Fear - Can it be Cured?

Recommended Posts

So, I've reduced my "currently playing" stack down to RE4, which I started playing way back. I'm a bit past the point where I pick up the girl. After going from one typewriter to the next, I was about to vomit with fear, and did the thing where I tell myself "nice going, you've made some progress. You can pick this up again later," and I really just want to stop playing a scary game. Obviously I'll spend a million years on this game if I stop playing after every typewriter I come to.

So, is there a way of subduing this feeling of dread and let me get on with playing my fucking game? Is there a point on my skull I can drill into? It's like this with all these scary games, and I hate being such a pussy about it.

Yes.

Get a stereo next to your TV, and play disgustingly happy music all the way through, like

, or this, or
, or this. Or this. I guarantee you'll feel amazingly disconnected from the horror on screen.

Get a portable DVD player and pick up some good scary horror movies. Then at 00:00 go to a nearby forest and watch a movie by yourself in the dark woods. Just keep watching movies until you either go insane or till dawn (which ever comes first).

After that you are cured from fear. Well, fear from virtual horror anyway.

I've found that the fear is nonexistent when I'm not alone, so maybe putting on a podcast or talk radio might be a solution. I'll try that.

Awesome! I put on some music, and it's no problem. Until I come to the cabin and there are like a million guys coming in through the windows.

Yeah. It was no problem once I figured out I could enter redecorate mode.
