.

You're wrong per The Verge, thus it is you who are the one that's dumb. The game will be free on Android and iOS tonight. It won't have pay-wall timers and won't require an internet connection.

I have no clue what the game is supposed to be, in relation to the Steam sale.

Ooh, Manhattan isn't anywhere near cioppino to me. Now I just want cioppino instead of either. -
That's kind of where I am. I am more than willing to grab Divinity, PoE, Wasteland, Invisible,Inc, but none of them have hit a price where I go into starvation must buy mode. If they go deeper on Far Cry 4 I would consider grabbing that as well. The Steam Sale being between Witcher 3 and impending Batman which I've already paid for is likely going to be quite good for my wallet.

I eat a lot more cleanly now than I used to in my early adulthood. If I ever pig out and have a bunch of greasy delivery food, the thing that hits me the most isn't the hideous fat content, it's all the salt in the food. I wake up all dehydrated the next day. If I had to choose a single thing to season food with forever, it's salt. That's kind of a duh answer but it's true!

I'm partial to Bobolo Baker's All Bith Band. -
Bjorn do you already own Bioshock 2, and did you own it when Gams 4 Winders Live was a thing? If so you should already own Minerva's Den. Nothing is exploding my face off on this, the first day of Steam's Sale.

Idle Thumbs 214: Ship It, Droopy

I joke and it's easy low-hanging fruit, but I will readily cop to the fact that I owned both the Tales from Mos Eisley Cantina and Tales from Jabba's Palace anthologies (Edited by Kevin J Anderson!), and read them multiple times. Critical fact: contains the story The Tale of Salacious Crumb. -
Me too. It really is. Salt your food! This isn't the restaurant trick where they add 3 Tbsp of butter to everything. This is a fundamental component of cooking things. Me either, it's in a salt cellar on my counter! I would consider marinated food seasoned. If you are cooking something with ground beef and it goes into the pot and then things are added on top, that's seasoned to me. I personally would probably salt the ground beef and taste it before going with other seasoning (depending on how salty the dish is) but I wouldn't look askance at not doing that.

Idle Thumbs 214: Ship It, Droopy

This episode was wonderful. The positive energy and enthusiasm was contagious. I'm sure we all have the band members of the group playing in the cantina in Mos Eisley memorized, right? How could anyone forget Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes? Band leader Figrin D'an on Kloo Horn, Lirin Car'n on backup Kloo Horn, Tedn Dahai and Ickabel G'ont both on Fanfar, Nalan Cheel on Bandfill, Doikk Na'ts playing Doremian Beshniquel (or as you might call it, the Fizz) and of course Tech Mo'r holding it down on the Omni Box Man, so iconic. -
I feel like I'm hearing this more and more, especially from little old ladies. Is it common for people to not use salt at all when they cook? I just had a conversation with someone who didn't think they even had salt in their house. Seasoning your food before you grill it isn't giving you high sodium! If your granddad had hypertension, the way you make sure not to follow in his footsteps is don't eat bacon and toast slathered in salted butter for breakfast, processed lunch meat every day for lunch, and a casserole with canned cream of mushroom for dinner. How do people bake without salt? It's a necessary chemical component! It's so weird. It's so weird.
