Puzzle Bots

Recommended Posts

I don't know if anyone was thinking about getting Wadjet Eye's latest adventure game, Puzzle Bots. "Puzzle Bots is a light-hearted adventure game guaranteed to put a smile on your face. It’s got quirky characters, laugh-out-loud dialog, and brain-tickling puzzles". Also, it's shit, no fun and too short. After the Blackwell games this was a huge disappointment, although that's because it was really designed by Ron Gilbert's wife or something. Everything about it, the graphics, the dialogue, the voice work, the puzzles, the story... everything just sucks.

edit: Oh, and:

Pros:

  • It's cheap

Now I feel like maybe I exaggerated. What was it you liked about it?

Haven't picked up Puzzle Bots yet, but did you play the free prequel Nanobots? I thought that game was really charming.

I think the setting, and the concept of tiny bots doing stuff in our big world. But Nanobots was indeed more charming.

That's DAVE Gilbert, this wasn't made by someone from Lucasart's it was made by an indie game designer and Puzzlebots was made by Erin Robinson, another indie game designer.... and I've met one of the artists in person, not to mention some of the indie artists who donated some art as extras... :getmecoat

Wow! Talk about harsh! Please tell me you hate this game because thought Ron Gilbert was involved... ;(

:shifty:

You fell into that most deadly trap, a post by Toblix. (Hint: You might want to read his disclaimer.)

So... does this mean he hates Telltale games then? Wow, toblix must really LOATHE games then! :shifty:

If he was kidding I would expected a sillier thread name, something like "Puzzlebots? More like Pissle Butts!"

Dude, it's a tricky affair, but he was kidding. Mr 'Blix is a fan of

Dave

Gilbert's games, for one thing.

Well, this is an Erin Robinson game, not a Gilbert game. And to me it looks like he really hates the game, I don't see any hints of sarcasm or humor in his post...

The bit that was sarcastic was the ridiculously stupid bit (claiming it was by Ron Gilbert's wife).

So his modus operandi is to haze and end it off with a not so obvious misinformation to note that the previous statement is a joke? :erm:

And.... I just realized we're discussing our own interpretation of someone else's opinion...

If toblix was joking.... I think he did a poor job and was too subtle because it looks like he really hates it, Erin Robinson is pretty obscure, so it's entirely believable that he got wrong who she is...

And if he wasn't he was WAAAAAY too harsh.

Jesus, how I fail at posting some times. Let me be perfectly clear: I was really disappointed with the game, and truthfully found it to have every one of the negative characteristics I enumerated in my first post.

Ha ha, so I was right after all? :erm:

Didn't you know this was the first Wadjet Eye Game were Dave wasn't the "director"? Maybe you should have tried the demo or play some other game by Erin? But still... WOW! Many of the artists that worked on this game are the same that worked on the Blackwell games...

I guess I did a bad job of explaining what I meant, sorry. The only bit that was sarcastic was the Ron Gilbert bit, but Mr. T has explained that now.

To get back on topic: You liked it then? I was going to check it out myself at some point, so it's good to hear that someone did enjoy it! (I think I share Toblix's disappointment at the idea that it's isn't very good.)

Yes, I did enjoy it, it wasn't the best game ever, but it was a pretty good remake of Nanobots, the animation wasn't very fluid and it seemed to be made for a more casual marker in mind, but it was still pretty good...

You seem so sad I didn't like it. It doesn't really make a difference that it was the same artists -- the game looks like crap in comparison. Some might say it's an art style choice, and of course it's all subjective. I could forgive the lame graphics and voices if the story was any interesting or well told, and I could forgive the lame, badly told story if the puzzles were any good. I could even forgive the stupid puzzles and awful controls if it was free. Unfortunately, none of these requirements are fulfilled.

Looks like I'm going to have to check this out for myself. (Did you play Nanobots?)

Do check it out. My opinions are not worth much. Also, if you buy it, hopefully you'll be financing the next Blackwell game. Also, didn't play Nanobots.

Well, it's free. I wonder what you'd make of it? (Not that I've played it, either.)

Well, I wouldn't be sad if you just disliked it, but you seem to really despise it, I'd even say it's like you think it's one of the worst game ever!
