That's how I feel about Lhasa de Sela, who is unfortunately also dead. Not so much because of the energy in her case but just the passion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_N_FQuSeuo
  2. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I thought I wasn't going to like it because I didn't like the first song they released (High Road) , but I actually ended up really liking it. I think every other song is really good, whereas with The Hunter I was super hit or miss.
  3. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Burden of Knowledge is good, other than that I'm not familiar with everything else. I wish the John Byrne stuff was in it, specifically Leonard McCoy: Frontier Doctor which is great. Also regarding Star Trek comics, I'm really excited to pick up the new City on the Edge of Forever book when it's done and collected.
  4. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

I really liked it. I definitely found it to be one of those books that I liked in spite of the main character (which is also the way I felt about Scott Pilgrim actually). Also, the colors are great. Nathan Fairbairn is fantastic.
  5. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

I haven't read the mini, but I did read a lot of Hardware back in the day which is where the character comes from. Man I really miss Dwayne McDuffie.
  6. Post your face!

    Wow, those pictures are fantastic
  7. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

The fourth issue of Southern Bastards that wraps up the first arc FINALLY came out today and wow, this series is by far my favorite thing currently being published. It's the only comic in years that I actually count the weeks until another issue comes out and am in a hurry to pick up. Everything else I either just read in trades or if I do read it monthly I just browse through what the new releases are and when it happens to be something I'm reading I pick it up.
  8. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Has anyone here read The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec? I really liked It Was the War of the Trenches and Goddamn This War and am looking into reading some more stuff by Jacques Tardi.
  9. Anyone here use one of the newer 360 controllers with the different dpad that you can twist and it turns from a circle to an actual plus sign?
  10. Nintendo 3DS

I'm glad I have Xenoblade for the Wii and never ever play my 3ds with 3d enabled or else I might be kind of bummed about this.
  11. Sports

The Browns one is always the best in a really depressing way. The fan quotes are great.
  12. Sports

Now I feel like a jerk for being mad that the MLB aren't letting the A's move to San Jose (I don't even like the A's).
  13. Cartoons!

If I also didn't like the first season at all do you think I'd like it?
  14. Borderlands 2

Yeah, when I went in 2011 they gave me/everyone a code for Borderlands 2. They're nice guys and seemed genuinely excited that of all the panels going on people were deciding to go to theirs.

I've never actually listened to any of his stuff, but I loved his essential mix, probably in my top 5 essential mixes.
  16. Nintendo 3DS

I played the first game, it was fun and as an rpg it's fine, but it's nothing like actual soccer though, not that it pretends to be. It's a bunch of kids who all have magical techniques (the main character is a keeper who learned some special "God hand" technique in his late grandfather's secret notebook and is now able to block any shot). Basically typical jrpg stuff.
  17. Nintendo 3DS

I totally forgot I owned that game. I bought it when I first got my 3DS because there was a promo going on where if you bought SMTIV and Fire Emblem you'd get a $30 eshop voucher which essentially made SMT cost $10 since I already owned Fire Emblem and was planning on buying Animal Crossing. I played it for a little bit and then stopped because I never really got into it, but I've launched it a couple times since to check on my streetpass stuff which gives me points for the gadget thing you have with apps.
  18. anime

So I decided to watch FMA Brotherhood. I watched the first series when it came out and thought it was alright but never watched Brotherhood when it came out. I finally decided to check it out after having it on my Netflix list for a while and after watching the first season I'm out. It's just way to tonally inconsistent. It'll be in the middle of some overly dark and brooding conversation trying to be super serious and then next thing I know everyone is chibi style and it's all goofy. I just can't take it seriously. Also this is totally just preference, but the animation/art style seems worse than the original show, though it's been many years since I watched that.
  19. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

https://digital.darkhorse.com is currently having a sale on their omnibuses, pricing them at $9.99. I don't know if people here are interested in any of them, but I might get some of the Star Wars books and maybe Grendel even though I'm not a huge Grendel fan (I really like Matt Wagner though).
  20. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Yeah this is my initial hunch.
  21. Myst-a-likes?

That made me look it up and yup it's gorgeous.
  22. Movie/TV recommendations

    Wow, Robin Williams, Wtf.
  23. Modern Full Motion Video Games

Infamous also did the same thing where all the things you see on the TV are live action video and it was kind of weird.
  24. Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

I just saw that you hated the shoes the characters have. They actually look exactly like the shoes the company my sister's boyfriend works for makes and I agree.
