miffy495 Posted June 30, 2011 Wow, this thread died fast. I posted this in the 3DS thread already, but here's what happened today. It's important. Today. Virtual Console. Kirby's. Motherfucking. Dreamland. $4.I know it's short as hell and pretty easy (I think I beat the game while I was typing this, in fact), but I have so many amazing memories of playing this game as a kid. I didn't have my own gameboy or my own copy of the game (I played a borrowed-from-a-friend copy on my sister's Game Boy Pocket) but I still managed to play this game to death. Even at 8 or 9 years old, I could systematically destroy this game, and would do so at least once every two or three days. It was just something I'd do to relax. Got a free half hour? Whup Kirby's Dreamland. I was sort of exaggerating about beating it while typing this, but I did buy it twenty-five minutes before writing this post and started typing after the credits rolled. It's still fantastic though. The amount of personality in those sprites strikes me a lot more now that I'm older and have seen more than my share of uninspired game artwork. It really is fantastic. I don't feel bad about spending $4 on a 20-ish minute game because I know that I'm going to get at least 4 or 5 hours out of playing it over and over. If you won't, take it under consideration. If you're a big Kirby fan, as I am, get on this immediately.
syntheticgerbil Posted June 30, 2011 Now you've gotta play 2!
miffy495 Posted July 1, 2011 I have, but I have way more affection for the original. Didn't play 2 until a couple of years ago, so I don't have those kinds of memories of it. It's good, but the animal companion thing always threw me. Same with 3 on the SNES. As soon as Kirby starts riding something, the game loses me a little. Even playing 2 as a kid, i never liked it as much as the first one. Always wished i had played Kirby's Adventure, though.
miffy495 Posted July 1, 2011 Kirby's Adventure is rad as hell. $5 on the Wii. What are you waiting for?
Tanukitsune Posted July 6, 2011 On relatively related note, I just got G.G. Series Collection + in the mail, which is most of Genterprise's DSiWare games on one cart. I'll post what I think of the game as I unlock them, apparently I can only play four of them at first?
miffy495 Posted July 14, 2011 You freaking jerk Europeans. You get Mario's Picross on 3DS today. I am so goddamned jealous right now. I just get stupid Game and Watch Gallery 1. Man. If you live in Europe, have a 3DS, and don't pick up this game, I hypothesize that you may be a terrible person. I can't be sure, but I feel confident in that guess. Tanukitsune Posted July 14, 2011 Wanna trade? As much as I love Picross, I love these Game & Watch collections even more! Also, you lucky bastard get Netflix! We get three 3D videos to watch, and only one isn't 3DS related!
miffy495 Posted July 15, 2011 I would absolutely love to trade, were it possible. I already have the Game and Watch collection DS carts from Club Nintendo, am a huge Picross freak, and after spending enough time with it to watch the first 5 minutes of an episode of Mythbusters, can confirm that the 3DS Netflix app is essentially the same as the Wii's (read: awful, especially compared to the 360 and, in particular, the PS3) except slower on the exact same connection for reasons I don't quite get. Believe me, this week's update only sounds exciting to an outsider. I'm still considering picking up G&WG though, if only for a $3 game to play now that I've finished OoT3D. Tanukitsune Posted July 15, 2011 I wish I could have gotten the G&W DS collections, but in Nintendo Europe they were gone before I could get enough stars to buy them. They only have 3 games in them, right? The Game Boy ones had at least five, and those had both the original and a remake with Mario characters.

Now, thanks to the miracle of storage devices on portable consoles, there are almost no situations in which I ever need to be more than a few feet from a game of Picross! So happy!
