Erkki Posted November 20, 2011 Damn, this just keeps getting worse. I don't think precise platforming + puzzles is a particularly good combination if interleaved like that. There's this one level where you set off a dynamite at the very start, which sets off a long chain reaction of burning wood that you have to race. One misjump and you have to begin again. After that there is a relatively easy puzzle (I think, I kind of solved it by mistake) then a very easy puzzle, and then a hard one. Get the hard puzzle wrong? Congratulations, you have to do the race again. This is why it needs checkpoints.
elmuerte Posted November 20, 2011 That level could have used a checkpoint halfway.
Erkki Posted November 24, 2011 Ok, I'm trying to ignore the checkpoint issue and am really enjoying it. Almost looked at a walkthrough for the end puzzel of the race level, but finally got it. drill the right dynamite, jump up to avoid death and run right. Previously I somewhy thought I should drill the left dynamite and jump however many times (3 or 4), but of course that failed.
Erkki Posted November 26, 2011 Puzzle Game of the Year: confirmed. I still have some things to do (big mama blocks that matter, the stars and most of the bonus missions). It's kind of weird that this game has repetition as filler though -- first the no checkpoints thing, then the fact that you can sometimes get either the block that matters or the star (and sometimes you can't get either on the first time, I think). But on the other hand, I guess it does give the game a bit more longevity -- if you could get everything the first time, you would play through it quickly and forget about it. Erkki Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) Aaargh. Those bonus levels that are unlocked by collecting stars... they seem impossible. All of them. I haven't figured out a single one yet (not all unlocked). They don't give you another power after you've beaten the story mode, right? Another explanation I can think of is that they require some kind of insane jumping-between-falling-blocks skills. I'm probably peeking at walkthrough soon. [edit] some minutes later... Ok, watched a walkthrough for An Ice Glitch until I realized what kind of GLITCH was meant. Probably never would have figured that out myself. After that I realized that the star-unlocked bonus levels just require different thinking. Tanukitsune Posted November 28, 2011 I'd help, but I'm not a completionist, I just beat the game and got all the special blocks, I don't really care about the stars.
Erkki Posted December 2, 2011 Aand 100% (in adventure mode). I had to peek at only two walkthrough videos to get all the stars. Still missing 3 or 4 bonus levels.
