  1. Yeah they're archiving everything and also releasing smaller chunks edited. https://video.vice.com/en_us/channel/waypoint
  2. I THINK this was me also. I definitely enthusiastically backed the kickstarter. I didn't listen to podcasts before I got a smart phone, which was in 2010, so I was not aware of the original run but had listened to them all (most of them twice) by the time the new run started. I likely heard about it from the Giant Bombcast or another forum. It is insane that it's been ~5 years that I've been listening to the cast. It's also crazy that the "original" run, which I think of as vital, is like 20% of the episodes.

  4. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

For anyone who wants details about Le Switch, http://letsplayvideo games.com/ seems vital. They've been bang on with a lot of their rumors, and transparent when they aren't. That's weird as shit, though. Ah yes my home (but portable!) console is less portable (in my home?).
  5. TITANFLAPS 2

The Bombcast literally sold me the game. I am 100% in lockstep with Jeff on Titanfall. If he likes 2 I will like 2 (boy am I liking). I did end up buying Gears whichI have a little remorse for, not because the game's bad (it's good and I don't have Gears fatigue, this is my first campaign), but just due to spending the money. I played 90 minutes of the single player campaign for Titanfall last night and I have absolutely 0 buyer's remorse. I tried it with a controller, and here I said it: it's the best FPS controller experience that exists. Better than Destiny don't @me. The experience of the sound and fury of the titan dropping out of the sky, and mounting the titan and having the screens flicker on as you go from inside to outside is absolutely singular in games. No one can replicate those feelings and they hit me instantly as soon as I was back playing again. Thank you Jeff Gerstmann. They are not wrong about EDF. I quit 2 hours into Saints Row, though.
  6. TITANFLAPS 2

Reviews are coming in and I'm both encouraged by what they're saying, and now incredibly excited.
  7. I think drop in/drop out matchmaking is extremely correct for Overwatch because the game isn't scaleable. It's a 12 minute 6v6 all the time forever. It has A game type: matchmaking. Do I want servers? Yes, absolutely. For Battlefield, and Titanfall. I think the key point that's perhaps missing in the discussion is the things that have happened between the release of TF2 and Overwatch, and by things I mean DOTA 2 and League of Legends. TF2 and Overwatch are similar in game type but not in game style. TF2 is closer to BF2 in the ways the video is pointing out than it is to Overwatch. If you want that (and I do, BF1 having a server browser is major points in its favor for me), it's there. Free is a relative term, but let's call TF2's nightmare of crates and drops free, it still comes with the requisite abusive language and xenophobia. That's one spot where your game of choice doesn't limit the potential.
  8. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

I hope Nintendo is super successful with this new thing, and sounds like a lot of people want exactly what they're selling. I don't, and that's somewhat disappointing. Like I said though, it's not a shock or a surprise (although admittedly there's skepticism), it's more that it's confirmation.
  9. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

They gonna release Mass Effect 3 and Black Ops on it, too?
  10. Aisha Tyler is very busy in video games these days, huh!
  11. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

I'm a bit dumbfounded by people pointing to Skyrim as "real" 3rd party support this time around. I know Bethesda is putting out an HD remaster, but that game is 5 years old. I am quite impressed with the industrial design of the system, but everything else leaves me nonplussed. The portability of a system is so far beyond a selling point for me that it actually subtracts points in my eyes for being so mobile focused. All the design is about clicking and clacking onto different parts of the screen and the controller means less is focused on in-home delivering games straight to my couch-sitting face. Someone linked to a supposed hardware spec for the system, and checking around it doesn't seem like that's been corroborated except that it has custom nvidia SoC tech, but if those were actually the specs it would be severely underpowered compared to gen1 PS4 and XBone. I would be shocked if that was the case, because I can't imagine that hardware pushing a game like the new Zelda at above 1080p. I know Nintendo would make it work SOMEHOW, I just literally can't fathom how. No one else would even try it. I definitely feel like, outside of snapping those tiny little side nubbins off to act as 2 controllers, we were shown exactly what the rumors have been pointing to since Nintendo said they were working on a new console. So there wasn't any surprise for me to be had, just confirmation. It just drives home the ever-widening divide between Nintendo hardware and software for me where I would very much like to play the 6-10 amazing Nintendo games that will be released on the system but I'm not willing to pony up the $150-300 premium necessary to do so.
  12. The Next President

