  1. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

I read the first three issues of Coffin Hill and it's really weird. I can't tell if I think it's interesting or stupid, I guess I'll see in a couple weeks when issue #4 is out.
  2. GTA IV runs poorly on Windows 8.1 (with 1.0.7.0 patch)

It's better than the Red Dead Redemption PC port though.
  3. Recently completed video games

I finished a game for the first time in a long while. I played through Attack of the Friday Monsters yesterday and I liked it. I think the story itself might work better in a movie (not to say it didn't work in the game, but it really felt like something that would make a good Ghibli type film). What I liked most about the game was just walking around and taking in the ambience, which makes me really wish that any of the Boku no Natsuyasumi would get localized.
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

I finally got around to watching Trailer Park Boys and 8 episodes in or so it's pretty good.
  5. General Video Game Deals Thread

I got Super Hexagon for 29 cents which is less than I've been getting for each trading card I sell.
  6. Red Dead Redemption

I originally planned on playing Undead nightmare, but after a while I got in the mindset that I would play it when RDR came out on PC. I think I should just give up on that.
  7. Idle Thumbs Accompaniment?

I mostly listen to podcasts while walking my dogs.
  8. General Video Game Deals Thread

I saw Ubisoft's Epic Loot game in a flash sale and definitely felt weird.
  9. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Thank you for making it! I'll write more in a little bit but just a couple things. She thought it was super cool when she found a note in the closet about a skull and she remembered already seeing it in another room earlier. She also really liked the audio logs, which were a completely new concept to her. She got super into them and one time I asked her a question while one was playing and she yelled at me to shut up. She got stuck for a while trying to find out where a key was supposed to go and I expected her to go to bed (it was pretty late and she had just gotten back from New Zealand and was super jet lagged), but she didn't go to bed until she finished the game. Her boyfriend asked if it was kind of short, I think it took her around 3-4 hours and her response was "it's a house, Mike, that's how long they wanted it to be." Also while she was playing she said to her boyfriend "I bet these guys are in Oregon" (guys referring to both the people in the game and the people who made the game). I think it was after she saw the picture of the falls, or maybe when she pointed out that a book was published by UofO, but when I asked her what felt like Oregon in the game to her she just said "It's raining." Like I said, I'll post more later, I'll talk to her in a little bit about the game, but the main thing is that she absolutely loved it. Her birthday is today and I have a copy of Telltale's Humble Weekly Sale I got a long time ago for her since she was gone and while I know she's going to like a lot of the games since they're the kind of one's she's familiar with, Gone Home is her favorite game ever now and that isn't likely to change. You're biggest fan: http://i.imgur.com/rVF8vdI.jpg She had just found something and didn't know I was watching. By the way when I told her I had posted on a forum about her playing a game and Steve Gaynor had responded she was amazed.
  10. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

She keeps getting excited and calling her boyfriend over to show him stuff, like just now she got a picture and and called him over to show him it was Multnomah Falls. This is the most fun I've had with a game in a really long time and I'm not even playing it.
  11. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

So my sister grew up in the 90's, lives in Portland, and just came back home after a year abroad. I got her this game and watching her play it is the best thing ever. She's played some video games before, mostly adventure games (our uncle worked at Humongous Entertainment when we were little so tons of Freddie Fish and such growing up, as well as Lucas Arts games). When the Nancy Drew games first came out she was super into those and played all of them so she's already super stoked to play this because her favorite part about those games was exploring and being a sleuth. I didn't realize until I started watching her, but she's never played a game that isn't point and click which seems like such a bizarre idea, but when I think about it I don't know why I would assume that she has. She was using the arrow keys to move around and accidentally bumped the mouse and thought the game crashed and freaked out. She was actually just now staring at the floor and when she realized she could just move around and turn the camera however she wanted she was so fucking stoked. The things I take for granted.
  12. Nintendo 3DS

So I have two games downloaded on my 3ds and no other demos or dlc. Yesterday I tried to update my mii plaza and didn't have enough blocks. If I want to upgrade the sd card in my system can I just take out the sd card and copy the contents onto a blank sd card and put that into the 3ds?
  13. Movie/TV recommendations

I'm watching Orphan Black with a friend, I'm 5 episodes in and I'm not digging it.
  14. Album of the Year, '13

Kurt Vile - Walking on a Pretty Daze is probably my aoty. New Republic of Wolves album comes out in a few days and it could be really good.
  15. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I don't know what my favorite albums are this year, I don't even remember what exactly was early this year and what was late 2012. Kurt Vile is probably my aoty and Deafheaven is up there too.
  16. Nintendo 3DS

MBaron, M.Baron, and M-Baron are all taken. God damn Edit: I can get theIastbaron and in the Nintendo font it looks normal, but I don't know if I want to go down that rabbit hole.
  17. GOTY.cx 2013

I'm actually probably going to get a Wii U long before I get one of the other consoles.
  18. It's beginning to look a lot like...

Last year I meant to change my avatar so the gun was a menorah and I never got around to it. This year I forgot until after Hanukkah.
  19. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Speaking of Black and White, Batman:Black and White is great. It's a collection of a bunch of short (8 pages) stories done by people like Bruce Timm, Neil Gaiman, Archie Goodwin, and other great people. The styles are all so different so it's a super cool mishmash. The first issue is probably my favorite, and of the stories in it the Bruce Timm one is probably my top pick. Edit: just to make sure, everything is in black and white.
  20. Remedy's 'Quantum Break'

If I get to the point where I think that Microsoft is actually going to make this the last Xbox and in the future the cloud does all the processing I'll buy one.
  21. Nondescript Adventure Gaming Topique

    Gemini Rue has combat.
  22. The Official Video Game Music Corner

Not clicking that, it's going to be stuck in my head all day if I do. That would make me feel like a cybernetic badass though.
  23. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Elijah Wood has an Audible version of Huckleberry Finn and it's fantastic.
  24. GOTY.cx 2013

3DS. Most of the games I played this year weren't 2013 releases, but those that were consisted of The Wolf Among Us (which was great, but still only at one episode so far), and then 6 or so 3DS games. My favorite was probably Fire Emblem, but Pokemon got 3-4 of my friends to pick up a system so that's good too.
  25. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

What's wrong with Bone color editions? I have the big Bone books in b/w but some of the color digital editions and they seem nice.
