This kind of things shouldn't happen in modern gaming... What next?

I'm talking about the MAJOR SCREWUP!

When you do something wrong and are forced to start from scratch...

This happened to me while playing Dead Rising, I was practically at the end, but I didn't understand what Otis told me to do and lost too much time doing something I shouldn't...

The problem is, the game only let's you have one save file, which should never happen in those games where can screw up, so I have to start from scratch!

Fortunately, you get to restart at the same level you were when you quit? :erm:

But seriously, when was the last time you play a game in which you screwed up so bad you had to restart?

Now I'm too angry at the game to play any more right now, and I don't know what to play next, I only have Assassin's Creed, Bully and Lost Odyssey unbeaten on my 360...

Heh, yeah everything said about Dead Rising generally centres around the crazy save system. It seems the game assumes you are going to play through multiple times (someone here said that you aren't a high enough level to do some things the first time through!)

The whole game structure is based around restarting multiple times, each time getting further than the last. I sort of get it, but I'd much prefer a more traditional structure, or even better, a linear structure.

I hear the Wii version will have a more toblix-friendly mission structure, but I also hear it can only display five zombies at a time or something.

I've seen screentshots of the Wii version, it has MUCH less zombies and I think they removed the photography parts?

When I do give it another go, I'll just try to get the real mega buster to make things simpler.

What I really hate about the game is that you get an item that helps the survivors act brave and make them suck less close to the end of the game...:frusty:

I think I'll give Lost Odyssey a go?

"Just" try and get the real mega buster? You're mad! You have to get the 54,000 odd zombie kills in one playthrough achievement to get that weapon....

Yes, but I don't have to get the good ending, right? I'll just drive through the tunnels until the bombs go off! :hah:

Read the tips I gave toblix in his Dead Rising thread, the twin mini chainsaws is a much easier goal to go for and with the right magazines, insanely powerful.

Also you can get the bravery magazine for escortees much earlier than you think ;)

This has been in my pile of shame for a few months now, I fought the clown once then couldn't be bothered. Since we got a HDTV the text will now be readable, so I'll give it another go.

Re: the tags, what the hell? That's at worst constructive criticism!

Once, when I was a younger, more naive gamer, I played through the old Mac game Power Pete and got all the way to the end, only to discover that the 5th of 5 worlds was only available on the hard difficulty mode. That crushed me. That was my "the princess is in another castle".

Probably not the last time, but there was a case where I really screwed up. It was in C&C Renegade, the boat mission. I managed to kill the captain of the boat before I was required to. Apparently I wasn't supposed to enter a door through which some enemies came. And apparently I wasn't supposed to kill everybody on that side of the door. This happened halfway through the level, and killing the captain became the last objective. So of course I didn't have a savegame from before I killed the captain.

That's why I intend to get the Mega Buster, sure I'll have to force the bad ending to get it, but in the next playthrough all the pychos will be a synch!

Oooh, once you get the Real Mega Buster and the mini chainsaws with the three books, things get REALLY FUN!

Come to think of it, I don't think I could have even gotten the mini chainsaws if I didn't have the Real Mega Buster! :mock:
