  1. The Idle Book Club 14: Everything I Never Told You

I think this book could have been ok if the characters weren't so two dimensional. Each character had their single personality trait that contributed to the overall story (repeatedly). Like I got pretty tired of hearing James ask Lydia about her friends. Totally with you on that.
  2. April Fools dump

    That keyboard looks awesome.
  3. Idle Thumbs 256: The First Great Brand War

Unfortunately the YUM! Civil War of 2023 will make that option impossible
  4. The Witness by Jonathan Blow

    Actually (endgame secrets spoilers)
  5. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

That thing doesn't seem realistic for a couple reasons, assuming the prior speculation about this being some hybrid home/portable system is true. Mainly, that weird form factor that looks not very portable and also uncomfortable to hold. Also, having that weird display format makes me wonder how it would work with a TV. Like, you wouldn't be able to switch from the handheld display to a TV seamlessly, which I thought was gonna be the whole point of the thing. I guess this thing will be revealed at E3? Pretty curious to see what they do.
  6. The Next President

You guys read the transcript of Trump's meeting with the Washington Post editorial board? It's really long and totally bananas from top to bottom. At one point he deflects a question about using nuclear weapons by saying that everyone there is good looking? Also this bit Honestly I could pull a similar quote from any exchange in the meeting. Reading it is probably as close as I could come to the sensation a robot would have after you give it one of those logical paradoxes that causes it to self destruct.
  7. Firewatch Spoiler Thread | Henry Two Hats

You can pick up the backpack on your own before leaving for the day. I'd guess they just wanted to avoid a "get your backpack, dummy" prompt when you try to leave, so Henry will just pick it up independently on your way out. Makes things a bit more seamless. I want to mention the best Firewatch secret, which is that the PS4 theme is fucking slick. It looks really good (of course), changes with the time of day, and has top tier Remo guitar strumming. Right up there with Corn Love Forever imo.
  8. Revoke Kansas Statehood

Just doing some reading about this. Hoooly shit these guys are bananas. They want to impeach judges for "usurping the power of the state legislature". Also this reads like something out of a satire: From http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/kansas-conservatives-advance-bill-impeachment-judges-37552972
  9. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I've also been playing Pikmin 3 off and on. The fruit names are so great. I've found the best controls to be Wii Remote + Nunchuck (with the gamepad awkwardly on my lap for map stuff).
  10. The Idle Book Club 13: Never Let Me Go

I bought a used copy of this book. This is the first page and aside from a highlight or two, the only markup in the entire book:
  11. Tales from the Borderlands

Probably my favorite Telltale game so far. I bounced off actual Borderlands hard so I was cautious going into this but it was good top to bottom (Jake I'm with you on episode 5 owning). I'll just also mention that the title sequences were fantastic, especially the last one.
  12. Dog Mendonça and Pizzaboy: a new LucasArts-ish adventure

I played it for an hour or two. The animation can be kinda rough but the artwork itself is great. I agree with what Vader said about the English/VO work, but the characters and setting seem neat so it's not a dealbreaker. Gameplay has been standard adventure game fare with no groanworthy puzzles (yet).
  13. Damn it, but computers have become really complicated

I don't know how successful this will be, but it might be worth getting in touch with the laptop manufacturer.
  14. Official Giant Bomb Thread Mostly for Complaining About Dan

Yeah I found myself skipping around when they started getting way into tweaking their orbit to line up juuuuust so. Probably best to put it on in the background and do something else and rewind any time I hear Austin yell "Vinny!". It was funny watching them be so, so careful when transferring the Kerbal though. They had him hugging the ship as if he's just gonna randomly fly off into space otherwise (maybe with these guys that's possible).
  15. Automation: Where did all the jobs go?!

Someone at the New York Times is lurking this thread... http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/03/technology/plan-to-fight-robot-invasion-at-work-give-everyone-a-paycheck.html
  16. No Man's Sky

    Where did you see this?
  17. The Happy Thread

I'm just so happy for both of you!
  18. The Happy Thread

  19. What's for Breakfast?

With some toast to sop that goodness up, that's how.
  20. What's for Breakfast?

We can not. Runny yolks 4 life.
  21. The threat of Big Dog

That hockey stick guy is gonna be the first against the wall...
  22. The Idle Book Club 11: Fates and Furies

I think we'd all be interested in hearing your perspective on the book. You can't expect everyone to have a deep knowledge of the Greek Classics. These discussions are for sharing these kinds of insights.
  23. A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes

I'd never get this shirt because it's not really my kinda thing, but I do love it: http://www.nerdvanaclothing.com/product/darmok-jalad-at-tanagra-front-back
  24. The Witness by Jonathan Blow

You're probably missing something in how the stars work. See the spoiler if you want more specifics on their mechanics. You could also post a pic of your failing solution if you want some more specific help.
