  1. IdleMC Epoch 7.5 Final Prologue GOTY Edition

It's unbelievable how many structures have been put up in such a short amount of time. Cordeos's castle is jaw-dropping, and elmeurte's tower is very impressive. I took a look through the Scandinavian Cottage; it made me feel very relaxed.
  2. IdleMC Epoch 7.5 Final Prologue GOTY Edition

So I'm creating an underground breeding lair for cats beneath Paul's home. I still have to find the cats, but once I do I'll be ready to supply everyone all the cats they could ever need.
  3. I usually hate games which include shooting hundreds of enemies (e.g., Uncharted), but The Division has been pulling me in for some inexplicable reason. I matched up with a random person at level two and we've been playing together ever since. He is Japanese so we can't really talk to one another, but we've managed to communicate quite efficiently through dancing. And I've liked the design of many of the underground levels so far; there's some really awesome scenes which make your character seem incredibly tiny. The worst part of the game has definitely been the Napalm Production Site... That entire mission must have taken four or five hours. Killing Joe Ferro at the end sucked! We ended up kiting him to the upper floor of the building and getting him to the middle of one of the long hallways. A person at one end of the hallway would shoot for ten or fifteen seconds, run out of sight, and then another person at the opposite end of the hallway would draw his attention. It felt cheap but at that point we just wanted it to be over. The Dark Zone seems to have some potential for fun. I haven't run into any interesting tit for tat situations really, but it's still early days. I did get shot in the face during my first extraction attempt, though. There must have been twenty enemies running around, and out of no where another player group joined the situation. They decided to kill us since we were low health, but the environment enemies just ended up killing them, too. How is the crafting for everyone? I've just been deconstructing all the items I have instead of selling them, so hopefully it pays off later on. The crafting recipes I have aren't really any better than my current items unfortunately. I'll definitely keep playing for the time being. I'm level fifteen and it hasn't been *too* repetitive. Hopefully the missions stay interesting as I continue.
  4. Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

I just started playing Omega Ruby and Pokemon is the best! The leveling seems to be pretty quick compared to Gen. 1, 2, and 3 games (jennegatron gave me a Charmander and the following day it evolved to a Charizard), and the hidden ability, sneaking, and shiny additions are wonderful. The online component seems to be competent, too, which is surprising given Nintendo.

You can't sway me away from following the clues you left! There better be an awesome prize at the end of it all because this is ten times harder than Fez.
  6. The Idle Thumbs Super Cookbook!

This is one of my favorite recipes from a local restaurant called Sunny Point. Sunny Point Cafe's Huevos Rancheros is a combination of several recipes and an assembly event. Give your self plenty of time to make each element of the dish and when ready to serve all you really have to do is cook your farm fresh eggs to order. Ingredients For Huevos: 4 cups red skin potatoes, fried or roasted 2 lbs chorizo sausage, cooked and crumbled 16 eggs 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled 1 package fried torilla strips fresh chopped cilantro, to taste chipotle power, for garnish For Roasted Green Salsa: 1 3/4 lbs fresh tomatillos 1/4 cup yellow onion, minced 2 garlic cloves, peeled 1 tsp dried oregano 1tsp dark chili power 1 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp kosher salt 1 tsp ground black pepper 2 tbls olive oil 1 or 2 serrano peppers, minced 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped For Black Bean Cakes: 2 15-ounce cans cooked black beans 2 tbls canola oil 2 tbls yellow onion, minced 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp kosher salt 1/4 cup masa de harina For Cilantro Crema: 1 cup sour cream 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped 1/2 lime, fresh-squeezed lime juice Cooking Directions For Roasted Green Salsa: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place tomatillos in a large bowl with water and peel the husks off of them. Place them in a large roasting pan and top with onion, garlic, oregano, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Drizzle olive oil over the top of the tomatillos and place roasting pan in the oven for 25 to 35 minutes. The tomatillos will break down and become juicy. Remove from oven and cool. Once tomatillos have cooled place in the bowl of a food processor fitted with a metal blade and puree with serrano and fresh cilantro. For Black Bean Cakes: Rinse and drain black beans. In a small saute pan heat 1 tablespoon of the canola oil over medium heat. Cook onion, garlic, cumin and salt until onions are translucent. Place drained beans and onion mixture in a small mixing bowl with a paddle attachment and mix together on low speed until well combined. Gradually add masa, allowing mixture to absorb it before adding more. Test dough by rolling it in the palm of your hand. Keep adding masa until dough doesn't stick to your hand and holds in the shape of a ball. Divide the dough into 16 small balls and flatten into cakes. Place a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of canola oil. Cook cakes until lightly browned on each side, about 3 to 5 minutes per side. For Cilantro Crema: Place sour cream, cilantro and lime juice in the bowl of a food processor and puree until mixture is smooth and a pale green color. Set aside for garnish. For Huevos: Place a 1/4 cup of green salsa on the bottom half of serving plate. On the other half of the plate, place 1/2 cup of herb-seasoned potatoes. On top of potatoes place 2 freshly grilled black bean cakes. In a large saute pan over medium heat, cook your eggs to order. For a large group, scrambled eggs are easiest. Top potatoes, green salsa and bean cakes with eggs, crumbled chorizo sausag, and feta cheese. Lastly, garnish each plate with tortilla strips, cilantro crema and a dusting of chipotle powder. Congratulations, you have constructed a Sunny Point Huevos!

I got my gift! This is the best and most frightening thing! Perhaps the robots will let me live if they see this during the human purge?

  13. Rocksmith

I received my guitar from Sweetwater! I've attached a picture of it at the bottom of this post. I've practiced on Rocksmith for 8-10 hours so far, and while it is a wonderful tool I'm definitely finding the supplemental material of JustinGuitar.com to be just as helpful. I've been struggling with the Chords 102 lesson in Rocksmith (switching from one chord to another) for the past three or so hours, but I imagine that's pretty common for newcomers. It's not a frustrating struggle though, as I can see myself markedly improving.
  14. Rocksmith

So I was having a random conversation with someone in the Idle Thumbs IRC channel today... and I ended up buying my first guitar. I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Tribute Plus with Rocksmith 2014 and they should be here in a few days. It'll be my first time with a guitar so I'm interested in seeing how Rocksmith's pedagogy plays out for complete beginners. It sounds like everyone in this thread was able to learn with it, though!
  15. Idle Thumbs Criterion Film Club?

I'm not sure if this applies to the Xbox 360, and I know that they advertise a trial on the podcast, but there was a three month Hulu Plus trial on the dashboard of my Xbox One.

  17. So after falling in love with Evidence of Things Unseen, I went to Amazon to purchase John Dollar based on Sean's recommendation. Here's what arrived: http://imgur.com/a/QSSAb. My name is Michael. I want to believe this was a wonderful coincidence.
  18. The threat of Big Dog

That robot table tennis match turned out to be an ad for a robot company that wasn't an actual competition. I am both relieved and disappointed.

  21. Movie/TV recommendations

The first three episodes were good, but the fourth episode sealed the deal for me. The final fifteen minutes of that episode were incredible. I believe it was all one continuous shot, too.

I usually give myself and the others I am with three options when in need of a cured hangover: IHOP, Waffle House, or some Huevos Rancheros.
