Some pretty cool stuff! I think your biggest difficulty right now is with evoking the third dimension, which is of course massively difficult with a limited palette and number of pixels. You did an excellent job on this with your bug's belly, but especially with the bear and the dancing jester's leg it's looking a lot more flat than I think it needs to. The same goes for the wolf's nose where I'd expect a lot more gradient/depth. I'm not sure how to fix it, pixeling isn't really something I'm good at, but I figure even lay feedback is better than none My favourite things about each - the wolf's ears (just look right) - the grass with flowers of the hoverbike (cool to see so much done with so little) - the bear's expression/face - the jester's colours, very vibrant

I think the 2nd version definitely is an improvement. The round face works better but still lacks internal structure. Also, given that from the perspective the face is on the underside of the body light-wise the high contrast between the facial colour and the completely black pits of the eyes and mouth is a bit odd as well. I'd like to stress again I think it's a cool design but you picked something technically quite challenging!

For me at least the thing is I don't think a flat circular face makes sense given the perspective & what the rest of the bug looks like. It *is* kind of disquieting so I guess your intended effect did hit the mark in one sense but it's also what makes it feel kind of off to me.

I love that last bug thing. I thin the biggest issue is a lack of depth definition in the head/face. You did a great job on the lower thorax so it's jarring to see the face be completely flat.
  6. International Politics

I read it as the opposite point of view: The US getting involved or trying to be in control in most cases ends in disaster. Same for most European powers. Heck, even within Europe things can go pearshaped quite badly, see: the Balkan war.

I've definitely enjoyed my batches without fish sauce more, plain soy sauce fits me better (also no animals: bonus!). I haven't branched out into other things than chinese cabbage yet, mainly because I can't imagine enjoying other bases as much. Maybe once I figure out a way to have a big enough supply of the regular kind. The stoneware is lovely indeed; my wife bought it to pickle gherkins in & then promptly snacked away her supply from the garden so I got to claim it. Only problem it's too small, I can't resist eating kimchi when I've got it so the crock only lasts me a week or so. I may have to ask the potter if he's willing & able to do something bigger with a fitting lid for me.

Yeah, her tongbaechu kimchi is the one I made one page back. 3 batches later I feel like I'm really starting to get the hang of it. Flavour keeps improving according to my test subjects anyway

The tongue is amazing! Only issue there is the glazing dripping down from the tongue tip doesn't seem to be shaded by the tongue, I think? I love that you're doing this.

  13. DOOM

Holy shit guys, I just got this and I LOVE it. I bought a PC way back in the day to play Doom 1 and this game has actually managed to recapture the magic. It's an absolutely stunning accomplishment. The music, the weapons, the speed, the environments, and all modernised and updated without disrupting the experience. I'm just in love. And then the genius touch of letting you take the new enemies and tools into the old levels... amazing.

I & my wife really enjoyed Melissa Rauch's The Bronze - very fresh and engaging, despite a rather ho-hum ending.
  17. Books, books, books...

I've been re-reading all the Gerald Durrell books. They're part of what kindled my love for biology and nature, and they're just as good as they were when I first read them as a kid. Unfortunately they've aged rather badly from a political point of view, but I can forgive that given the massive force for good his Wildlife Trust ended up being.

Congrats undermind! Lovely looking chappie. I've found these books to be immensely helpful when thinking about parenting and what my role and behaviour should be: http://brainrules.net/brain-rules-for-baby https://www.amazon.com/How-Talk-Kids-Will-Listen/dp/1451663889 My eldest (almost 6) just passed her swimming pre-test so I'm proud as pudding as well today.
