  2. Far Cry 2

I put over 30 hours into Far Cry 2 (didn't even finish the game), and along the way made a little screenshot journal in Steam This one is probably my favourite, just for the story it tells
  3. Plug your shit

Just out of curiosity, Firefox or Chrome? Thanks for the feedback, as well
  4. Plug your shit

    I'm also Australian! Try http://clp.me/foreshore.php?mute
  5. Plug your shit

So I updated a thing a made a while ago with music I made today: http://clp.me/foreshore.php It's an interactive HTML5 game (there are no goals, I guess it's a toy) Typical gameplay session looks like this:
  6. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

That was the song that got me into the Dirty Projectors This may also take a few plays to catch on - it's by them and from the same era: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4he_jgJrMCk I've probably listened to their new album (Swing Lo Magellan) more than anything else that's come out this year A lot of people are of the opinion that the song structure/writing is simpler (I suppose less "deep") than the previous album, Bitte Orca The weird thing is that because I've listened to so much Bitte Orca over the years, my brain has dissected every song to the extent that they don't sound complex anymore After a few spins, the new album fit right in - I didn't even immediately notice that the musical style was pretty different (it's definitely way tighter and neater) I can remember walking home from work listening to Swing Lo Magellan on the day it came out, and I was super excited because I still wasn't yet familiar with every little moment in every track Basically, my experience with their music has been like Stockholm Syndrome At first I didn't understand them, eventually I began to empathise, and now (two memorized albums later) I'm totally speaking their language Also, I'm from Sydney and The Presets are goddamn huge here (probably because they're local) Dropping some E at a Presets show is a rite of passage for Australian youth
  7. I can vaguely remember Jake talking on a cast about how the boss of the first level of Bad Dudes eventually shows up as a generic dude when you get far enough in That pretty accurately summarises my experience with that era of video games, in terms of the very present difficulty ramp It's probably attributable to arcade game design more than the post-2005 "cinematic blockbuster Unreal Engine 3" thing that seems to be the expectation now I can beat most games on normal or hard these days without having too much trouble, but I'd still not be able to get to the later worlds of Mario 3 on one attempt It's interesting that no-one on the cast brought up Black Ops, which is both non-linear in its storytelling and historical/period fiction The whole Call of Duty series (as far as I know) features multiple perspectives within each game Pretty significant given they're likely the most-played narratives of this generation
  8. Plug your shit

It's weird how because you linked to it from here, I expected a really bumbling sudden opening (a la Thumbs) Maybe it's kinda like how The Office destroyed the idea of traditional sitcoms in my brain Anyhow, this isn't bad and you shouldn't quit!
  9. If you're talking about the cameo, I'm on the same page
  10. Plug your shit

    Parallax guy! We meet again!
  11. Plug your shit

We're gonna make a few games and release it as the Faux-Retro Fauxback Fun-Pack
  12. Plug your shit

OK, here's an engine demo of mine: (grab the 60fps video if you can) This project is a long time coming, but it's definitely moving along now
  13. Saw this on Reddit, reminded me of the terrified Dot Gobbler kid from the cast Who let the freshman in? (a little NSFW)
