  2. I love the idea of being able to play in bite size chunks on the go. But as someone who lives in the suburbs with no access to public transportation and works in an office in the middle of nowhere I'm forced to drive everywhere so portability is just not a factor for me.
  3. Today
  4. Arrowverse (DC/CW shows): Arrow, The Flash, etc.

I forgot that was a thing. As a concept I'm glad its going to exist but I'm just not really interested in getting back into that universe.
  5. Good episode. I'm waiting for UI improvements mostly and thus not playing the game. But I consider it a good game, probably on par with EU4. Sad to see a lot of negativity about it among the public.
  6. Free Music Resource - Over 1800 Tracks

Hi everyone, Here’s a brand new music track for you: On my City/Urban page: ON THE PROWL WITH CAPED CRUSADER CAT – Wandering the midnight streets, searching for wrong-doers. https://soundimage.org/city-urban-2/ I’m also working to build up the ambience section of my site…so here are some cool new ambiences on my AMB - Sci-Fi Ambience page: MACHINE DREAMS – I wonder what it’s dreaming about? This might sound nice to create an eerie, weird-feeling environment or situation. MYSTERIOUS AMBIENCE – This one might work for an alien underwater environment…or perhaps something else. https://soundimage.org/amb-sci-fi-ambience/ If you find my work helpful, please consider making a donation to my website. The synthesizers I use to create the music and sounds that I share with everyone are very expensive…so expensive, in fact, that I have to make monthly payments on them…and donations really help me a lot to pay for them. Thanks in advance…and please feel free to share your projects…I love to see how creative people are using my work!

Judging from the clip of Aladdin I saw, Will Smith could really have used that new sound.
  8. Anyone else bugged by Rob's pronunciation "Em-per-rat-er?" I always thought it was "Em-peer-a-tor" Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe it's regional, or maybe it's common mistake vs knowledgeable nerd. Don't know

Ah, that does, thank you! I knew that there would be some rather big differences, but I kind of assumed he'd given them his definite set-in-stone endpoint. Would be great if it were completely different (though not just for the sake of it). And in his latest blog he gives the New Zealand tourism board permission to imprison him in a small cabin until he's finished AWOW if he doesn't have it published in time for his Summer 2020 visit there, so I choose to believe he will definitely have it done by then! Then, what, another 5 years for ADOS?
  11. Movie/TV recommendations

On a different note, I wouldn't necessarily recommend the new Aladdin movie. Though I will say the Prince Ali song made me laugh out loud, because at the start Will Smith wears a headdress so voluminous all I could think about was that underneath he had the same hair as Rudi van der Saniel.

If it makes you feel better, Martin's said that the endgame that he gave to Benioff and Weiss was just one possible outcome, so any resemblance to the books that'll hopefully come out someday will probably be only passing.
  13. At least the food isn't a survival mechanism. It's basically just a health refill, plus maybe a temporary boost to some stats. But yeah, I get it. One nice thing about the Switch for me has been the portability and the system-level mandate that games support preserving their state when you put the console to sleep. It makes it easier to play things for a little bit at a time.
  14. Thank you very much for the information! I'll be looking into those links.
  15. The thing I feel like would turn me off is all the additional systems in the game I'd have to deal with, like weather and food and gear. On paper they might sound interesting but in almost every game that has them I end up annoyed rather than entertained. I mean you could also be totally right but these days my time and budget are limited so I'm much less willing to risk getting something on the chance I'd like it and stick to something I have fewer reservations about.
  16. I thought it was fun to do nonlethally, I always enjoy having a limited toolset and finding the one weak point that lets you exploit them. The worst bit is when you leave someone snoozing and then they fall 10cm and die, or rats get them, and the game doesn't tell you. That's the only reason I didn't get ghost on the first game. I did get it on the later ones where there's an indicator that you fucked up somewhere.
  17. Last week
  18. Aw, thanks Hopefully at some point in the future either you'll get a PC or it will come out on other platforms! Additional news: episode 2 of our awful 'cast is now up, same link as before!

The Veep series finale was phenomenal. Miles better than Game Of Thrones, too (definitely regretting my decision to move back to the show instead of waiting for the books now).
  20. Marvel movies

Oh damn, sorry, I meant to mention that we had previously decided it made sense to keep that thread to Netflix only, but obviously my attention wandered! Makes sense to keep it in here, I reckon, rather than start a bunch of tiny non-Netflix Marvel tv show threads...
  21. Not tempted by the upcoming Batwoman?
  22. You never know... I still have minimal interest in the combat sections of that game, but playing it as a purely open-world exploration adventure, it gave me plenty of fun. Figuring out how to sneak around mobs to unlock fast-travel towers or get past mountain ranges turned into a kind of weird meta-puzzle that I enjoyed more than I expected.
  23. Sadly, I do not have Steam or anything PC related when it comes to games, or else I would wishlist it. I loved the first game a lot, I played it in a hostel in Budapest over a week of beer and takeaway food, and will always fondly remember it.
  24. Life

Yeah dude, that stuff always sounds terrifying. Glad it ended up being a false alarm. When it comes to things like that I would rather that medical specialists err on the side of caution and be wrong.
  25. Three Moves Ahead Episode 469: Imperator

The episode link directs the listener to the Idlethumbs forum instead of this thread. I find it unfortunate how Troy won't be able to discuss the game. Would love to see his take on it. And poor Fraser wasn't able to be on it. Sad.
  26. Three Moves Ahead 469: Imperator: Rome Rob, TJ, and Jon are not quite sure what to make of Imperator: Rome, the latest historical grand strategy game from Paradox Development Studio. Should a Hellenistic warlord have such fine control over demographics? Is there much to do beyond empire-building? On the other hand, when the eagles are marching, does there need to be? 27. Building a Free Library of Images for Everyone

Hey there, I’ve posted some more wild cartoon-style texture images derived from glass objects: TXR – GLASS – Cartoon https://soundimage.org/txr-glass-cartoon/ As always, please remember that they are meant to be building blocks rather than polished textures, so feel free to edit / alter / mash / etc., as needed. Don’t forget to check out my learning series that teaches environmental responsibility in a fun way through stories and characters. The premise is this: How can we expect children to be the future stewards of the Earth if they don’t feel connected to it?? Please share with family, friends, teachers or anyone who might find it useful. https://soundimage.org/dunes-island/ Have a good week!
  28. Weirdly, I didn't have that reaction to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but I did to Mankind Divided. I'm not sure what the difference was: the formula getting tired with another thirty- or forty-hour game, the layout change from corridor missions linking small open-world areas to a more holistically open-world design, the incredibly dumb and obvious "ripped-from-the-headlines" themes of Mankind Divided... Whatever it was, I played through Human Revolution twice but gave up ten hours into Mankind Divided.
  29. Oh man, Deus Ex. I bounced off that game so hard. I had never played a Deus Ex game before Human Revolution and I was quite excited to get into it. The story seemed interesting and it has all the world building details I normally love but I HATED everything about playing the game. It felt so ridiculously clumsy and awkward. Attempting to do anything either in stealth or loud was a comedy of errors as I never managed to accomplish either one with any amount of grace. It could be a personal failure on my part but I very quickly gave it up after much frustration.
