  1. Official Giant Bomb Thread Mostly for Complaining About Dan

Remember when the Bombcast used to start each week with them taste testing a new energy drink? Eesh...
  2. Destiny (MP)

Cross posting from the main thread. I made a private group on the100.io that might help a lot for scheduling games and playing together. Join! https://www.the100.io/g/1459?r=96641
  3. Destiny

I went ahead and made a group on the100.io. Seems like this might be a decent way to plan things since you can schedule events or set your status to what you're doing or interested in doing (all things that the game should do, but whatever). Anyway, here's the link to join: https://www.the100.io/g/1459?r=96641
  4. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Look, it's great that the mushrooms charge your batteries, but how to they taste?
  5. Destiny

I'd say it's a lot easier to max your light level out now. The vendors sell gear that will immediately get you up to 33 (or 32? I forget), which makes pretty much all content available to you. To be fair though, the best way to afford that stuff is still running the strike playlists (or playing crucible). The economy has been changed a decent amount. Shards/Energy are only needed to level up pre-HoW gear. New stuff has its light or attack maxed out right away, which is nice. Getting to 34 just involves running Prison of Elders a few times and/or doing the new PvP Trials of Osiris (both to get top-tier gear and to get Etheric Light, which lets you bump any gear to the max). And the endgame is still somewhat repetitious. Run the various Prison of Elders, the two raids, weekly strikes are the main PvE activities. They mix things up with different modifiers each week, but they are what they are.
  6. Steam Summer Sale Spendapalooza

*stares into space, dreaming of the day when KR0 Act IV is released*
  7. Destiny

The new sub-classes look fun and that slam dunk for CTF is great. Price is a bit high though...I hope they have the content to back it up.
  8. Recently completed video games

Halo 3 is a safe bet, though I found the Flood sections annoying. I also really enjoyed Reach FWIW. And if you enjoy the challenge, I'd recommend trying out Legendary difficulty. The combat encounters are almost like puzzles at that point (weapons to use, approaches, etc) and being Halo games, they are all really well designed. Getting through it is very satisfying.
  9. DISHONORED 2: MISS HONORED

Yeah I preferred the speaking protagonist in the DLC to the always goofy to implement silent one of the main game.
  10. DISHONORED 2: MISS HONORED

Knife of Dunwall and Brigmore Witches are essentially just one story arc, so those you should get together. It's at least on par with the base game quality-wise, so if you want more of that, it's definitely worth checking out.
  11. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Something I will just have to learn to live with, I think...
  12. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I only watched the final of the NWC, but man, Mario Maker looks fantastic. Hopefully they get a good system in place to find good levels because god knows I won't be making any.
  13. Feminism

    It's man-sized.
  14. Destiny

Congrats! Best PvE handcannon in the game, bar none. I ran a HM Crota raid the other day with an ascended one, and in the lamp section a headshot into a pack of thralls would kill every one of them (side rant: I got zero weapon drops from that raid )
  15. The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

They should let devs set the refund timer (increments of 30 minutes or something, make the number prominent at time of purchase) and also not have cards drop until after that point.
  16. The Last Guardian

    No, but it was finished.
  17. The terrible wallet scourge of the Amiibo.

There's gonna be an Olimar amiibo!? I've been so strong so far...
  18. Sense8

I watched Nightcrawler last night. The plot itself was fine but not on its own remarkable, but oh boy Jake Gyllenhal was so creepy and good.
  19. Didactic Thumbs (Pedantry Corner)

From the Dark Souls 3 thread: Ahem, I think you mean abstruse.
  20. Destiny

That is a Good Idea. Hooray for using ingenuity to overcome glaring in-game shortcomings.
  21. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

I never got around to playing the DLC for New Vegas. Based on all the Fallout talk that's been going on lately, this was a mistake.
  22. Idle Thumbs 213: Build the Nublar

In the classified version that bit is replaced by a "boring through human flesh" demo. Watch as it dissolves in human blood, leaving no evidence behind!
  23. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

I liked the hacking game for a little bit, but it eventually became tedious (like all of these minigames inevitably do). Luckily I played on the pc and just installed a mod to make hacking & lockpicking just a skill check. In Fallout 4 I just want good/interesting writing and hopefully an engine that allows characters to move less like robots. A more interesting combat system would be a nice bonus.
  24. Meow.

My cats have been pumping out hairballs left and right lately. Brushing is the main way to combat that right?
  25. Destiny

MIDA is a fun gun. Definitely worth getting. One thing about it that's not listed is it's great at staggering enemies. In PvE you can practically stunlock a lot of bigger enemies and in PvP you can win a lot of matchups at range because hits screw up their aim so badly (obviously close range it's not so great). No worries Jon, I'll be on this weekend for sure to get up to lvl 5 in IB (also want to do PoE and maybe Trials if anyone is up for it). I had like some sort of zen moment in IB last night. I had been playing terribly Wednesday night with one match having a KDR of something like 0.2, but then my first time in yesterday I knocked down 27 kills and a later match I had a KDR of something like 4.5, which is off the charts for me. Dunno if it was my aim or awareness or what, but everything was clicking. Felt really good.
