miffy495 Posted March 21, 2010 Yeah, that game aged very fast and very badly. If you enjoyed Timesplitters, the last thing I can say for PD is that the team that made it later split off and made Timesplitters. The Timesplitters multiplayer was based off of the success that they had with GoldenEye and PD. Timesplitters is totally one of my favorite franchises, so I'm with you on that. Nicholololas Posted March 21, 2010 I never really played GoldenEye or Perfect Dark that much (mostly at a friend's house, and I was terrible), but I played alot of TimeSplitters back in the PS2 heydeys, which PD with the improved texture resolution as well as upped framerate definitely reminds me alot of. Which isn't really a bad thing, the Rare/Free Radical FPS-es were always a thing of their own - the well-designed multiplayer levels that managed to stay interesting despite mostly consisting of corridors, the lack of a jump button, etc. Even though alot of the game appears archaic and outdated today (as mentioned earlier, terribly unintuitive single player level design is a good example, as well as the almost completely pointless "fine aim") it still definitely feels unique, and stands in my mind as a valid multiplayer alternative to Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 2, especially when it comes to split-screen. And of course Counter-Op is brilliant, which is still a feature I miss from games, ten years on. It also has an amazing amount of content, even by today's standard, and for 800MSP I don't really have a problem recommmending it to people, even those who never played it or any of its kind back in the day.