http://blog.paddypower.com/politics/2016/10/18/paddy-power-pay-out-hillary-clinton/ A betting site accepting wagers for the presidential race paid out to people who bet on Clinton this week. At this point the probability of a landslide is larger than Trump winning.
  13. I appreciate that they right aligned all the pictures. I am wildly excited for this website and also think the name is terrible and bland. I am hopeful that Junior Mints will be involved with their podcasts on at least an occasional basis.
  14. C'mon why are you so formal? It's just HitCon.
  15. The Next President

That's without any poll data from the weekend. The RNC is redirecting funding from the presidential race to down ballot races to try and save some semblance of power in government. Trump was already relying mostly on the RNC to organize the GOTV effort for them. I saw quotes that they'll now target voters who are split ticket in an effort to save every seat they can (eg - now targeting Floridian voters who are voting for Clinton but ALSO Marco Rubio for senate, which they were avoiding previously). This is effectively over. Wrap it up trumpailures, etc.
  16. Sports!

Not at all thrilled about Even Year Bullshit yet again.
  17. I love numbers in games, but this is a screenshot of one of my favorite games of all time so I might be biased. http://i.imgur.com/SimO7oT.png
  18. The Next President

The Supreme Court vacancy length is already wildly unprecedented. I know senators were blustering about "not doing their job" if the SITTING US PRESIDENT nominated a supreme court justice and they accepted, but they're not doing their jobs by not filling the seat.
  19. The Next President

I didn't feel this way in 2008-2014 about their tracking. Their words say the economy is trending up, President Obama is relatively popular (those things are linked), Trump is historically disliked, all of which tip towards Clinton, and they MOSTLY have had her at a 2/3 chance to be president, but there were those wild outliers where she was like 90% in June and low 50s in September and they were driving the 538 narrative. You can take number that are legitimate and true and crunch them into your algorithm so it reacts in a dramatic way without putting your thumb on the scales even a little bit. Most of the other known/reputable trend lines also have those spikes and dips, they're just way less severe.
  20. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

NEW THEME NEW THEME NEW THEME CROCK POT DISHES! As we turn the calendar to October and the weather finally dips below 80 degrees in North America, it's time to break out the slow cookers and make something hot and savory. If you don't have a crock pot, do not despair. Soups, stews, chili, longer one-pot meals all count. The idea is to make something that cooks together in more than an hour or two.
  21. The tray app's issue is it will tell you when you need EITHER a driver update or there's an app update but it won't tell you which until you open it and find out.
  22. The Next President

I wish I could find the tweet, I think it was a YouGov twitter, but they released poll results showing Clinton in the mid 40% polling and Trump in the high 30% for like the 12th straight poll with the comment "The most stable election tracking in history continues", basically subtweeting directly at Nate Silver. This presidential election has a much different shape than the previous ones in my adulthood, but I'll admit that 538's poll tracking histrionics have started to wear on my a little. I'm not saying there hasn't been volatility, but most of the betting odds websites have been very consistently set around Clinton 65% chance to win all spring and summer.
  23. Pepe Politics

Kermit sipping tea doesn't really have anything to do with pepe like the linked picture suggests.
  24. John Madden played football in college and was drafted by the Eagles. He had a career ending knee injury before he ever got to play a regular season game. He's a Hall of Fame football coach, though. He won a Super Bowl as Head Coach for the Raiders. He ended up in broadcasting because he was famous for being a coach.
