SGP Posted July 7, 2010 Sony understands that they need to keep the present online feature set free to all players, and that's how it should be. Plus is just a way to generate revenue by offering NEW features to gamers that have extra change to throw around. It's funny because I bought Plus *because* I don't have money to throw around. For gamers that are patient and don't buy everything day 1, you'll be able to save money by getting some games free, or paying the reduced price on games (which I believe don't expire if your subscription lapses, since you still bought them.) Also, anyone that has a 360 and PS3 and subscribes to Gold really has no excuse to not pay for Plus in my mind. The value you get out of each service is so much better for Plus. Tanukitsune Posted August 5, 2010 This month's features are out! We get... -Alien Zombie Death: Very meh... You shoot zombies until die and unlock the next level... -Blast Off: Make the rocket take off, reach the goal and collect some astronauts... this is almost BLEH! -Zen Pinball: Haven't tried it, but I'm no pinball expert so I wouldn't know if it's any good... -Medievil: It's the only good game I know of this month.... And I already own the PSP AND the original PSX version As for the exclusive demos: -Mushroom Wars: A SLOW Galcon clone... who wants to play a SLOW Galcon? -Infamous: I think the download version costs MORE than the Platinum one!? Well, at least we have one good game this month... And maybe the pinball one is good?
Cigol Posted August 5, 2010 That pinball game is extremely good actually. It's one of my favourite PS3 games. I spent so much time playing the demo that I eventually decided to buy it and haven't looked back - so I would definitely recommend you give it a shot. Can't say I've played any of the other stuff listed though. I think you lose EVERYTHING you got for free from this service if you leave it.My understanding is that you lose the full games, but downloadable content, and other small stuff like that, you can keep even after your subscription has ended. But unless they have online checks for the games you download I wonder how they can police it. Maybe if you've already downloaded and activated it on the PS3/PSP it's yours to keep and play until such time you need to re-download it? It's not for me either way, but would be better if that's the case. It feels poorly thought out considering the amount of time and freedom they've had to launch it, and how it stacks up for people who buy everything worth buying on PSN. Obviously early days but I can only see it getting messier!
Tanukitsune Posted August 6, 2010 Oddly enough, I started to actually buy PSN games AFTER I got Plus, I know it's probable the game will be free eventually, but it might not? Either way it will interesting to see how the European version of Plus will work since the European PSN Store is the worst of all regions! We don't get all the PSP game, and we are missing TONS of PSOne games! Can you believe we don't have any of the Spyro games and we're missing a Crash Bandicoot game? What happens when Plus offers a PSX or PSN game that's US only? Will the only offer games that are available in ALL countries? If so, we're going runs out of content in a month or so... Octaeder Posted August 9, 2010 Yeah, Zen Pinball's actually pretty good. Nothing too exciting, but well presented all the same. According to the EU Playstation blog, next month's free game will be Season 3 of Sam & Max. Quite excited about this because it's the first game they're giving away that I don't already own (excluding some minis). But unless they have online checks for the games you download I wonder how they can police it. Maybe if you've already downloaded and activated it on the PS3/PSP it's yours to keep and play until such time you need to re-download it? It's not for me either way, but would be better if that's the case. The system sets the games expiry date as the last day of your current subscription, I assume it goes online and checks if you've renewed the subscription at that point and, if not, the game stops working. Tanukitsune Posted January 9, 2011 It finally happened, Sony US offered a PSOne game on Playstation Plus that Sony EU couldn't.... America got Spyro the Dragon and Europe got.... G-Police? I can't wait until next month when America gets Final Fantasy VII and Europe gets The Little Mermaid 2...
brkl Posted January 9, 2011 Sounds like... good for Europe? Too bad about Americans having to deal with a cartoon dragon.
Tanukitsune Posted January 9, 2011 I don't if other people like G-Police, but I had the PC version and hated it... the PSX plays worse, so you can imagine my opinion on that one...
CaptainFish Posted January 9, 2011 Do they police gravity? In the gritty underbelly of the city of Los Newton gravity based crime is on the rise, but what comes up must come down. These members of the force enforce a force, using any and all force necessary. Coming this summer at 9.81 m/s^2... ...or else. Sorry.
