elmuerte Posted May 8, 2012 hmm... what a crappy thread title Anyway, Carmageddon: Reincarnation has resorted to kickstarter http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stainlessgames/carmageddon-reincarnation I loved the original Carmageddon, but 2 and 3 sucked quite a bunch, specially because they introduced missions and stuff. I'm not sure if I would back this project. If it'll be like Carmageddon 2, I'll pass. But the details are a bit sparse. Also, again a game project that was already started long time ago. So it's not really a kick-start, but more a kick in the rear to wrap up the development. It's not a bad thing per se.
youmeyou Posted May 8, 2012 The first Carmageddon was absolutely perfect. So much fun, so many hours sunk in, trying to run over super-fast cows and "police, stop!" and that football stadium stage... oh the memories. That being said, I loved Twisted Metal 2 and haven't even *liked* anything else in the franchise since. For whatever reason it never felt right without the early crunchy low-res 3D aesthetic. And maybe I grew up a bit too. So this gives me pause. I'm skeptical that they can take what made Carmageddon great and translate it to something that's relavent 20 years later. (Which is also a general problem with most of these nostalgia-based kickstarts)
Kolzig Posted May 8, 2012 Is this Tim Schafer? EDIT: And I didn't yet watch the video when I posted originally this so apparently it is.
toblix Posted May 8, 2012 I'm afraid this kickstarter marks the point at which I stop backing game kickstarters just because they're game kickstarters.
